I have been hunting for an LCD picture frame for quite a while, and noticed the Samsung screens in a store.

What caught my eye was the picture quality of the LCD, and even more important, the anti-glare screen on the LCD. It is the only screen I have seen that does not reflect room lights in the screen-or perhaps it is more correct to say that it reflects them a whole lot less than any other screen. If you look at the Samsung screen side-by-side with other LCD's, the difference is amazing. It also seemed to have about the best contrast, especially in brighter room lighting.

The 10" screen also makes a big difference. You can view it from across a room and at least see what the picture is...although you still have to get closer to make out details. The smaller frames seem to require you to get close even to recognize the picture.

The Samsung did not have all the features I would have liked, but no LCD screen did. What I really wanted was a product that worked on my WiFi, and could automatically update itself from my network storage (NAS) on my network. Alas, none of the current LCD's seem to be there yet. Since my ideal product didn't exist, it made sense to get settle on the best screen, which is after all what you buy one of these for in the first place.

I am very happy with the picture, and the feature set is ok, if not perfect.

The frame has a USB port, and so far I have only used it to load pictures from my PC. It also appears to allow USB peripherals to connect, but haven't tried that yet.

One final note- the enclosed directions for this unit are horrible. They are more of a technical data sheet than any sort of operting instruction. If you are reasonably computer literate, you will have no problems, but I would not recommend buying this as a gift for anyone who is computer phobic. As an example, there is no mention of plugging the unit in to a USB port and treating it like a storage peripheral to load photos...you sort of just have to know to do that.

All in all, I am very happy with this product.

Initially I was extremely impressed with the resolution and how vivid the colors are but that has has changed the more I look at it.

As a photo frame: 4 stars
Pros: 1. Good resolution

Cons: 1. 4:3 aspect ratio photos do not fit well in a 16:9 widescreen without significant cropping. When uncropped portrait-oriented photos are viewed in landscape mode, they only fill roughly the center 1/3rd of the frame. Normal uncropped landscape photos leave an inch of blackspace on each side of the screen.
2. Noticeable bluish cast to photos and no means of adjustment to resolve. The blue cast actually overrules reddish tones enough to make sepia-tone photos look black and white. And while it is great for green landscapes or ocean view photos, sunset photos and skintones look blah. It makes my scuba photos look even worse.
3. Some of the picture transition modes are not very smooth.

As a mini monitor: 2 stars
Pros: None
Cons: 1. For the most part, cannot view videos or tv feed on monitor. Cannot get it to work with Windows Media Player, Quicktime, Roxio, or Avermedia TV software in either XP or Win 7. The only way I have gotten tv or video to work is using Snapstream and then it seizes fairly often.
2. Windows dragged over to monitor and maximized often have residuals and artifacts that cannot be refreshed out.
3. Have to go though a setup process each time unit is started as a monitor.

Samsung generally puts out fairly good quality products. This product was either produced as an afterthought (the 1024x600 screen is likely the same one used in their line of netbooks) or it was rushed to market to compete with the other new high-res photo frames coming on the market. If you are looking for a mini-monitor (as I was) look elsewhere. Samsung should have left that part out on this model as it really drags down the rating. If you are just looking for a digital frame, look for a 4:3 ratio model. You will probably be much happier with it as the pictures will fill the screen without cropping.

I received my unit in perfect condition, I've tried it and found it very interesting by the slim case, high resolution and the brightness.

So, when I tried to connect to the computer the internal memory was corrupt and the computer aks to format, the format process didn't work and the frame now just don't power up. Talking to a Samsung specialist he sad that's no possible to reset the frame, the only way to repair is to open a support ticket and leave the frame with an especialist.

I'm sad, all kinds of electronics when make with predictive failure safe have a factory reset, Samsung didn't take care to make any kind of protection of the internal firmware or either a software to diagnose the frame when the customer have issues.

As other reviewers noted, the instructions for the photo frame are useless and it requires some tech savvy to set up, but the picture itself is very good (once you manage to figure out how to get it onto the frame. The frame is attractive, but the stand is not very stable and could easily break. That's where the positive features begin and end. The frame is evidently extremely selective about what kind of pictures it accepts, but it was impossible to determine the basis for the selections, as all the photos I attempted to download from either the computer or a flashdrive were photoshopped and saved as jpg files. Some originated on my digital camera and others had been scanned into photoshop. After spending hours trying to resolve the matter, I phoned Samsung, where the words "customer service" are an oxymoron, because there is no such thing there. I was transferred from one person to another, each claiming to be "the wrong dept.". After person number 5, I ended up disconnected (by them). I will NEVER buy another Samsung product. There are too many options out there to waste my time on. I packaged up the frame and returned it. Amazon, at least, has very good customer service.

I very much like this photo frame and it is wonderful to watch photos of my son while I am slaving away at the office. The picture on this thing is very crisp, it's very high-tech looking and looks and operates like it costs more than I paid. I agree with a few other reviews that state that the instructions for this thing left a lot to be desired.

I would have taken off half a star for that if I could, but did not feel it was a big enough deal to bring this all the way down to four stars since everything else about it is great. I was able to figure it out relatively easy but I wouldn't say this could be given to someone totally new to technology and used easily.

Be prepared to provide tech support if you buy one of these for grandma and grandpa, or set it up for them and have it ready to go. I've only used this for a few weeks now so it remains to be seen whether this picture frame is durable long-term.

I bought a new SPF-107H 10-Inch from Amazon
It arrived in very nice condition, it is a good looking and thin; I really like the look and feel.
Unfortunately the unit stopped working when I try to power-on after the very first batch of images transferred to the system.

Then the unit has sent to manufacture with my own shipping expense.
Look like Samsung will not pay for shipping the item to the manufacture even if it fully under warranty; in this case the very first day.

Today when I call the customer service I got an update saying my unit got repaired and it is ready for shipping.
Total experience with customer service was reasonably good; at the same time Samsung has the worst customer service policy I ever experienced.
Samsung force me to pay the shipping the product to the manufacture + additional several days lost during service and shipment.
I don't know what to say for an electronic product stop working at its first use.
May be "Customers getting punished for someone in Samsung not doing the quality assurance job correctly"

I have a few other electronic items from Samsung, somehow I got a good impression about this company.
But everything changed with this single incident; I will try avoiding Samsung products now onwards.
Now this unit is nothing more than a refurbished item; for that I paid much more than a new item and a long wait.

Still I am waiting for the product to arrive after the repair; assuming it will work.

The most attractive part of this photo frame is the LED (not LCD) screen. It is of great quality. But that pretty much is what it is about. This photo frame lacks a lot of common basic functions found in other competitors, e.g. alarm, playing MP3 or video clips. It does not have battery in it, either. It has to be plugged in all the time.

The worst part is the buggy software. The photos have to be either exactly the same size of the screen (1024 x 600) or at least twice larger the size of screen on either side if its size is not 1024 x 600. When it is not eaxctly 1024 x 600, during play back, starting from the 3rd photos, it is going to be scaled back in half. So if it is not twice as lrage as screen size, you are going to have a small image or a blurred one if you set it to fill the width. It is because the photo is scaled to half the size and expanded to fill the screen.

My suggestion is go to find some other frames with better features and good review on software and picture quality.

I read some of the reviews before buying this photo frame and sad to say should have taken the advice of others. Although the picture quality is good and the price very reasonable, basically this device is worthless. The instructions provided on the CD are not sufficient and the controls of the player are terrible and impossible to use. There is no remote control either. I have tried unsuccessfully to download photo data directly to the internal memory which requires a driver that I could not procure from the Samsung website, again, worthless. The stand is weak and cheap. The player ONLY plays photos in JPEG format, anything else has to be converted. Am only able to run a slide show from a SD card of photos in JPEG format.
Should have spent a few more bucks and got a better photo frame....

I bought this for my mom for Mother's Day and was very pleased with it. It was very easy to set up. The longest thing was sorting through all my pictures trying to find ones I wanted to add to the picture frame. It is a wide screen frame, so some of the pictures might have black bars around the edges. I think you can fix that in the setting or by cropping the picture, but I did not play with it enough.

The frame itself looks very sleek and sharp. The picture quality is superb and the viewing angle seems to be wide enough to have on a mantle or book case. Sometimes it is a little slow responding to buttons or moving through menus, but I assume that is more of the technology than the software. Think about it.... A 10 inch slimline monitor that has to read an on-board memory as well as read card memory and deal with input via buttons on the back all for $100. Not a bad deal! I will be buying one for myself.

I bought this as a Mother's Day gift for my mom and like the idea of the internal memory plus the ability to also add an SD card. My parent's are not into the new technology at all, so I'll be adding the pictures for them.

The picture is pretty good and it's nice that it displays your images both vertically and horizontally. The images aren't as vivid as the ones on my Pandigital photo frame, but it could be that I need to adjust some of the settings. When the frames aren't side by side, it looks fine though. Some of the buttons seem a little "sticky" and you may have to push them a couple or few times before they work, but once I get the pictures on it, I don't plan to have to use them too much.

I don't really care about the calendar, time or some of the other features, but I couldn't find one with a decent picture that didn't have them.

This frame is fine, but I do think that the 8" Pandigital PI8004W01 has a much nicer picture and more vivid color! It is better to hand this frame because if you sit it on a table, it'll fall VERY easily (the Samsung is better for this--it sits on table top with ease). I also got it cheaper, but since I had already downloaded pictures on the Samsung, I wasn't sure that it could be returned and I know my mom will be happy with it anyway.

The Samsung is a good frame with many good features, and it's frame is very nice!
