The K-Series also features Samsung's advanced Optical Image Stabilizer, ensuring that video will be shake-free, whether zoomed out or using the camcorder at it's full 65x Intelli-Zoom. Furthermore, the camcorder's world class Schneider-KREUZNACH lens delivers the quality and performance needed to help capture the most impressive video possible. The SMX-K40 does not have internal storage and requires the use the of a SD/SDHC card.

The SMX-K40 does not have internal storage and requires the use the of a SD/SDHC card.

The new K40 follows in the footsteps of the SMX-C14 and SMX-C10 and boasts several unique features which differentiate them from the competition and make video recording even more enjoyable. Such features include Samsung's built-in intelli-studio software, animated thumbnails, and a versatile charging system.

No longer do you need to worry about being near a computer in order to edit or share video. The K-Series all feature Samsung's play-edit-sharing program called intelli studio. The built-in intelli-studio program allows you to turn any computer into a mobile studio, offering the ability to edit and play video without having to install supporting software. Sharing is also simplified using intelli-studio as the program takes the hassle out of uploading content to popular video sharing Web sites.

Samsung's animated thumbnail feature simplifies the way users search for video clips. Each video clip saved on the camcorder is represented by a small thumbnail on the LCD screen. When scrolling through one's videos, each thumbnail will provide a short playback of the video file when highlighted by the user. The SMX-K40 also features a versatile charging system. Recharge the battery by simply connecting the camcorder to the supplied AC adapter or via USB while the camcorder is connected to a computer.

I bought this camera to take videos of my son and maybe do a little bit of amateur filming as well. To start this camera is very small. It literally can fit in the palm of your hand. The LCD screen is nice but at times can make it hard to view what you are recording. The video that gets recorded is pretty good. I have noticed at times that when I zoom in and out the picture gets blurry. I have not been able to try the HDMI video quality on my TV because my regular HDMI cable does not fit the video cameras HDMI slot. All in all this is a pretty good camera for the purpose of shooting home videos. The video files come in a format that allows you to edit them fairly easily.

Had to write a review because I am hoping that someone with experience on this camera might email me and help me out. I played back the video I took on my TV. I have a 52" Samsung HDTV. I connected the SMX-K40 to the AV inputs using the cable that was attached. Maybe I need to use HDMI cabling, but the quality was awful. Really awful to the point of somewhat out of focus. Now, I did definitely notice the problem that someone else ementioned about when the focus goes in and out it gets blurry. I think it is actually pretty bad on this camera. But if I can get over that, I just want a clear picture and don't think I have that. While I am sure the HDMI cable will help with quality (or I would expect it to), why would I not get sharp quality (not blurry or grainy) just with standard cabling like I would with any other camcorder?
The screen is definitely very small but then again, so is the whole camcorder. The control button takes a little getting used to because I found myself pushing it in when I only meant to nudge it left or right. It's a little hard to control.

Anyone have an idea on the picture quality problem? IndyMustang1969@yahoo.com

Purchased this camera for an important family trip. First camera was bad and was not able to bring it with me. Amazon quickly replaced it for me with a new one that worked just fine but could not get the replacement until I came back. The issue was with the auto focus feature, or lack of. Using the zoom even the slightest made the picture so blurry it was not even viewable. The replacement camera seems to work just fine(for now). It is a new model and have not found many reviews for it. I will keep this one since it is working fine and the price was right.

Very Good Camera for the price, got it as an open box item. Very nice quality of video when upscaled on the computer using the camera's editing software.
Also, If you are gonna be using it for dark indoors I would recommend adjusting the settings, in this video I didn't know how to do those settings yet but now I do! Thanks again Amazon!
