Weighing just 2.7 ounces, the M300 is one of the smallest and lightest phones on the market today. The front has a black face that includes the 96 x 96-pixel color display and integrated camera, and it's framed by a red surround; the back of the phone is basic black. The internal color LCD has a 128 x 160-pixel resolution and 65,000 display colors (16-bit), and the external display provides a quick visual check of the time, new messages, battery life, and signal strength. The phone has a 4 MB memory, but it lacks memory card expandability.

The VGA resolution digital camera can capture still at 640 x 480 pixels (sized for sending via email or uploading to the Internet), and it includes self timer, night mode, brightness, and white balance control features. Print pictures directly to PictBridge-supported printers, without a computer, using the available USB cable. Thanks to the built-in Bluetooth wireless connectivity (version 2.0), you can enjoy hands-free communication via headsets, car-kits and other Bluetooth-compatible devices. Enjoy easy, hands free communication with a speakerphone that lets you hear callers loud and clear.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT GET, October 26, 2007
This review is from: Samsung M300 Red Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I ordered two of these phones with a family plan. I have had nothing but trouble from the start. The batteries won't hold a charge, the call guard will not shut off so any roaming calls are not able to be answered. The phone continuously says that it is in roaming even when at home. I have to pull the battery and restart the phone to get it to change to sprint service. I have tried to speak to Samsung, the phone is supposed to have a one year warranty and I got no where with them. After a 2 hour phone call they told me they were sending a RMA, that was 2 months ago and I still have not received it even with follow up calls. In general the phones are pretty much worthless and Samsung's customer service isn't any better!! One of them has even developed a battery leak.

3.0 out of 5 stars Alarm clock, October 28, 2008
By
This review is from: Samsung M300 Red Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
After a month of owning this phone the alarm feature started to act a little bizarre. If you have this phone, set all three alarms so that when one of them randomly doesn't go off, you will still wake up for work. Sometimes the first one will go off, sometimes it won't. The weird thing is the display will show the alarm icon even though it never made a sound. The first few times this happens you'll think you just slept through it, but then you realize that there's no way that's possible. I've tested this when I am awake, it's really erratic and weird.

Aside from that really important issue I've had okay experiences with it. Someone mentioned the predictive text issue and I agree, it makes it take too long to go through all of that erasing of random words. Additionally, I think the missed call feature not showing you the most recent missed call first is also bizarre. Another thing is when you get a new text message and you open the inbox, it sometimes scrolls all the way to the bottom so you have to scroll all the way back up to read your unread messages. This only happens every once in awhile so I know it's a bug, not a feature. There's something really wrong with the programming of this phone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for free, but . . . ., January 16, 2010
This review is from: Samsung M300 Red Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I got mine for free from Sprint as a loyalty reward, and now I am using it as my normal phone is lost->stolen and my new-to-me replacement phone has not shipped in yet.

Sprint used to include the Phone as Modem feature in the data plan (Power Vision), but then they devalued the plan by making PAM a big extra charge deal. If you can find the service code to turn off NAI, you can PAM, but purportedly they are now unique to the phone. Older phones are likely more useful for free PAM.

As a phone it is OK, as a camera it is very basic, and as a web browser it is almost useless. You can download Opera Mini, if you are desperate for a little better browser.

On Bluetooth, the only profile that came up for my dongle was DUN, no file transfer, and the phone did not come with a data cable, if there is one.
