Samsung SCX-4016 Flatbed Laser Multifunction

Just received SCX-4016 from Amazon.com for two days. Because I have an HP ScanJet scanner and heard that SCX-4016 scan function is not that great, I only use copy and print functions. Laser printing quality is good and is truely 600DPI. Copying is also ok. Toner came from the box is just the same after market SCX-4216D3/XAA (you should check the toner itself), not a lower graded. Not too big, not too slow (about 10 to 12 page/min).

However, the downsides are,
1. First page of copying comes out slowly. Probably below average waiting as other SOHO copiers. But the multifunction is for my home use and it's not a high volume so this is fine. First page of printing seemed faster.
2. The unit is a little noisy. You will hear a hissing especially at night. But this is still ok to me because I bought a wireless print server and put it to family room.

Though it has two shortcomings till now, consider the price ($274 - $70 rebate = $204), you can hardly find another multifunction with laser printer and flatbed copier...

yes its a cheap fairly good printer but with toner @ 80 dollars a pop I'd think twice before purchasing again

Being the cheapest laser MFC printer I could find ($$ after $$ rebate) I decided to go for it. It seems to use the same basic "engine" as the Samsung ML-1710 laser printer. Scan speed is fairly fast and the quality is decent. It prints envelops and small fonts just fine, but I couldn't seem to get the manual feed option to work with a 8.5x11" sheet of paper (it worked fine with an envelope). It does take quite a while to warm up and as for the toner save option - does it do anything? Time will tell. The paper drawer feels cheap and is made of plastic and it's quite a chore to get it back in correctly. But for the price it can't be beat and the option to refill it a couple of times with an aftermarket toner kit ($-$$) is the real clincher. No more expensive ink cartrigdes for me!

This is a nice inexpensive multifunction printer/scanner/copier. Not the best possible but the price/performance is really great. Works very nicely in Windows, but would not run in Linux when I first got it. Fortunately, Samsung has now got drivers for this printer for linux and it works nicely.

This is a sturdy little all in one laser printer. For the price, it is unbeatable. For the quality, it has lasted longer than my HP Officejet all in one printer. I highly recommend this if you need a economical office laser printer.

Very good printer. Fair as a scanner. It does very good black and white scanning but color scanning is only fair. Has a lot of trouble handling envelopes.

I have been looking for a multifunction laser printer for quite sometime and finally I decided to buy this one. It is an excellent machine with a very affordable price and at the momment there is $70 rebate offer as well. Installation was a breeze on Windows XP. Print/Copy speed and quality is awsome. Above all the tonner price is very reasonable. I will highly recommend this machine.

I purchased the 4016 about 5 months ago. The print quality has been really bad. I am suprised others in the reviews have not complained. The toner that came with it has run out. I will be putting in new toner and see if fixes the quality problem.
