3.0 out of 5 stars O.K. product, but you really don't have any other choices
This wireless receiver goes with the Samsung home theater system. It took me quite a while to make it work. I know if the id is right, then it will be just a matter of hooking it up. But I had to reset the ids for several times after the signal was lost.

I bought this product for use with the Samsung HT-Z310T 5.1-Channel Home Theater Surround Sound System.

Samsung HT-Z310T 5.1-Channel Home Theater Surround Sound System (Set of Seven, Black)

Even though the directions were sparse, using this was as simple as plugging in the rear speakers to the unit, plugging in the unit and inserting the transmitter card into the back of the Samsung Home Theater control unit.

At first I thought I didn't setup the unit properly because I didn't hear any sound from the rear speakers, but then I realized I just needed to set the Samsung Home Theater system to the right audio mode in order to get it to work. For example, the Dolby 5.1 mode only works if you are using a media such as the DVD or XBox360 that supports Dolby 5.1 to hear the rear speakers. If your source is something like a component audio device or coaxial cable you need to change the audio mode to "Cinema" or one of the other effects modes to use the rear speakers through the wireless link.

Most of the sources I have for my TV are Dolby 5.1 anyways, so when moving to a coaxial DirectTV player that doesn't do 5.1 I don't change the mode, I just go without the rear speakers -- it doesn't really bother me. The cool thing about this wireless unit is that when you shutdown the Home Theater system, the wireless unit senses the shutdown and puts itself into "standby" mode, thereby drawing very little power.

I've had the Samsung Home Theater and this wireless transmitter for two months now and I've had no problems. Very satisfied with the sound quality -- I've got an optical audio out from the TV to the Home Theater system and the rear speakers sound fantastic when driven by this wireless unit.

This wireless receiver goes with the Samsung home theater system. It took me quite a while to make it work. I know if the id is right, then it will be just a matter of hooking it up. But I had to reset the ids for several times after the signal was lost.

Also the reception is not as good as my HD-BD1250 manual indicates. I had to put the receiver as close as possible to home theater base. Otherwise, the signal will be gone. And I will get "rear check" on the Blue-Ray player and intermittent sound loss. After a while, I figured out the signal was gone.

You really don't have any other choices at all. This is the only option for wireless receiver for your Samsung home theater. It is great when it works. You just have to place it in the right place.

7/15/2010 update: I found why the signal is lost. You have to make sure you are not blocking the signal from the transmitter on the home theater system to the receiver. For example, with my set up, the signal is lost if I sit on the floor right in front of the TV. You have to careful about how you arrange them.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love not having to string wires all over the room., September 13, 2008
This review is from: Samsung SWA-4000 Wireless Receiver (Electronics)
I can't believe the people that complain about the small amount of wiring it takes to connect the right and left speakers that are actually run by the unit. I will take this to having to string four wires clear across my apartment just for two little surround speakers!

Besides, I think people don't realize how much interference they are introducing to the home with all the wireless remotes, cell & walkabout phones, routers, and computers!

This unit came with the HT-Z410 home theater system and works well. The rear speakers only work when true 5.1 and/or surround sound is present on the DVD or TV signal. If the HTS doesn't sense a clear digital audio signal when in D-in mode it will shut down automatically. I am having trouble with this but I don't know if it is because the cable box is putting out substandard data, or the cheap optical cable is the problem.

For some reason turning on the DVD side of the unit solves the sound problem, some times it works right off the bat. This intermittent nature is vexing but I will digress until I buy a more expensive, higher quality optical cable. In DVD mode, playing movies it works flawlessly.

I would recommend this neato unit to anyone using a compatible Samsung system. It is very easy to set up and test. When using this unit with a home theater system you plug the transmitter "stick" into the back of the HTS system and use this wireless module to setup the rear surround part of the system. You only have to provide wires to the two back speakers this unit controls.

When the room is hot the module occasionally runs a cooling fan, but it isn't as noticable when actually watching a surround sound type movie; and when the room is cool I don't notice it coming on very often if at all. I have never noticed a "white noise" or static sound coming from the speakers at idle, so that shouldn't be a problem compared to previous models.

5.0 out of 5 stars Was Worried, no problems, September 11, 2008

I got this coupled with the Samsung HT-Z310T 5.1-Channel Home Theater Surround Sound System (Set of Seven, Black) and I was worried at first because the other reviews were so bad, however, I got them and they work great. The only issue I've had is that the system does not let you do a tone test with these wireless speakers. It was the first thing I did when I plugged them in and I thought they didn't work, but when I tested it out with a movie, they worked perfectly. Good buy.

I got this for my Samsung HTZ320 surround sound system. The brochure said to get the 4100 and I first got that but the first one blew up in smoke upon connecting and the second was just plain defective.

After troubleshooting with Samsung tech support, I was told that the SWA-4000 (or the SWA-3000)would work equally well for this surround sound system.

So after returning the SWA-4100 (second defective one) to Samsung Parts, I then purchased the SWA-4000 (for $50 less) from Amazon. It was easy to set up and worked fine. It gives great sound and fulfils the purpose for which it was meant, which is to avoid having wires across the room. So far I am satisfied and happy with it.

UPDATE: December 2010
Stopped working after a while. Think I'm giving up on any type of Samsung sound system this time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy setup, easy hookup, works great, September 22, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Samsung SWA-4000 Wireless Receiver (Electronics)
I bought this SWA-4000 remote rear speaker setup to use with my Samsung Blu-ray home theater system. It was a piece of cake to hook it up, it came with shorter speaker wires for use with the rear speakers, the wireless transmitter paired with the receiver automatically, and the speaker test that's integrated into the home theater made it easy to confirm that the speakers were working. Since it's the same speakers that were provided with the home theater, the sound seems identical.

The most frustrating part of the whole purchase and installation was trying to register the unit on the Samsung web site. Although the serial number on the shipping carton and the serial number on the receiver were a perfect match, the Samsung website was convinced that my serial number was invalid. After a couple of tries, I gave up and called Samsung's 1-800-SAMSUNG number and got the unit registered, but it should not be that hard.

This does work as it should and saves stringing wires acros the room. The only drawback is it has a fan for some reason that runs when using and makes a little noise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly with my HT-X715T, April 9, 2009

This review is from: Samsung SWA-4000 Wireless Receiver (Electronics)
I had heard mixed reviews on this product and was a bit concerned about performance and compatabililty. Set up was simple, everything idendified each other and it worked right out of the box. I was also worried about the ditance for tranmit/receive, but even at 30 feet with all sorts of other electronics, Wi-Fi, cordless transmitters, cell phones, etc., I have never received any kind of interference.

In hind-site, most of the complaints that I've heard come from those with older systems or other brands that might not be compatible. My system is all Samsung (LN46A750, HT-X715T, SWA-4000), and I know that makes things easier.

It was easy to set up. I cannot get the back wireless speakers to work. I have tried everything. The sound I am getting out of the front and center speaks is decent. If I have to wire the back speakers this system was a waste of money. Has anyone had the same issue? Has anyone solved this issue?
