5.0 out of 5 stars Great Deal for a Netbook
I gave this netbook 5 stars. I bought it for 289 and wasn't expecting a supercomputer for the size or price. I use it mainly for the internet and Microsoft Office. Didn't have any problems with the wireless at all. It has great battery life and a battery life extender feature that only charges it 80% if you want to extend the life or 100% if you need the extra power. Runs...

I bought an N150 after Consumers Reports gave it high reviews. A week after I received it, it wouldn't come back on after Windows updated Windows 7 Starter. I sent it to factory service which replaced the hard drive. When it came back the touch pad didn't work so I returned it to service. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Deal for a Netbook, March 29, 2010

This review is from: Samsung N150 10.1-Inch Netbook (Black) (Personal Computers)
Runs about 6 hours with the 80% charge. The keyboard is easy to use. Windows 7 is limited, but again.. for the price what were you expecting? Almost all new netbooks come with Windows 7. I didn't buy the dvd drive and so far haven't had a need for it since all programs you can install via download or flash drive. The build in SD slot is handy for downloading pictures from your digicam.

Built in webcam is also a neat little feature for web conferencing. The processor is a bit slow, you need to know that this is not a desktop replacement laptop. Web and Office are the most this thing can handle at once. I did look up buying an extra ac adapter from Samsung and it was pretty expensive compared to how much the netbook cost. I uninstalled a lot of the programs that came with the computer which also helped boost performance. I upgraded to 2 gigs of ram which helped a lot also. Overall a great deal and I would recommend it for the road, for class or for an extra computer.

You're buying a netbook, not a full fledged powerful computer. Know its limitations.

4.0 out of 5 stars will barely run without 2 GB Ram, April 3, 2010

I like this Netbook. BUT it's barely functional without 2GB of Ram. I'm no geek, the difference is incredibly noticeable. I had big problems with Flash at sites like Hulu and reviews said that the Atom processor can't really run flash but not true - the problem was trying to run it with the 1GB. With 2GB this netbook will do everything you need it to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice for the Price!, June 20, 2010

This review is from: Samsung N150 10.1-Inch Netbook (Black) (Personal Computers)
I've had the Samsung N150 since March and really love it. It's light and fast, which is exactly what I was looking for as far as a netbook. I feel like I got a winner in my book. I did add/adjust some things on the N150.

--Upgraded to 2GB

--After about 6 weeks of owning, I upgraded to full version of Windows 7. Glad I did. The basic starter version is eh...okay, but full version is much better. I think it even runs faster than before the upgrade.

--I ditched the free McAfee virus protection and went with the free Windows Securities Essential. Easy to install and unobtrusive, unlike McAfee. (Be sure to remove McAfee first)

--The N150 comes with a free trial of WORD 2007 and I got lucky in that I had bought a copy of Home & Student 2007 eighteen months ago. It allows me to use for up to three computers, so all I had to do was type in the code and have full use of WORD 2007.

The Samsung N150 starts up fast and the screen is bright and clear. I haven't tried to power down the battery yet, but have used it for three hours with no problems. One suggestion I have is to NOT put in a flash drive at start up. I had the netbook lock up at start up before I figured out it was the flash drive.

Overall, I highly recommend the Samsung N150 for anyone looking for an excellent, well-built netbook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great machine, March 21, 2010

This review is from: Samsung N150 10.1-Inch Netbook (Black) (Personal Computers)
Please see my full review on the blue variant here: Samsung N150 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook - Up to 7 Hours of Battery Life. The variants are all the same, with the exception of color. The blue is a matte blue, and this one is a shiny black. After rolling out 3 of the blue ones, I saw that this black one was available for a great price. While I'm not a fan of the shiny black, only the lid is matte, the inside is a nice matte black with a red accent trim around the side.

I've had some some time with this model and I'm very happy with it. Battery life has been good, they keyboard is good, the matte screen is a godsend compared to the trend towards gloss, and most importantly, the machine is extremely quiet. When the fan does run, you just can't hear it, it's obscured by the quiet hard drive noise. For those of you who are concerned with having a quiet machine, you'll be very happy. The trackpad buttons would be my only complaint, I feel they could be positioned a bit better, but the trackpad itself is very good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Happy with my little black netbook, April 15, 2010

This review is from: Samsung N150 10.1-Inch Netbook (Black) (Personal Computers)
Really no complaints. I knew going in that the computer would be a little slow, and it is when i'm on the internet. but since i mostly use it for word processing it doesn't bother me. Despite the slower internet speeds, I love my netbook! It is small enough for me to carry with me every day on the train and not feel like I'm lugging rocks in my bag. Battery life is great, i can use it all week without having to recharge it. Overall - I am very happy. (Even the webcam works really well when talking over skype).

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk, May 3, 2010

This review is from: Samsung N150 10.1-Inch Netbook (Black) (Personal Computers)
I bought an N150 after Consumers Reports gave it high reviews. A week after I received it, it wouldn't come back on after Windows updated Windows 7 Starter. I sent it to factory service which replaced the hard drive. When it came back the touch pad didn't work so I returned it to service. After receiving it from service a second time, the touch pad works but is erratic and jumpy. I tried reducing the sensitivity but, regardless of sensitivity setting, it still is unpredictable. It's sometimes hard to get the cursor to move, and when it does move, and it comes near a link or button, it tends to stop and open a bidirectional arrow instead of smoothly moving past or to the link. I have been forced to buy an external mouse for it. With the mouse, it works okay.
The next problem occurred when I tried to install 2 GB of memory to replace the 1 GB that it came with. The memory door on the underside does not open even after loosening the screw and prying on the door. It feels like the nut that the screw is supposed to screw into is turning without releasing the screw. Samsung service refuses to repair it, claiming that memory door is not covered by the warranty.

4.0 out of 5 stars samsung n150 netbook, July 15, 2010
This review is from: Samsung N150 10.1-Inch Netbook (Black) (Personal Computers)
this is a fine netbook. The keyboard is nicely laid out and responsive. The built in webcam is sufficient, but nothing extraordinary. The touchpad is the least desireable feature, a bit small. I love the matte screen. It really cuts down on the glare and makes it a delight to look at. Overall, I'm very pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the Best, July 9, 2010
By
This review is from: Samsung N150 10.1-Inch Netbook (Black) (Personal Computers)
Before I bought the Samsung N150 I read all the reviews about this netbook and the other major brands. Comparing customer satisfaction, performance, features and user friendliness - the Samsung N150 proved to be the winner!

In my opinion this netbook is simply the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have netbook that works!, October 19, 2010
This review is from: Samsung N150 10.1-Inch Netbook (Black) (Personal Computers)
After much research on which netbook would be the right netbook for me, I finally decided to go with this one. It was between this one and the Toshiba N305, but I had read about how the Toshiba didn't have great sound quality, so that was out. I also really liked the matte screen vs the glossy screen. I'm always around light and not having glare is a huge benefit! Skype DOES work correctly and only had a problem with webcam and latest version of Skype. Haven't had a chance to replace the RAM with 2GB yet, but I'm sure I will soon. It's still pretty fast without the extra 1GB.

Pros:

- Matte screen (no glare)

- Keyboard layout, the only buttons that are shared are the page down/home and page up/end. The other keys are laid out perfectly and are easily accessible.

- Touchpad has 2 buttons at the bottom and has multi-touch capability, which is very useful after you get used to it.

- Pretty fast except for hard running apps (iTunes is one).

- The Samsung program that is pre-installed helps keep battery life lasting long and boot time is fast.

Cons:

- Power switch is a slider switch instead of actual button.

- Not multi-display capable.

I've only had it for a couple of days, but it's doing great thus far and seems to be worth the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the best or the worst, October 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Samsung N150 10.1-Inch Netbook (Black) (Personal Computers)
This net book is nice looking, small, light, compaq ect. I recomend upgrading the memory to 2gig and reformating the hard drive and do a clean install of windows 7. You will notice a hudge diffrence. Dont expect an Atom processor to perform like an intel i3 or i7 processor, its a netbook. I also turn off services in windows 7 I think isnt really needed and that did another big diffrence. For basic work on the go I recomend. Buy a regular labtop if you need the extras.
