This hardware from Samsung is functional and does what it's designed to do.
However, the only downfall to this product is the 3rd party software. The software (Nero) will slow you down and install junk onto your system, and eventually force you to purchase it's full version of the program, if you chose to. I finally uninstalled the entire software package and installed the VLC Media Player. Which is functional in all aspects. It works great now. I hope these comments help.

Worked perfectly out of the box. I was able to create a data dvd on the first try.

One thing to watch for is that the included install software will want to change all your file types to use Nero. I would suggest that you review carefully before you accept the changes.

I bought this USB DVD-W Drive to go with my new Acer Aspire netbook.
It works great with computer. It is a bit flimsy with the way it opens but nothing I can't handle. For such a small price it does work great. No regrets and I have used it to load a ton of software and files onto the Acer. So far so good!!!

I use this for my small 10" computer. Does the job I want it to do.

I own a 10.1" Acer netbook which I use this product with and it works just great! Easy to install, easy to use. Runs just fine and I've had it for a few months now. So, over all review is good, I'm sure there are faster drives out there- but this one works just fine for being so portable. I can just take it and go anywhere I need to. Takes about an hour total to copy and burn large files like a dvd.

Ordered for seldom use with my netbook. But when I did use it, it worked well. The only complaint I have about it is that the button to open the drive is a little flimsy.
But I'll be okay with it being that I rarely need to use it. If I was using it everyday, all day, I'd be concerned. Otherwise all good.

The dvd drive itself works great, but the Nero software sucks. When I installed Nero 8 that came with the dvd drive it interfered with Windows Media and would not show the video. It would only play the sound. When I uninstalled nero everything worked fine.

I have yet to really use the drive. However, I do like the size and portability of the unit. And, since it is USB plug and play, it would appear to be very convenient.
