You have a 2012 active shutter TV (or 2011 Samsung) and you want lots of pairs of glasses for your buddies. This will fit the bill.

They paired right away to my Panasonic TC-P60GT50 60-Inch 3D Plasma TV and work consistently well. In my opinion there is slightly more crosstalk on the SSG-4100 glasses with the Panasonic TV than I saw with the SSG-3050 glasses on my 2011 Samsung LED.

Pros:
- at $20 the price is right
- universally compatible with 2012 RF transmitting 3DTVs such as Panasonic
- Decent image quality
- Nice and lightweight
- Lithium battery easily replaceable and cheap, no inconvenient recharges required

Cons:
- Some crosstalk evident using Panasonic 2012 GT50 plasma
- The earpieces are fixed once installed, they do not fold for flat (or pouch) storage
- Some people prefer wraparound style 3D glasses which block more peripheral light

My 3D history/qualifications:
I own 3 generations of Samsung 3D active shutter glasses. My Samsung UN55D7000 55-Inch 3D LED HDTV ] came with Samsung SSG-3100GB Glasses which worked OK, but were relatively bulky and $40/ea. A few months ago they released the

So glad that Panasonic and Samsung decided to join the Universal 3D glasses consortium as it's now possible to buy one pair of 3D glasses that work with multiple brands of 3D TVs. We've tested these particular glasses with a Panasonic 2012 ST50 model (TC-P55ST50) as well as a 2012 Samsung plasma and they synced immediately and worked well. They also work with 2011 Samsung TVs but they will *NOT* work with 2011 Panasonic TVs, nor the Panasonic 3D projector (PT-AE7000U) as these use the older Panasonic IR 3D glasses.

If you use these on a Panasonic TV, you may notice very subtle differences between these and the Panasonic 3D glasses in terms of brightness and color saturation but I think most people would find these ones perfectly fine for 3D viewing. Considering the price difference (currently under $18 for these and a little over $50 for the least expensive Panasonic glasses), I'd say load up on these and put them in a bowl on the coffee table for guests, but maybe stash a couple of the Panasonic glasses in a drawer for more "serious" viewers.

In terms of the form factor, these glasses are super-light. They come in 3 pieces: the main unit that sits on your nose with lenses plus two detachable temples. Plug the temple pieces into the main lens piece, insert the battery, hit the power button on the bridge and you're good to go. They should sync to the TV quickly as long as the TV is on and displaying 3D content.

Batteries (CR-25 button cells) are available on Amazon for under $2 for 5 so I'd recommend buying 1 or 2 of these 5-packs and just stick 'em in a drawer. According to Samsung, the glasses will last up to 70 hours (of active use) per battery, so you won't need to replace the batteries often.

All in all, a great product for an excellent price.

You can't beat the price for these 3D glasses. It's a smart way to keep several pair on hand for guests, but I'm not convinced they are the best glasses for primary use. The 3D effect is very good, I have no complaints about that. However, the design is seriously lacking, in my personal opinion.

The glasses don't have sides and even the tops are open, so they let in too much light and other distractions. I really don't think it would have cost more than a few cents more to offer better coverage, and I would be willing to pay even an additional $5 for that tiny bit of extra plastic. I'm considering picking up some soft black fabric and a hot glue gun to make side curtains :)

The glasses do not fold, so they are awkward to store. The box they came in won't work for storage since it only held the un-assembled glasses, but I was able to find some small boxes large enough to hold each pair safely when not in use.

The clear 3D view wins 5 stars from me. I deducted 2 stars for the issues above.

I'm not a big 3D guy, but I wanted to check out the 3D on my Panasonic ST50. I decided to go ahead and pick these up since they're approximately 30 bucks cheaper than the Panasonic glasses.

Overall, the glasses perform quite well with the ST50. I've had 0 issues getting the glasses and TV to work together.

There are two things (one negative, one positive) I'd like to point out. The negative thing is that due to the design, there are no "sides" near the glass lenses. This makes your head feel a bit naked and I believe allows more ambient light in which isn't good for the picture (I may be wrong about this).

The positive thing is that for people with massively sized heads like me, these glasses are perfect. Traditional glasses do eventually fit around my head, but these are much more comfortable to put on.
