Stay in contact with friends and family via text and instant messaging.
T-Mobile Service
The T109 operates on GSM 850/1900 networks and can handle high-speed data connectivity via T-Mobile's EDGE network (which stands for "Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution"). This high-speed, mobile data and Internet access technology is fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services (with average data speeds between 75-135Kbps), including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and e-mail on the go.

Download cool new games, HiFi Ringers (real songs by today's hottest artists), MegaTones (instrumental versions of songs), and wallpapers quickly, as well as stay connected via the Web, instant messaging, and e-mail.

The compact clamshell Samsung T109 is easily pocketable for on-the-go communication.

With T-Mobile Contacts (formerly T-Mobile Address Book), you can store your phonebook on T-Mobile's network so even if you lose your phone, you don't lose your contacts. Contacts lets you import entries from Microsoft Outlook, .vcf files, or use .csv files to import from Yahoo!, Gmail, etc.; back up your phone's address book on our server with enhanced safety features; and store additional contacts on the server.

Phone Features
Weighing 3.1 ounces, the compact Samsung T109 has dual LCDs--an internal 65K-color screen (128 x 160 pixels) and an external monochrome screen that displays current time, incoming calls, signal strength, and battery life. Under the hood of the clamshell, you'll also find a standard alpha-numeric keypad, five-way navigator, send/end keys, and two soft keys for navigating menus. The internal phonebook provides space for hundreds of contacts, and it supports caller groups as well as ringer and picture ID. Note that this phone does not include a memory expansion slot or a camera.

Stay in touch with your closest contacts while on the go via SMS text messaging and instant messaging (IM) via popular services (AOL, Yahoo!, Windows Live, and ICQ). Use the integrated speakerphone to keep your hands free when a call comes in. You'll be able to download games, ringtones, and wallpaper via T-Mobile's t-zones over a GPRS data connection.

Other features include:

  • Organizer tools: Alarm, calendar, to-do, calculator (with tip calculator), world clock, stopwatch, unit converter
  • Supports polyphonic ringtones
  • Messaging: SMS text messages and MMS picture messages
  • Voice recording

2.0 out of 5 stars Pass until the bugs are worked out, June 11, 2009
I've had the Storm for about 6 months. Pass on this Blackberry, until RIM can get it's act together and it's OS updated to something reasonable to use [I've applied the latest Verizon approved updates - there are unapproved updates, but I was given the phone by my employer and have only applied approved updates].

PROS
Screen is large and bright.
Applications aren't hammered down like the iphone.
GPS is pretty robust.
Blackberry messenger [once my wife showed me how to use it].
I do like the keyboard [compared to the iphone].

CONS
Slow change from portrait to landscape view [ie the accelerometer].
Requires frequent [daily] battery pulls to fix A HORRIBLE MEMORY LEAK.
Somewhat limited applications compared to the iphone.
No application memory space - I can't hardly add applications - and that '8Gb memory card' is USELESS for applications - you can only use it for music or pictures, etc.
RIM's App World is ssllooww and painful to use - hopefully it'll improve.
No Wi-Fi.
Internet Browser isn't very robust.

Bottom line - pass until they get the bugs worked out. Stick with a BB that has a physical keyboard where they know what they're doing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this phone., August 29, 2009
BlackBerry Storm 9530 Phone, Black (Verizon Wireless)

This phone fell well below my expectations. Coupled with the poor handling I received from the customer service department of Wirefly, the result left me feeling lied to and dissapointed. I would never reccomend that people buy a telephone in this way. It is better to pay the full price and have a way to get any issues resolved.

The main problems with this phone is:

Battery does not last a full workday with hardly any use.
Battery charging takes way too long (must charge overnight to attain full power again.
Phone often slow to register and change between screens.
Phone often hangs up or freezes.
Overall, not a very reliable or user friendly mobile phone.
Offers made to insure and provide potection for the phone which were not sincere from Wirefly. I actually got the old, "Our supplier cannot honor our offer" line. What a joke.

I would not reccomend buying this phone or in this way to anyone. Get an iphone and use a walk in store! At least it is tested and you can see what you are going to get. Also you can get face to face feedback from a shop. Not so with buying on-line. The whole online buying experience was just horrible for me. Never again.

Moral:
You get what you pay for.
Wirefly offers low cost phones. But they deliver low to no service.

I don't know if you will publish this because it is also a comment on Wirefly as well. But this is how I feel

Your feedback and comments are appreciated.

Sincerely,
Anthony Williams

5.0 out of 5 stars Updated OS, December 11, 2009
The 9530 did have some serious problems when it was first released. However, it runs great with OS 4.7...and even better with OS 5.0 I love my Storm and recommend it very strongly.
