2.0 out of 5 stars Borders on being a toy., May 13, 2001

This review is from: Samsung SDC-80 0.8MP Digital Camera (Green) (Electronics)
You can (and should) do a lot better than this in a digital camera at this price. It has a rather low resolution, a fixed focus lens, no zoom, and no USB connectivity. Anyone interested in simple digital photography will very soon be looking for a more advanced camera, while the SDC-80 gathers dust in a drawer. If you want cheap, look at the JamCams; if you want easy, look at the Sony Mavs.

2.0 out of 5 stars ..., February 10, 2002

This review is from: Samsung SDC-80 0.8MP Digital Camera (Green) (Electronics)
It's kind of cute, solid & doesn't feel flimsy in your hands.
I liked the array of options & it's ease of use for deleting, uploading, and scrolling thru saved images - But.....
No Zoom, Focus is really hard to deal with, as its just a tiny little metal tab that you need an entire hand to adjust, as you focus on your image - The resolution is decent, optional B&W or cropped imaging, but the lack of zoom leaves a lot of images untouchable. The lighting sensor - just stinks. After using this for a few days - It was quite obviously defective. Battery pack drained completely, would never hold a charge for longer than 5 minutes (after charging for over 12 hours) The memory card would short out, occasionally locking up & wiping out anything that was saved. (Fixing it required unlocking the battery & replacing it) Many photo's were corrupted with strange stripes - Basically, it isn't worth the plastic it's housed in. You can certainly do better for $... (or the ... that my gift giver paid for it, a year ago)
Take a picture of something that is moving slightly, even a hand, or someone talking - and it blurs the entire image.
