Good office printer,
This review is from: Samsung ML-2855ND Monochrome Laser Printer (Office Product)
Replaced my USB HP 1300 with this printer. It is on a mixed mac and Windows XP network. Extremely easy to setup. Plug into ethernet port and Bonjour instantly recognized and set up on mac via Printer system preferences, Install disc adds nice features on the mac such as IP address, toner level etc., very convenient. Also very easy to add to windows XP machines . Samsung did a great job of adding features that are Mac OS X compatible. Very solid construction, with convenient 50 tray auxiliary paper path, also designed for more heavy usage compared to ML2851. Only complaint is it seems to take a second or two longer to print the first sheet, and toner is not readily available at local office megastore.
Update: After 1 week in office first page out deemed too slow, returned and purchased HP P2055ND, It seems much quicker to print the first page, which is important in my setting, where we print single sheet walk out statements/receipts. The HP is more costly, but has gigbit networking. The samsung has better on screen support and info than the HP when installed on a mac. I would reduce the Samsung to 3.5 stars

Samsung tech support is a ripoff,

This review is from: Samsung ML-2855ND Monochrome Laser Printer (Office Product)
My first ML-2855ND printer was DOA because the interface circuits on the board were bad. This made it impossible to set up. I called Samsung tech support because this problem is very unusual (in 25 years working with computers it was a first to have something that seemed to function but would not set up). The printer comes with both usb and network ports and I tried both.
They did a quick phone analysis and determined that they would "fix" it for the paltry sum of $169. I said that I just bought the printer and wasn't there a guarantee? The response was $169 please. Mine was "I don't think so." Samsung states that there is a warranty but this may be some of the new definition for "transparency" being floated by some of our leaders. If not, it sure is good old double speak. I contacted the retailer and they exchanged it, even paying for return shipping. This is one of the largest Internet suppliers and I give them "Egg"cellent feedback for their support. To be fair, I have several Samsung products, including the ML-2855ND printer. All have given me good service but I have become VERY leary of buying Samsung products because of this experience. With this printer, I decided to pay extra for a one year warranty with my replacement printer. It has given me good service for the month I have had it. It installed easily, is quiet and I have no complaints. Will I buy another Samsung product? I honestly don't know. If I do, it will be with great caution and I have to figure in the extra cost for extra warranty. It is a replacement for a very similar "Brother" duplex laser printer (main board circuit failure). It should not have died after only 2 years of service. NOTE: Electronic circuits usually fail within 3 to 6 months and then tend to last forever. (The Brother printer was the exception.) [Since I had just bought a new toner cartridge for the Brother, I tried to get it fixed (over $400 and then to buy a new Brother over $300).] This printer was under $160 with the warranty and shipping. Unfortunately, I must give the printer a bad rating because of Samsung. I have never had this kind of experience dealing with computer manufacturer's since I started in this business in the early 1980's. Evaluate this as you deem fit. I have tried to be fair with the printer.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Samsung ML-2855ND Monochrome Laser Printer (Office Product)
I bought this printer to produce multi copies for teaching purposes. It is quick, quiet and produces clear crisp copies. Make sure that you have purchased an additional toner cartridge if you need to do lots of printing. The included starter cartridge prints maybe 1,000-1,500 copies. This practice of putting "sub-standard toner cartridges" in new machines is a sneaky way of CHEATING consumers. Consumers are forced to buy another "standard cartridge" immediately for another $90.00-$100.00 in order to finish any large projects.
