5.0 out of 5 stars Great monitor and great price
I don't know why I'm the first review on this monitor, but so far it's perfect! I've had it for a couple of weeks now and couldn't be more pleased. Beautiful picture, beautiful looks. Touch of color is very subtle. I love it. The touch button on the front is nice too, giving you access to the monitor settings from the monitor itself. It also comes with a program,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre
***UPDATE: After using the monitor for a couple of months, I have to say I might have been a bit generous with 3 stars. Using this in a fairly dark room, the bleed-through is awful on the top and bottom edges, not only with black, but any dark colors. There is simply no way to reduce the backlight directly, and all of the gamma, brightness, and contrast controls (on...

It also comes with a program, MagicTune Premium, to adjust the settings through the computer. I don't even have it connected to a digital input and it's great. No problems at all, shipped very quickly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Monitor, May 13, 2010

This is absolutely a good buy. The monitor is so beautiful and well-functioned. No HDMI port, but this is not a problem. This monitor offers one VGA and one DVI port. That's enough for me. Plug it in and it works without installing any driver. I think I'm getting a $300 high-end product while I only pay $180 for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive!, July 12, 2010

This review is from: Samsung P2250 21.5-Inch Widescreen Touch of Color LCD Monitor - Rose Black (Personal Computers)
In my quest for a new office desktop monitor I spent several days looking over sizes, features, brands, reviews and pricing. In the end I chose the Samsung P2250 22-Inch Widescreen Touch of Color LCD Monitor based on a combination of all of those.

When I received it set-up was a breeze; unpack, connect and plug-in. When it was turned on for the first time I have to say I was in complete awe for several minutes. Going from a 6 year old 15" Sylvania to this beauty was long over due.

What I like most about this monitor besides the size, is it's crisp picture and vibrant colors. No more eye strain while working for hours on spreadsheets and photos, movies and videos look great.

There is one major downfall to this monitor, which will definitely be a deal breaker for some people. It is lacking an HDMI input and this is disappointing especially coming from Samsung, but for me since this was a work monitor it didn't have any effect on my decision. Additionally the monitor does not swivel left to right, it only adjusts up and down.

Other items worth noting are the touch display buttons that glow red when in use, but don't show up otherwise and I didn't know if I'd like the "touch of red" on the monitor frame, but it looks really nice in person.

*I uploaded one of the pictures I took of the monitor into the customer images.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great monitor, beware of magic tune, May 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Samsung P2250 21.5-Inch Widescreen Touch of Color LCD Monitor - Rose Black (Personal Computers)
This is a great monitor but beware of the magic tune program- I downloaded the premium magic tune program off of the website and it destabilized my computer, couldn't open anything without the computer going into a restart. Had to go in in safe mode and delete the magic tune program before it would work. I also installed a asus 3450 video card at the same time as the monitor so that might have something to do with it. Don't let that scare you off, as far as I am concerned this is the best monitor you can buy until at least $200.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Steal, May 15, 2010

This review is from: Samsung P2250 21.5-Inch Widescreen Touch of Color LCD Monitor - Rose Black (Personal Computers)
This is a definite buy especially for the price. I've been looking for a monitor for over a couple months purely for gaming. It seems monitors are the best for gaming because of 1) The price compared to a T.V. 2) 1080P in a compact picture 3) Very fast response time. To start off on the monitor, it has a great picture, design, and easy set up. But as you've heard it only has a vga and dvi hookup. To me, a xbox 360 owner, this was a perk because I don't have to buy any converters so it saved me a lot of time and heartache. The set up is easy and you may have to work a little bit on the picture and YOU HAVE TO SET THE RESPONSE TIME IN THE SETTINGS. Like I said before I searched for months trying to find the right one and finally found this diamond in the rough. All in all its a fantastic monitor and for the price of $180, your practically stealing it. LED's are the next generation item so your gonna see LCD's drop in price no matter how nice they are.

PRO's :
- Great picture and fast response time ( 2ms, 1080p)
- Easy set up
- Very purtty design

CON's : ( Not much to worry about)
- A little bulky
- A little back light bleed through, blacks aren't distinguished the best
- Only VGA and DVI

***UPDATE: After using the monitor for a couple of months, I have to say I might have been a bit generous with 3 stars. Using this in a fairly dark room, the bleed-through is awful on the top and bottom edges, not only with black, but any dark colors. There is simply no way to reduce the backlight directly, and all of the gamma, brightness, and contrast controls (on the monitor and with my ATI drivers) do very little to reduce the bleed-through. Aggravated? You betcha.***

Bleed-through is pretty bad. I'm very tempted to send it back over that issue, but so much is going on right now. Needed a monitor fast, chose the Samsung name because I had a good Samsung that broke during moving. (And I am super pleased with my LN46A650 HDTV.)

Sharpness is good, and it certainly is bright enough. Color accuarcy is also good.

The problem is, I like a black desktop, and the bleed through is very annoying. Worse than on many CCFL monitors.

Also, as noted, the stand is as cheap as they could get away with.

The "touch" controls are a pain. Every time you think you have figured out where to touch, the target seems to move a little.

By the way, I installed the drivers and made every possible adjustment to reduce the bleed through. The backlighting is simply set too bright and cannot be toned down. (And I guess the LCD matrix they used is aimed at budget buyers.)

All in all this is a let down. I wish I had done a bit more research and spent a few bucks more to get something better. This is a cheapo monitor with the Samsung name stamped on it. I hope Samsung protects its reputation better than this in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seems Excellent So Far, July 20, 2010

I got this from Amazon less than a week ago and have little experience with it yet but my impression so far is that it is absolutely excellent.

Amazon exceeded its already great record by getting this to me, in Alaska, in less than 2 days, with Free Shipping! Absolutely outstanding service!!

The literature provided with the monitor leaves a whole lot to be desired, in part because it is in so many languages that it is difficult to just weed out the English instructions I need. And it is a tad less than as informative as I'd prefer it to be but I fumbled my way through it. Fortunately, the number for Samsung support is prominently printed and after two calls I was well on my way. No maze of choices to get through to reach a human clearly speaking my language so that was a great experience. I did learn that the monitor is simply plug and play, at least for the Win XP I am using. And they were correct, I got a great display right out of the box. I refined it a bit with some fumbling after that and I'm not so sure I fully understand the touch buttons for setup quite yet but my displayed image is a real knockout. I used he supplied disc to later update my display driver so that Device Manager recognized this specific display instead of simply Plug and Play Monitor.

I am just using the analog input because I have not yet gotten a video card with a DVI port but I wonder how much my current display could be improved upon with a DVI connection. It is amazingly sharp and clear and almost like having a panoramic view with the wide screen. I'm using the recommended resolution setting of 1920x1080. My old video card will not give me a sharp image at a lower resolution so I'll stay with this until I get a better video card but the font is somewhat tiny at this resolution and my eyes are still adapting. But I do like the sharpness.

My impression is that this is an excellent monitor and an excellent buy from Amazon. Certainly an affordable price and unbeatable shipping. I did buy the added 3-year Square Trade warranty just in case things don't work out in the future because this is my first experience with Samsung.

Incidentally, I selected this monitor in very large part because of the favorable reviews. Reviews matter a lot to me and I rely on them increasingly for my purchase decisions. Thanks to all who reviewed this product before me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome monitor, but the damn blinking light is a feature that needs to go, November 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Samsung P2250 21.5-Inch Widescreen Touch of Color LCD Monitor - Rose Black (Personal Computers)
Samsung and LG need to adopt Dell's policy of using a different color LED for the monitor when it's in standby mode, rather than using a blinking power LED. I bought the LG 2240T monitor because of it's beautiful picture and couldn't have been more happy, UNTIL I went to sleep and realized that when the monitor was in standby mode, the power light LED on the monitor blinks, and it's not just some faint LED either. It lit up half of my room. No way to turn it off or dim it, I even asked LG. So I went and bought this monitor, due to the great specs and glowing reviews. Side by side, I initially thought the LG had a nicer picture, but after using the Magictune feature, somehow all the settings seemed to optimize and the pictures were nearly identical. I will say the Samsung has more options for picture and customizing that the LG seemed to. Lastly and most importantly, I was given the option to dim the LEDs on the monitor. I was upset to see that this monitor ALSO has a blinking light on it when it's in standby mode, but with the LED turned down to its lowest setting, it's hardly noticeable. However, for those who need a completely dark room where they sleep and use their desktop in their bedroom, this may prove to be an issue. Not NEAR as bad as the LG, but still an issue. Otherwise, my reviews are like everyone else's here. Cheap stand, beautiful picture, great looking bezel, some light bleeding on black screens. It's a great monitor for its price, but Samsung needs to get rid of the blinking LED and just use what Dell does, a faint different color LED for the standby mode.

3.0 out of 5 stars Stand has been redesigned cheaply, August 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Samsung P2250 21.5-Inch Widescreen Touch of Color LCD Monitor - Rose Black (Personal Computers)
I had an older version of this monitor, and bought two more for the office. They came and I was disappointed by the stand, no tilt, not able to rise and lower, its a cheap un-articulating plastic contact that is actually quite short. This is a redesign in the wrong direction, as I bought the same monitor, 2 years ago for the same price with a heavy duty armature.

Thinking of returning, very unergonomic samsung, you should know better.
