We've been using our Chromebook for about a week and a half now, with pretty extensive use. Overall, as others have said, if you know what you're buying then you'll be very pleased. The screen is great, the start up and resume amazing. We use it to browse, do email, and a lot of streaming TV shows and movies. I have also tried doing some work on it when I was laid up on the couch, and as predicted, it wasn't very good for that - you can view PDF files easily, Word documents not at all. So, overall, knowing that it's not going to be a work computer but just basically a good toy for web use, it's great.

The only reasons I didn't give it five stars are hardware. Like others, I am not a fan of some of the keyboard modifications. I miss having certain keys that were eliminated, such as "end" and "home" or being able to have some keyboard shortcut to jump to the top or bottom of a document, or the end or beginning of a sentence. The backspace key is just slightly farther away, which took getting use to. I miss having a real delete key. And I find that the action is a little weird and I often end up with extra random letters in a word, which I don't with other keyboards. That could just take adjustment though.

The touchpad is also I think great but takes getting used to. The action on the click is kind of stiff, but in your settings you can enable tap-to-click. But it's quite sensitive and easy to accidentally jump around by brushing it with your hand.

The number of apps available is very limited, so it's certainly not going to have the pizazz of an iPad or other tablet with lots of games, but that may change.

Basically I love it and two of us in the household are using Chromebooks as our main computers. I got exactly what I asked for and it was worth the wait. The Chromebook works exactly as advertised. Most places locally have access to a WiFi network or I use my Nexus 1 as a wireless hotspot so this is not an issue. I use my Chromebook to access the servers at work and I perform all my personal work with ease. Major downside is the processor is too slow for games on G+ with our local anemic broadband network speed. The track pad took getting used too.

While i understand who this device is targeted at I am not really one of those people but the premise kind of intrigued me so i went ahead and bought one. The battery life and simplicity of the chromebook while having decent hardware seemed to appeal to me i guess. This is the first laptop of sorts that i have ever bought. I have built my own PC's over the years but never really had a desire to own a laptop for they aren't easy to work on and i just never had a real need for one.

What people need to realize when you purchase one of these is that you are buying into a new idea that, with time and commitment, will eventually improve in the next couple years. i wasn't one of the first android phone users but i can only imagine that there were some serious growing pains. People want everything asap today and then complain when they realize the product is far from final. Most of the issues today will either be resolved or you'll just have to realize that this type of device isn't for you. Anyhow, on to my thoughts.

I'll start with the things I'd like to see changed first. I understand this is first and foremost about the "cloud" but i think the ability to do more locally is important. You can download a zip/rar file to your chromebook but you can't really do anything with it. Support for network drives etc would also be quite helpful. Hopefully they will add support for remote desktop control as well. Lack of hdmi port is a bit disappointing but not a deal breaker for me at this time. For a device with above average specs I have noticed several slowdowns/lags etc while browsing different web pages. For a device designed exactly for web surfing and such this is fairly unacceptable at this point. I realize this could be more due to chrome itself so i'll wait and see.

Seriously, though. This is a great device. Most of the people on here need to go buy a full fledged laptop if they need Photoshop and other applications.

The hardware is great. The trackpad is great. The keyboard is fantastic. The size of the laptop is perfect. The battery life is beautiful. Ambient light sensor? Awesome. Webcam? HD and awesome.

Look, it's a simple notebook. Go read more about it before you buy it. See what others say. It's a great device for school. I can't imagine anything else doing what the Chromebook does in my college classes. I can leave it on (with the screen on) for all day in class and look up stuff and type notes in Springpad/Google Docs all while being on Google+ talking to friends and monitoring my text messages from Google Voice in the browser via the extension.

You have to be 100% locked in to the Google ecosystem to enjoy this product. And I am one of those people, and have 15,000+ songs uploaded to my Google Music account and could not be happier.

Thanks for everything, Sundar & Google. You've gone above and beyond.

Fast, easy to use and no management headaches. Excellent product. I think ChromeOs fills a much needed niche in today's computer industry landscape.
