4.0 out of 5 stars Decent, and you can't beat the price
I've had this printer for about a year now. No problems at all. Works fine networked to Linux and Windows computers. Not as large as some, but the pictures don't show the paper tray jutting out the front...a requirement for operation. A little loud, perhaps, but only on start-up. Short time from hitting the "print button" to the first page. And that's my only...

3.0 out of 5 stars Manual Feed problem
Got this printer for our accountant because they need it network. They used it for the last 2-3 months. The print out is good, some misc led will come on at times and paper jam few times. But the biggest problem for them is the manual feed, it'll always jam and it's a big problem for printing checks. We will have to replace this printer. Guess it's a good printer if...

And that's my only complaint; it's ready to print so fast that it requires a hefty heating element for the fuser. This not only dims the house lights slightly, but it yanked down the house voltage far enough to overload my (admittedly cheapo) Conext 700VA UPS (and no, the printer was not plugged into the UPS). A better UPS remedied that. Interestingly, the printer's surge didn't affect computers that were not on the Conext UPS (or not on any UPS, for that matter). OEM toner cartridges are a bit pricey, but good for 3000 pages (the factory says). Still, hard to beat for the price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worked fine, but not for long enough, December 27, 2008
This review is from: Samsung ML2571N Compact Laser Printer (Office Product)
I purchased the printer about a year ago and it worked quite well for me until a couple weeks back. Just stopped working. When connecting via USB, the driver will not recognize the printer. When it was working, I was pretty pleased with the output. I used it mostly for text and it was certainly adequate for that. Sadly, I've had to junk the thing, and just after shelling out $70 for a new toner cartridge. Sigh . . . I've replaced it with a Brother wireless printer. Hopefully that one will last a bit longer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great printer at a great price., October 24, 2008
This review is from: Samsung ML2571N Compact Laser Printer (Office Product)
I purchased this printer for a home network and it performs well. I also use this printer while connected at work via remote desktop. Once I installed the driver on the remote network the printer worked without any problems. Toner cartridges are also very inexpensive making this printer a great deal all around.

I have been using this printer on an all Mac network at my office for about 8mo.s. Besides the fact that it is a little loud when it gears up to print, it is a very good printer. It will occasionally need to be rebooted when it becomes unresponsive. Other than that, it's perfect.

You can't beat the quality and price. It's very fast also.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Printer Saves Me a Fortune in Ink Costs., March 17, 2009

This review is from: Samsung ML2571N Compact Laser Printer (Office Product)
One of my friends noticed that I was constantly complaining about the cost of the tricolor ink cartridges I was buying every week for my HP printer. He wondered what I was printing to be using all that color ink? When he discovered most of my printing was only B&W text, he told me that the HP ink jet printer I was using was printing the B&W using mostly color ink. He said that if I'd switch to a B&W Laser Printer I'd save a small fortune as well as have the ability to print much faster. He was right on the mark. He recommended this particular model because he had one and he'd also purchased one for his father. He and his dad had PC's, but this model also works well with Macs. Once I figured out how to correctly install the software, it has worked like a charm and I'm getting thousands of pages of printing on a single cartridge. I'm delighted with this machine and only wish I'd have found out about it the year before. It's saving me at least $100 per week and it doesn't take long to pay for the machine with that kind of savings. I'm passing this recommendation on to you. I hope it works as well for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice printer, but difficult to set up, June 5, 2008

This review is from: Samsung ML2571N Compact Laser Printer (Office Product)
I just got my ML2571N this afternoon, but without a user guide in written form, it was frustrating to set up. Loading the toner cartridge was difficult without written instructions, and I didn't realize the manual was on the CD until I tried to reload the software. When I read that the cartridge had to click in place, everything went smoothly, and before I could say Jack Flash, my printer was spewing out great printed copy. I purposely sought out Samsung because I've had excellent luck with this manufacturer's products (now if we could get them to document and print too!) One thing I don't especially care for is the fact that the loaded paper tray must be open to print (takes up an additional 5" in front). I guess you can't expect an inexpensive printer to act like an expensive one! All in all, I'm quite happy. Now all I need is a modern computer to go with this new laser job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great printer for the price and it uses the same toner cartridge my old Samsung used, June 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I have had good luck using Samsung Laser printers but nothing last forever if made out of plastic and my old one broke after I bought a replacement toner cartridge and I found this one which uses the same cartridge.

Been using it for over 3 months and it's great...

PS: I also have a Samsung Color Laser printer that I use less often because you don't need color for just text documents and am happy with it also. Can't see any difference between my camera picture and the printed on and it looks a lot better then the ink-jet printer I use to have.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, March 21, 2011

This is a great little printer. Easy to set up, not a whole lot of features, which is fine with me (I like to keep it simple). A little noisy when it's turned on but once it starts printing very fast. I am very satisfied.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and reliable home/small business monochrome laser printer, December 27, 2010

I bought this printer in January 2008 and I am writing a review for this in December 2010. It has been almost 3 years and I am still using this printer as the primary network printer for home and home office use. This has been a reliable printer to say the least and still going. I have been using this to print 8.5x11 papers, labels, stickers and envelopes and have achieved great results. This has been our primary network printer at home and receives daily usage from everyone in the family of four.

Installation was a piece of cake. I usually download the latest drivers from manufacturer's website. Driver download is not confusing and setup is a piece of cake. Once setup is completed, your wireless/wired computers should have no problem seeing the network printer on the network. You can also connect to the printer via your browser to configure it to work the way you want. You may want to set your router to reserve a fixed IP for the printer's MAC address or set the printer to use static IP so that you and your computer will never have trouble finding it.

I have used numerous compact laser printers. I typically use HP or Brother laser printers. This is my first Sansung but probably one of the best I have used. The print quality is on par with more expensive laser printers. I print a lot of professional documents such as proposals, legal papers and contracts and I have never been afraid that this printer would embarrass me. It may not be the fastest laser printer but for its price range, I believe it is on par if not faster than most "budget" and "compact" laser printers.

The network response can be a bit slow sometimes and the printer may include some blank pages as it has trouble "splitting" papers. Paper jams are inevitable but I have had over 80% success (no paper jam) rates for the past 3 years using this printer. Paper jams are inevitable even with big and complex printers. This printer's structure is simple and paper jams are easy to resolve.

I have been using generic ink cartridge and refills since the original cartridge ran dry. You can usually find them on ebay and they are quite affordable even though refilling and replacing the fuse can take a little bit of work, you can definitely save a ton of money. Don't worry, using generic ink will not destroy your baby printer. I have been using it for the past 3 years for this printer and it works fine and prints fine. It is 3 years later and there are better printers out there by Samsung and other manufacturers but even by today's standards, I still consider this printer to be reliable and efficient. I might be adding another printer to our network for multifunction purposes but I will continue using this printer as my primary B&W or Grayscale printing.
