42 days of joy and then support nightmare
on April 8, 2012
Bought this Hard Disk for my MBP work great at first, but after about 30 days started having random crashes. Kept thinking the crashes were not related to the drive until the machine refused to boot at day 42. Lucky I was able to get data off the drive before RMA and return to Samsung. That is when the "fun" began. I return drive to there repair people early December. Call repair facility DEC 23 and told Seagate now owns all Samsung drives warranties etc. . After a run around for 2 months trying to chase down the drive I finally get Seagate to ship a new 1TB drive. Now being April 5th I finally get the replacement drive, however it is no longer a Samsung 1TB drive it is a Seagate free play 1TB. The new drive is the thickest laptop drive I have seen since early drives in my old powerbook 100. The new drive is to big to fit into any laptop or case or game system I own. I am not even sure why Seagate would make such a thick drive seems useless to me. Save your money look at the Western Digital drive I have had one going now for 3 months. I will use this replacement drive for an archive that will I will remain skeptical on anything less than a last resort for data storage.
