2.0 out of 5 stars Failed at 13 months!, March 13, 2010

I chose this Samsung product because it looked well-designed and had excellent features. Thirteen months later, the freezer stopped working. I called a factory authorized service for repairs. They could not locate the exact problem but, after contacting Samsung Tech Service, felt that there was a blockage in the cooling system which has a five year warranty. They deemed the unit non-repairable and reported such to Samsung. I then went through 3 months of Samsung Customer Service HELL with at least 20 phone calls, each time giving an exact account of the entire history of my problem. I was LIED to several times in the process. A few of the customer service people were helpful, the remainder.....WORTHLESS! Oh, Lowes finally replaced the Samsung .....with a Whirlpool Gold!!!!

Pros:

Great Styling
Great Features

Cons:

Makes very little ice
Noisy Ice maker
Reliability?
Poor parts availability (per authorized service man)
POOR HANDLING OF MAJOR ISSUES
Difficult to service (per authorized service man)

5.0 out of 5 stars nice design, February 24, 2010
This review is from: Samsung : RF266ABWP 26 cu. ft. French-Door Refrigerator - White Pearl
Purchased this at Lowes because it was the best designed and looking fridge. Many of the American brands are no longer made by them and most are made using common components made in China which are not of high quality. People are buying fridge more on looks (stainless steel) than reliablity. That is why most recent fridge will last no more than 10 years while our parent's fridge will last over 30 years. Samsung does not really have a track record but I was willing to take a chance based on their reputation. I was told at least the major components on the fridge is made by them and not some generic part from China. However, the fridge is assembled in Mexico. So far, the fridge is very quiet and holds the temperture very well. The layout is well thought out and fit and finish seem high. I hope it last more than 10 years.

1.0 out of 5 stars Possessed., April 27, 2010

Purchased this fridge in stainless steel through Sears the end of February 2010. Looked good at the store. However, when set up at our home the ice maker didn't dispense from the start. Called Sears service. Told them ice maker didn't work. They sent out a repairman. "Yep! Ice maker doesn't work, but I don't have a replacement icemaker. I'll have to back order it."

Ice maker is left at front door by UPS about 10 days later. Arranged second repair call. Second Sears repairman installs new ice maker unit and leaves. Ice maker still doesn't dispense. (receipt claims warranty service would have been $239 if not covered).

Called Sears service who schedule third service call. Repairman comes out: "Yep! Ice maker still doesn't dispense, but the only thing left to do is replace the mother board on the back. But I don't have one. I'll have to back order it."

Sears left an automated call April 18 to reschedule the fourth service call set for the 19th of April. I call them and they say OK when do you want the appointment. I ask whether they have the part. They say they thought I already had it. I say no I don't. They say I shouldn't call until I do. I say how about bringing out a new fridge. They say May 8 earliest.

Fourth repairman installs new motherboard. Icemaker still doesn't work. Arrange for new Whirlpool replacement.

The one repairman observed that this is Samsung's newest model. I would wait a year or two before buying one to let them get the bugs out and at least have parts in the pipeline. As for Sears appliance repair process, it's just mindboggling.

LMAO. IT STARTED DISPENSING ICE AT 2:10 A.M. WITH ICE MAKER TURNED OFF. DISPENSES ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK. DOESN'T DISPENSE AT ALL IF ICEMAKER IS TURNED ON.

NOW THE INTERNAL WATER DISPENSER DOESN'T WORK EITHER. PROBABLY FROZE AT FACTORY TEMP. SETTING OF FRIDGE.

NEW WHIRLPOOL ARRIVES TOMORROW.
