Do NOT GET,
This review is from: Samsung M300 Red Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I ordered two of these phones with a family plan. I have had nothing but trouble from the start. The batteries won't hold a charge, the call guard will not shut off so any roaming calls are not able to be answered. The phone continuously says that it is in roaming even when at home. I have to pull the battery and restart the phone to get it to change to sprint service. I have tried to speak to Samsung, the phone is supposed to have a one year warranty and I got no where with them. After a 2 hour phone call they told me they were sending a RMA, that was 2 months ago and I still have not received it even with follow up calls. In general the phones are pretty much worthless and Samsung's customer service isn't any better!! One of them has even developed a battery leak.

Alarm clock,

After a month of owning this phone the alarm feature started to act a little bizarre. If you have this phone, set all three alarms so that when one of them randomly doesn't go off, you will still wake up for work. Sometimes the first one will go off, sometimes it won't. The weird thing is the display will show the alarm icon even though it never made a sound. The first few times this happens you'll think you just slept through it, but then you realize that there's no way that's possible. I've tested this when I am awake, it's really erratic and weird.Aside from that really important issue I've had okay experiences with it. Someone mentioned the predictive text issue and I agree, it makes it take too long to go through all of that erasing of random words. Additionally, I think the missed call feature not showing you the most recent missed call first is also bizarre. Another thing is when you get a new text message and you open the inbox, it sometimes scrolls all the way to the bottom so you have to scroll all the way back up to read your unread messages. This only happens every once in awhile so I know it's a bug, not a feature. There's something really wrong with the programming of this phone.

Not bad for free, but . . . .,

I got mine for free from Sprint as a loyalty reward, and now I am using it as my normal phone is lost->stolen and my new-to-me replacement phone has not shipped in yet.Sprint used to include the Phone as Modem feature in the data plan (Power Vision), but then they devalued the plan by making PAM a big extra charge deal. If you can find the service code to turn off NAI, you can PAM, but purportedly they are now unique to the phone. Older phones are likely more useful for free PAM. As a phone it is OK, as a camera it is very basic, and as a web browser it is almost useless. You can download Opera Mini, if you are desperate for a little better browser. On Bluetooth, the only profile that came up for my dongle was DUN, no file transfer, and the phone did not come with a data cable, if there is one.

Poor battery life,

I don't recommend this phone. I should have believed the other reviews. The talk time was fine with the phone, but on standby I could barely get through a day, and that after charging it all night. Other than the battery life, I liked the sleek design of the phone. My family memebers also got two additional phones and they both had poor battery life. It think it's a poor design.

Low Battery Life,
This review is from: Samsung M300 Red Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
We have two of these phones and, compared to our Nokia 6610i that we had in Europe, these can't hold a charge. The battery life is bad as far as I'm concerned. Conversations cut in and out. I can hear my party on the other line but they can't hear me, or vice versa. My husband cannot call me from work (granted he works in the desert). His colleagues go thru another company and they have no problem calling home. Sprint will not let us cancel w/o paying a ridiculous fee. If my husband could call from work we'd keep it but he can't. Sprint says that they will cancel us and waive a partial fee, but they haven't and still keep billing us. Their customer service is not very good.

Don't get this one,

This phone stinks. Agree with other posters on the poor battery life -- and the sounds it makes when you push the buttons are really annoying. Luckily I dumped a small amount of water on mine, so it no longer works and I get to get a new one.

Pros vs. Cons,

This review is from: Samsung M300 Red Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I was so amped to get my new Samsung M300, even though I absolutely hate changing phones once accustomed to a certain style. I loved the phone when I first received it, but upon closer inspection, some details really irk me.Pros: It works. Easy to navigate. Holds a signal, whereas my old Samsung would constantly drop calls. Neutral: There is no outbox for your sent picture mail. That doesn't really bother me, unless I forget what I sent to certain people. Cons: Bad Camera Quality. No flash. Zoom makes pictures blurred. While texting, the cursor sometimes gets stuck when trying to space words and you have to double type the same letter, move the cursor backward, hit space, then backspace to delete the extra letter. Ex. before: bb during: b b after: b If I could show you a live demonstration, I would. Another aspect of texting that sucks is the predictive text will add words without you knowing until the text is sent and someone is texting you back asking, "What the hell does that mean?" Ex. You thought you said, "I'll see you tonight at 8." But what your phone sent came out as, "I'll see you tonight at 8. Popsicle" Yes, that's happened to me. Yes, I thought I jacked up, but when it happens often you begin to realize it's the phone thinking it's smart. It slows down texting when you have to slow down your double send to re-read what you wrote and make sure your phone didn't use it's own "brain" and add to the conversation. I've tried the setting through and through while trying to fix this problem. NOTHING worked. The buttons are all pretty flat and it slows down movement through the menus. You can't change your theme on your display. You can change the pictures, but not the theme. You can't send the pictures that are saved to your phone. It does really weird things like show a missed call from one number on your closed screen, but when you open the phone, it's a completely different number. I've realized the closed screen shows the older missed calls and when you open it, you see the new missed calls. Even if it's days later. That is really weird, IMO. Even when the phone is open, it will do that. I can't explain it, but if anyone has the phone, I am sure it's not just me. My battery life seems really short lived. I hate change, so I will stick with this for awhile because Lord knows I don't feel like re-learning an entirely new phone. |
