I've been waiting to upgrade to an LCD monitor. After reading the review on Samsungs smaller *MP monitors, I knew that I wanted a built in tuner, but I also knew I wouldn't be as satisfied with a 17" LCD.

Read the announcement on this model months ago, but Samsung was forever getting it to market. Very happy I waited for it.

Picture is wonderful using the analog 15pin input, has DVI as well, but I probably won't bother with until I upgrade video card. Can't imagine that my picture will improve much.

Response time is faster that most LCD's. DVD's, online games, etc. look great. Every pixel works.

Was really suprised by the sound quality. I had planned to set up external speakers to enhance the sound. After hearing the sound on this, I'm not in any rush. The finest sound I've heard from any multimedia monitor. (and I've owned the incredible Toshiba with the built in subwoofer).

If you don't require or think you might want the built in tuner, Samsung has some similarly spec'd 19" lcd's that are more reasonably priced.

I'm glad I purchased this one.

So, I've been indoctrinated into the Samsung MP Monitor strategy. I owned the 150MP moved up to the 170MP and now I just bought the 192MP. As PC Monitors, I find all of them to be pretty good. What I'm always looking for is a better TV/DVD. I was disappointed with the 171MP with it's lack of ability to connect a DVD player (although it did HDTV). So, that's when I bought the 170MP.

I looked at the 172MP, but if I was going to do, I was going to do the 192MP. I also looked at the 173MW which is a very nice monitor, but it was 17" as well although it is 16:9. It also had some nice PIP with side-by-side configurations. In the end, the side-by-side made the computer screen very small and I decided against it. I also looked at the Sharp LL-M17W1U, but again the 17" was too small in a 16:9 format. Both of these made the PC monitor screen too small.

How do I like the 192MP? It's great.

Pros
*Better speakers than it's predessors.
*The component connection with progressive scan capability is awesome. The past monitors were better PC monitors than video. This one is very nice with the component connection for DVD. I would say the video has surpassed the quality of the PC screen. (Haven't tried HDTV yet).
*Connections on the left side (for headphone, composite/svideo w/audio) are easy to access although it would have been nice if they face backwards instead of out to the side.
*The connections on the back are easier to get to than previous models.
*The wheel around the power button for channel and volume is a nice touch.
*Menu, Exit, Enter, Source, PIP, MagicBright buttons on the right side are handy.
*Having only the power button with the channel/volume ring makes the front look very clean and elegant.
*The infrared for the remote is below the power button works better than previous placement on the top. On older models, the placement at the top sometimes made it hard to get to with a glare screen on it.
*The monitor knows when nothing is connected to an input and it will skip it as a choice when scrolling through the inputs. So, you don't waste time passing through inputs with no connections.
*I don't do gaming, so I don't have an opinion there.
*There's a wide mode for the screen to watch DVDs in the 16:9 aspect ratio.
*PIP can be 4:3 or 16:9

Cons
*I liked the other models which showed which input it was on using LEDs and they took that away.
*Doesn't have a line out to let me go between external speakers and internal speakers (but the connection is on the side, so it's easy to pull in and out).
*The PIP isn't very flexible with size (one size) and position (four positions). The older models had more flexibility. The 150MP the most. It diminished a little with the 170MP.

Conclusion - This is doing what I want (above the 170MP I had). Bigger, better screen. Great for DVDs with component progressive scan. The speakers are much better. The look is much cleaner and it's more ergonomic. I'm very happy with this monitor. It's just really expensive. But, I think it does deliver.

I was hoping to buy a new PC for college, and since monitors are optional, there is a wide variety of available models. But specifically I wanted something with TV-tuner so I can use same screen for both PC and TV, saving a considerable amount of space Since I also own a laptop (and all I have is a 4 to 2 ft workspace) this fit perfect. I used CRT moniters till I bought this, and after using 192MP for 5 months, the old 17" CRT back home disturbed me a lot. Also has speakers, but I also plug iPod in when I'm playing CS or some other game. I also use PiP (Picture in Picture) a lot, and that was also satisfactory. Even though you can only have two sizes (box and wide) and place it to 4 specific locations around the corners, you get used to it. Expecting more would be too optimistic..

One thing is price. It's probably 200 dollars more than its nearest competitor without a TV-Tuner, and I bet you can buy 4-5 TV's to that price. Also I paid more since I bought it a long time ago. But I can say that if you can afford it, then this product will worth every penny.

if you are looking for a lcd monitor with tv tuner/pip/video capability, this is the one for you. unless you want the larger size version, that is.

great picture, sound quality, and features... you can't go wrong buying this monitor. only con is not having an included dvi cable.

I just purchased a Samsung SyncMaster 192MP as an upgrade for my current computer, a Dell circa 2001. I was upgrading form a ViewSonic 17" CRT, circa 1996. I love it. I should add that I have only owned it a few days and have no current plans to use it as a TV or with its built-in sound, so I cannot attest to reliability, usefulness as a TV, or the sound quality. My current video adapter has only the standard VGA 15-pin analog "D" output, so I have not had a chance to see what things look like with DVI. I run at the native resolution of 1280x1024 at 72 Hz.

The verdict (so far): The monitor is very bright. The colors are clean. The image is sharp. I have noticed no dead pixels. I do not play really fast video games, but I have noticed no issues with latency or ghosting in normal use. It is true that any LCD would be better than my old CRT, but I have had both a Dell 19" LCD (don't remember the model) and an HP L1925 LCD at work. Both of these are also nice. I have not done a side-by-side comparison, but the picture from the Samsung 192MP is at least as good as the L1925 and probably a bit better than the Dell.

The 192MP worked correctly right out of the box, although I was careful to make sure I had set my display adapter to run in a compatible mode ahead of time. The only bad thing I have to say about this monitor is that after trying the auto-adjust feature some of the text became fuzzy. However, when I went back to the default "custom" settings, everything was perfect.

I did a fair bit of research on 19" displays before I bought this one. I also considered the Samsung SyncMaster 910T very seriously. I did not get a chance to see a 910T live, but on paper it is a slightly better monitor, although it lacks the TV tuner and speakers. The 910T is significantly cheaper, however. If you just want a monitor, the 910T is probably a better choice. For me, the ability to hook it up directly to a DVD player was worth the extra money, since I pan to upgrade my computer in about two years, and I will likely want a better monitor to go with it at some point.

I have now owned this monitor a couple of months and am still very happy with it. I use it to watch DVD's (normal movies played using my computer's DVD drive.) I have not noticed any ghosting in normal viewing, although I did not specifically look for it.

I purchased mine about 5 months ago and it has been a very handy addition to my tech room.

The Picture in Picture (PIP) works great, and I have a security camera hooked up to the AV input. So now I can sit in my office, work or watch TV and also have the PIP of my front door.

The monitor is very configurable with preset brightness settings or fine tuning available. Decent built in sound is nice, and the size and footprint are just right.

This monitor looks great. Easy to set up. At first I had it hooked up to my VGA video card and it looked good. Then I bought a DVI video card, hooked that up and it looks even better! The only drawback is it only looks this good at it's native 1280x1024 resolution, which makes pictures on web pages look small as compared to the 800x600 I was used too. If you plan on hooking up S-Video there is only one port for that on the side which will look tacky. If you need a space saving monitor and TV, this is the deal for you.

Update: Still going strong after 6 years. I now use it as a 20" HDTV monitor.

This is a single device that allows selection of composite, component (progressive DVD and HD sources), PC monitor and broadcast (cable TV) video at a push of a remote control button. Basically it was necessary only to plug in the sources and up they came.

It offers a number of color adjustment and other setup options but in a month or so of usage in all modes I have felt little need to diverge much from the default settings.

Its slim size and weight are a great relief from the bulk of CRT monitors.

I shopped around for a flat LCD monitor with tv tuner. I didnt find much out there. I found this one and really liked all the features it has to offer. The quality and clarity is very crisp and clean. You can plug cable to this monitor and watch cable tv while you work on your computor from home. I recommend this LCD 19" flat monitor to anyone. A little expensive but well worth it.

This has been a great monitor. Super sound and clarity. I replaced it with a new larger flat screen and gave it to my pastor. She is happy as a clam with it.
