4.0 out of 5 stars Initial impression is good, July 15, 2008

Bought it recently from a Target store about a week ago. Once you figure out how and exactly where on your arm you need to wrap it, it gives a fairly stable reading (~10% error between tries). The trickier part is to decide when to stop pumping. The instrument gives almost an inaduible beep when you're supposed to stop, but unless you pump slowly, you will miss it, and end up hurting your patient. So, pump slowly.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointng high readings, February 14, 2009
By Gsaxon "Greg" (Long Beach, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Samsung Manual Inflate Blood Pressure Monitor (Health and Beauty)
This unit gave consistently high [by at least 15-20 BPM] readings. It is a manual pumping unit with auto air release and digital readout.
Just the previous week in a clinic, I was measured at 110 over 70 to 120 over 80. At home, and after carefully reading the instruction booklet, this unit gave consistently high readings ranging from 146 over 76 to 180 over 96, even though I was resting and not moving.
I emailed Samsung and they stated it was a "very tricky" unit to use. I took several more readings according to Samsung's instructions, and they were all still high.
So I went to a couple of drugstores and used their free BPM machines and my readings were 125 over 82, and 123 over 86. This after driving in the rain and walking to the end of the stores to find the BPM machine.

Recommendation: Use the machines for free which are located in many drugstores and don't bother with owning a BPM. It is not worth the hassle.
