I bought this cable for less than $6 so I could pull some photos off of an old Samsung SGH-A707 flip phone. All you will get when you order this is the USB plug but if you follow these instructions, they should get you to where you are trying to go. For me, I had no problems getting everything to work, although it did take a little while to get everything to load properly. First, you need to have the phone charged before plugging it into your computer. In the settings menu of the phone, select Connectivity (option 6), then "Select USB Mode" (option 3) and then select PC Studio. The default is probably media player, which would need to be switched depending on what you are trying to do (the software will explain).

While the phone is charging, go to the Samsung website and your goal will be to download the software "Samsung PC Studio 3." The easiest way I can explain to find it on the Samsung website is to find the download center and enter your phone model number (currently, if you click on products-get downloads-category cell phones- and then go from there that should get you to the correct software page to download it). Download the program you need for your computer, install it, and after you've got it set up, just connect the USB cable to the phone and the computer, and Windows should be able to do the rest from there. (I have Windows Vista currently installed on my computer). Start the program and voila.

I was able to transfer the pictures using the phone explorer tab of Samsung PC Studio 3 program. You should be able to download your contacts, photos, videos, read the sim card, etc. If you have music, you probably will have to change the setting on your phone but I didn't, so I'm not sure about the instructions for that. Hopefully by this stage you would have figured that out. Hope this is useful since the other reviews don't really cover this.

I have a Samsung SCH-u740 (aka Alias) and a Mac using OSX. With this cable, I was able to transfer data between the two. Contacts, call details, notes, text messages, pictures, calendar... the works. It may seem like a minor capability. But if you have a Mac, you may know how it feels to be shunned by Samsung and Verizon. So this feels like a little victory!

As another reviewer noted, there are no instructions with this cable. You get JUST the cable. So you may have to do a little research on the internet to figure out how to use it. If you have a Mac, try searching for "data samsung mac".

Also note, I'm not able to transfer music from my Mac to the phone with this cable. I have to use a Micro SD card instead. If you want to do this using a PC, you might have a better chance.

I was able to connect my computer to my phone with this cord, which is what I wanted, but I was only able to remove my pictures from the phone and not the text messages, no matter what I tried. Be aware if you buy this cord, it may not do everything you need it to and even to extract some things, you may need to change phone/computer settings or download special programs. It is not simple.

I'll admit, I've never even bought this, but that's because every purpose for which I intended to get it I figured out without ANY cable. The phone I have is the SGH-A707 Sync. The computer I have is a MacBook Pro, and it has Bluetooth.

All you have to do to get the phone ready is go to the Menu --> (6) Connectivity --> (1) Bluetooth, make sure "Activation" is ON and "My Phone's Visibility" is ON, and that should be good for the phone end. (I also have "Secure Mode" OFF and named my phone, so it's easier to spot.)

On the MacBook Pro you go to System Preferences --> Bluetooth (under Internet & Wireless), hit the plus (+) sign, and Bluetooth Setup Assistant will pop up and find your phone. Click continue, and an eight digit code will appear. Type in the code on your phone and they're connected! Or, at least, they can recognize each other.

Now in that Bluetooth settings window make sure "On" and "Discoverable" are CHECKED.

Now you should be able to send files from your phone to your laptop! The only thing that is still weird is that when I click on the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar, go to my phone, and click "Browse Device," the computer can read the folder names but can't see the files. It's not a problem since the phone can send the files; it's just weird.

This is a quality samsung cable, exactly what you need for your SGH-A707 flip phone. Connect to your PC and update your drivers and the phone will recharge. If you want to upload/download files ringtones etc. to/from your phone you will need the proper software so if you can't use it as such don't blame the cable.

Great product, does exactly what it is designed for. Only problem I had was the slow shipping.

I'll go to great extent to get an OEM part instead of some cheap knock-off. Here is an example of great OEM quality.

I got this product hoping it'll help me upload pics to my computer. But how can you do that, if there's no instructions in the box?! Helpless product if there's no instructions. I can't tell if this is a good product or not, but how can you tell if there's any instructions?
