I bought this LCD monitor because a number of places have given it excellent reviews. I also had a Samsung 191T, which I really liked. I've only had the monitor for about a day now, but I was so impressed by it that I just ordered another one. The contrast and clarity is truly amazing. I've used many different LCD monitors and while my favorite continues to be the Apple 20" Cinema display, this is now my 2nd favorite (and as I am getting accustomed to the pivot feature, the Apple display may be in trouble...). Yes, it comes with a pivot display mount that not only allows you to raise, lower, tilt and turn the montior to any position imaginable, it also lets you rotate the screen 90 degrees to portrait mode. Unlike the more expensive rotatable monitors that have an 'auto-sensing' thingie which automatically switch your display output between portrait and landscape based on the position of the monitor, this one requires you to use a software utility (included) to manually select the orientation of the output. To be honest, I didn't even realize this was a feature on this monitor. I based my initial purchase decision on the manufacturer specs and price. Since this was intended to replace a 21" Sony CRT on my development PC, image quality was secondary to form factor and price. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the display and I was extremely pleased to discover the rotation feature.
I was originally going to mount this monitor on a VESA arm, but after using the included stand, I'm having second thoughts. The stand itself is the best that I've ever seen on an LCD monitor. It allows for good cable management and almost infinite adjustability while not presenting a huge footprint.
Anyway, so far, this seems to be an outstanding monitor for the price (actually cheaper than many crappier 17" LCDs I've seen). Though, you do need to shop around for the best price since I've seen it range from $549 to $800+. It's unusual to see such a wide range in the street price. I ended up getting it from Amazon because with the free 'super saver free shipping', it came out to be darn near the best deal (and I've had nothing but good experiences with Amazon so far).

Conclusion - do NOT buy one of these monitors! At this price and value, you NEED to get at least two (dual monitor setups are shweeeeet!!). :-)

I bought the Samsung 910T monitor to replace my 17" inch CRT, the difference is amazing! Awesome picture, colors, sharpness, and brightness. Setup was very easy, no dead pixels. I did a lot of research, my brother has a viewsonic vp191b, which is considered one of the best monitors in the market, I am so glad I bought this one instead, I compared them both next to each other, and no noticeable differences between them, in fact the 910T Text looked much better , and paying about 150 bucks less, I think I did the right choice.
I sure recommend this monitor, I am in love with mine.

I've had this monitor for a week and I love it. It's attractive, bright, sharp, and relatively inexpensive. It's the purchase I've been happiest with in a long time. I even ordered it with FREE Super Saver Shipping and it arrived two days after I ordered it. I originally thought that I would switch back and forth between the landscape and portrait modes (which is easy to do with the supplied software), but it hasn't left portrait mode since I put it there. Portrait's just better for every application (web browsing, reading PDFs, working in Word, programming...). I guess it's not better for watching movies, but I don't do that on the computer. I highly recommend trying a monitor that can rotate like this.

So far my father and a friend have seen my monitor and both immediately bought it too. (My father also bought it on Amazon with the cheapest shipping and it arrived within two days.)

I can see one bad pixel on mine, but I think that's not uncommon with large LCDs. It only shows up on a black background, not one white, so it's mostly unnoticeable.

5.0 out of 5 stars A terrific monitor for the office or home, October 29, 2004

I've had the Samsung 910T 19" LCD monitor (black) for over two months now, and it is great. Mine arrived with no dead pixels and it as clear today as it was when I bought it. Plug and play all the way. While the monitor supports both analog and digital, I use it in analog mode since my computer doesn't support the superior digital mode. I haven't used the monitor rotating function which allows you to rotate the screen 90 degrees for a portrait view. I am at my computer 8 hours a day with no problems. There are two versions of the stand, one is kind of a v-shaped wedge and the other is perpendicular. The difference is cosmetic. I was the third person at my job to get this screen, and since then, three others have bought this.

Very good, crisp & bright monitor, however I can't get it to run at any more than 60 Hz, in _any_ resolution, this is disappointing me. There isn't any good paper documentation with it, and the online docs are harder to follow than other products that I've used. An internal power supply is a plus for this monitor, and you can rotate it. I also use the dual input to my advantage, and have one system on the DVI and another on the analog, and it makes it easy to have two computers use the single display to minimize desk clutter of another monitor. There is a pin in the back that you need to remove to raise the monitor up and down, it's very stubborn and you feel like you're going to break something when removing it, but it will come out with some effort.

I may sound like I'm ripping on this product quite a bit, But I really do love it, it's certainly got the best picure of any monitor I've used, and it takes up next to no space on my desk and offers a clean way to clear up my workspace. I am considering getting one or two more of these for a multi monitor setup.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, but..., February 21, 2005

...a slight edge to the Viewsonic VP191, which is selling at about the same price point and is also rotatable (a truly priceless feature!). On the Internet though you can find this Samsung at about a hundred dollars less than the VP191.

During the course of my extensive shopping around, I found that while the Samsung has a higher contrast ratio and higher brightness rating on paper, in reality the Viewsonic appears to be of about the same sharpness, and more importantly is significantly brighter! And yes, I did play with the monitor adjustment buttons of both monitors, the maximum brightness setting on the Samsung is equivalent to about 50% brightness on the Viewsonic. Go figure...is Samsung playing fast and loose with its specs? Or is the screen surface of the Viewsonic somehow "brighter" than that of the Samsung's? I'm not sure, but I am sure of what my eyes saw: Viewsonic offers a better picture.

Otherwise, Samsungs do offer terrific bang for the buck. I have many friends who are quite happy with their Samsungs, and I have an old Samsung 17" CRT which has held up well over a couple years' heavy usage. In short, when you compare Samsung monitors to the really cheap 300 dollar off-brands, in my opinion the extra hundred or so you spend for the Samsung is well worth it for most people's uses.

Both the Samsung and Viewsonic easily beat out the Sony LCDs though, even though the Sonys are usually more expensive. This surprised me because I find their TVs are still top-notch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big, Bright, Beautiful!, October 2, 2004
This review is from: Samsung SyncMaster 910t 19" LCD Flat Panel Monitor -Black (Electronics)
As usual, I did due diligence and spent a couple weeks comparing and pricing EVERYthing available in 19" LCD monitors, and I'm VERY pleased with the results. I am a photographer, and the difference between my old Dell LCD monitor (whoever makes those) and this Samsung 910T is stunning! I also invested in a digital video card for true digital output and can't stop smiling at the overall result. Amazon had a great price ($599) which is about $200 less than Dell wants. There were a couple sites where I could have saved $30-40 on this item, but they all had lousy customer ratings. Thanks Amazon, once again, for an awesome product and deal!

I bought this LCD monitor because a number of places have given it excellent reviews. I also had a Samsung 191T, which I really liked. However, I needed to get a new monitor to replace that one, and unfortunately, the 910T does not measure up. The problem here is ghosting, and this is not even when you play games with fast moving images. The ghosting is when you just move the mouse cursor across the screen. The mouse arrow smears, and you see something like a vapor trail of mouse cursors. This is extremely annoying. After some research, most places have said that this ghosting is due to the slow 25ms response time on the 910T. However, I remember that my old 191T had the same response time, and this issue was not noticeable at all. Another thing is that the ghosting issue is better when you use the DVI (or digital) line as opposed to the Analog link. When I use DVI, the mouse cursor still ghosts, but it's not as noticeable and bearable to where I'll keep the monitor. However, I'm still very disappointed because the 191T didn't ghost this much in analog mode. One good point is that the colors look very nice on the monitor probably due to the 1000:1 contrast ratio. Another thing is that every thing looks sharper on DVI. For example, when I'm in Windows explorer, the filenames look blurry in analog, but sharper in digital. I guess the moral of the story is that you better have a DVI port in your video card if you buy this monitor.

5.0 out of 5 stars everything you need, nothing you don't, June 17, 2005

No built-in speakers, no fancy trim, the 91t is a high-performance display in a quality package -- and just the right size at a sweet-spot price point. This product has everything you need (and should remain compatible with next-gen computers for years to come) and nothing you don't.

The 91t replaces the old 191t which, at its release, offered the narrow most narrow bezel of any LCD monitor. The 91t improves on the 191t with better contrast ratio and a power supply integrated internally (without increasing the size of the housing.

Features include 1280x1024 resolution via VGA and DVI inputs (cables included) switchable from the SOURCE button on the front panel, enabling you to connect and switch between two computers. For desktop publishing, the monitor can be rotated from landscape to portrait mode and comes with software to rotate your desktop to match the monitor's orientation.

The DVI interface is what makes LCD panels worth buying. The difference is truly striking when switching between the two inputs on the 91t (VGA looks blurry compared to DVI at native resolution). For some, it may be necessary to upgrade your video card in order to use the DVI input (a mere $30 upgrade you can do yourself).

The 19" sweet-spot. Think bigger is always better? The 19" flat panel is the ideal size for all work (including CAD and desktop publishing). Unless you work for NASA, Pixar or manipulate huge, detailed CAD dwgs, the 21" flat panel is way too big and does not offer substantially higher resolution.

In the past 4-yrs, Samsung has invested billions in R&D and it is evident in the quality and features of their current "pro-sumer" product line (flat panels and home cinema displays).

Graphics are bright and sharp. Contrast is great. Nice large viewing area (I'm used to CRTs that say they're 19" but the actual viewing area is more like 18"). For some reason text was fuzzy at first, but then I stumbled upon the "auto" adjustment for contrast and brightness and now the text is perfect too. Pivot feature works surprisingly well and will come in handy for page layout where a vertical format is better. I love this monitor!
