The SDC-80 digital camera puts an affordable price on quality photography. Its 850,000-pixel resolution captures photos suitable for prints and the Web, producing vivid images at a maximum resolution of 1,024 x 768. The photographer has creative control with three shot modes and seven exposure options--or the option of letting the camera do the work in auto mode. A 1.8-inch LCD monitor displays images within seconds in standard, zoom, or multi-image modes. The included 4 MB SmartMedia card holds up to 22 images in standard mode.

Its very small, but very noticeable in public and lots of people will stop you and ask you about it.

The lcd screen makes the pictures you take look better than when they appear on your home computer screen in .jpg format.

The serial connection is what you can expect of a serial connection, pretty slow.

The flash is detachable, that comes in handy.

It can take up to 32mb smartmedia flash and with that you can store maybe 200-300 pictures.

It defaults to 1024x768 resolution, you have to manually set it each time you turn it on to do 640x480 if you want that res.

The picture quality is amazing on up close shots, but fades and blurs on medium to long range shots.

the flash will only do good in a medium sized room, doesn't flash strong enough for a large area.

The batteries will drain quickly if you use the flash each time, or the lcd screen alot.

i got this for 50 bucks so i thought it was a great value!

For my first digital camera and as a beginner myself, I was pretty satisfied with its features and the quality of the output. The multiple picture mode takes either 4 or 9 pics as a single pic so it's also great for shooting action shots. For its reasonable price, I was also suprised at how many pictures the camera is able to store on a 4 MB memory card...it holds about 22 pics, which is almost equivalent to a single roll of film. The camera also comes with a program where you can transfer your pictures from your camera to your computer. You also have a choice to either take pictures in color or black and white as well as if you want the date imprinted on the pics. Just the program itself with all its different capabilities makes the camera package worth buying. There's also great looking carrying case that comes along with it.

Pictures look great on your computer...I'm not sure how the pictures would turn out if you were to print it, but if you're just planning on using the pictures for web purposes (email, etc.)..this camera is a great buy for a beginner!

You can (and should) do a lot better than this in a digital camera at this price. It has a rather low resolution, a fixed focus lens, no zoom, and no USB connectivity. Anyone interested in simple digital photography will very soon be looking for a more advanced camera, while the SDC-80 gathers dust in a drawer. If you want cheap, look at the JamCams; if you want easy, look at the Sony Mavicas or the "Kodak Easy Share" packages.
