5.0 out of 5 stars Great For Console Gaming
In my research I came across only a handful of displays that were suitable for console gaming in this price range. Samsung is known for its great LCD's and this one is gorgeous. The colors are crisp and the refresh rate is awesome. The touch buttons are cool and the black frame with red bezel is downright sexy. I use this to play my Xbox 360 (via an hdmi to dvi cable)...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good monitor but stand broke in 90 days
This is an attractive and well functioning monitor. Other reviews cover the video and operating aspects adequately, and other reviews have mentioned the weakness of the stand.

In my case the stand broke out of the monitor (the plastic cracked at the screws). It was not subjected to abuse; it just sits on my desk. I don't even adjust it very often. It was...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great For Console Gaming, September 9, 2010

This review is from: Samsung P2350-1 23-Inch Widescreen Touch of Color LCD Monitor - Rose Black (Personal Computers)
In my research I came across only a handful of displays that were suitable for console gaming in this price range. Samsung is known for its great LCD's and this one is gorgeous. The colors are crisp and the refresh rate is awesome. The touch buttons are cool and the black frame with red bezel is downright sexy. I use this to play my Xbox 360 (via an hdmi to dvi cable) which upscales to 1080p very well. The image was much sharper than my 720p Hitachi LCD. My only complaints are the limited connectivity and it can't really be tilted vertically.

I use this monitor exclusively for editing HD video. The imagery is sharp and smooth. I have connected it to more than one PC and I like the way the monitor is quickly recognized by each computer and how the monitor automatically conforms to the current graphic card settings of the PC. I am very pleased with the product.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good monitor but stand broke in 90 days, April 30, 2011

This is an attractive and well functioning monitor. Other reviews cover the video and operating aspects adequately, and other reviews have mentioned the weakness of the stand.

In my case the stand broke out of the monitor (the plastic cracked at the screws). It was not subjected to abuse; it just sits on my desk. I don't even adjust it very often. It was loose and floppy from day one, and today it just broke off and fell on the desk! If you Google around, you will find this is pretty common with this monitor.

So why do I rate it two stars? Well, the video is really nice. But a great monitor that can't be used (without holding it up with two hands) doesn't deserve a great rating no matter how good the video is. If you need to buy a VESA stand with the monitor, then that puts the cost into the category of a higher quality monitor which makes it less of a value. Whatever way you slice it I think the rating should be dinged heavily.

This isn't part of my rating but I think other buyer should know about post-purchase support: I'll probably buy a VESA stand because warranty service is problematic. I went to Samsung's site and tried to request warranty repair and the website tells me my email address is invalid, my address is invalid, and then pops up error messages and is incapable of creating a service request because it can't find a UPS location nearby. One of the pop-ups warned me that because I didn't "correct" my address I might have web-site problems. But since I correctly entered my address and email I'm at a loss to know how to "correct" them. Of course, the problem is a crappy web application that incorrectly gets its knickers in a twist over valid data. But it does help to keep the warranty costs down if people like me can't place our claims... ;-)

I bought this for my wife who has lens implants and needed a little larger screen to see without glasses. We lowered the brightness down to minimize eye strain. She likes the wide screen to open programs side by side. The monitor works perfectly, the shiny black paint model we bought is a little glossy, but we knew that when we bought it. Nothing objectionable,Looks prettier. I recommend this monitor very highly. My first Choice. Great quality in Samsung Products, has been my experience.

4.0 out of 5 stars DEAD PIXEL, June 27, 2010

This review is from: Samsung P2350-1 23-Inch Widescreen Touch of Color LCD Monitor - Rose Black (Personal Computers)
I Love this monitor. I had a 17 inch screen before this one and was so happy with this untill 4 hours after the install one single dead pixel showed up. I was so happy when i called amazon to report this because they are immediately shipping me a new one. I would have put 5 stars if it were not for the dead pixel. I just hope the 2ND one which is on its way does not have a dead pixel. Besides that this is an incredible monitor!

I purchased this monitor as a replacement for a Dell monitor which came with my new computer. The original monitor wasn't large enough for me, so I wanted something bigger and I've had good experience in the past with Samsung. I am pleased with the monitor -- I don't ask much from it other than the images are crisp and I can adjust the brightness, both of which work just fine for me. The only drawback, and it's not a deal-breaker but just annoying -- is that the controls to turn the monitor on and off are touch controls and are not raised above the level of the case. In the dark, you have to feel your way to the on-button, which isn't a button at all but just an area on the lower right section of the monitor frame. I turn my computer and monitor off at night and on when I get up, and finding the little spot to glide my finger over to turn on the monitor is a bit iffy, because when I glide my finger over the spot, the monitor turns on, but I also inadvertently touch the spot where the monitor changes from analog to digital, so I frequently find I have a blank screen because I'm in the digital mode instead of the analog one, so I have to then fix that. For the most part it's not a great problem and I solved it by putting a little sticky star on the "on" spot, so I can find it easier by feel. Overall, Samsung makes a great monitor. I just am surprised by the touchy-feely state of the controls on this model.

I had a 21.5" Samsung monitor that wasn't 1080p. This monitor has a much better picture and the color quality and brightness are excellent.

I have had this monitor for about a year and it was fine at first but let me tell you some of the main flaws. The stand is terrible. The Samsung monitor will jiggle around your desk with the slightest touch. My first one broke off of its stand because of this. When I went to have it manufacture replaced, they took FOREVER. Glad I had a back-up monitor lying around because it took ~1 month to fix and ship back. Upon arrival it started to turn off and on at the most random times. Lets just say I am unhappy with the quality of this monitor. However for reference I have had my Samsung LCD 34 inch TV for almost 2 years and it has had no problems. I would still by Samsung in the future, though I hope they don't fail this hard again.

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT PERFORMANCE., April 6, 2011

This review is from: Samsung P2350-1 23-Inch Widescreen Touch of Color LCD Monitor - Rose Black (Personal Computers)
Minus 1 star ONLY because there is an occasional creak when trying to move or tilt the monitor, which is rare.

Otherwise, Pixel Performance for sure. Watch out, no HDMI Port in case you console gamers were wondering, you might need an adapter or an HDMI to VGA / DVI cable.

Super bright with a brilliant contrast ratio. I couldn't be happier. It's too bad now though, I bought it when the price was still around $189. Even so, it's still worth its current price-tag. ($211 as of April 2011).
