Affordable amplified HDTV antenna - received all HD channels in the DFW area with minimal tweaking via antenna input on DirecTV HD Tivo unit. All HD channels except 2 have 90% signal strength in my Arlington, TX home, which is about 16-20 miles from most transmitters. Nice form factor also.

It works - if you put (too much) work into it,

I live within 7 miles of the transmitter, with a hill and many buildings in-between. I've tuned in most available channels, but only by carefully moving the antenna (often into awkward positions) nearly every time I change channels. Simply, it takes too much effort. I'll try a signal booster or different antenna before I give up and go to cable.

This thing works passably well, but you have to keep fiddling with it to get the best results. If you can't afford (or don't want) cable or dish service, the Samsung TV5.2 SAX offers a reasonable, inexpensive way to get HD images on your set if you live fairly close to local HD broadcast sources. But prepared to tweak it a lot!

Much better than the Radioshack antenna I bought and cheaper too.
Don't be fooled by the picture... this puppy is almost a foot wide. The height-adjustable stand is OK but the antenna top is a bit wobbly on it. The only other gripe I have is the length of the cable. It's about 3 ft which doesn't allow for much "covert positioning". Other than that, it's just fine. Got 9 decent HD channels out of this in Denver area. FYI... If you have a HD TV and want to see what it can REALLY do, try terrestrial digital channels such as the ones this can receive. HD Cable and HD Satellite compress their signals and make for a degraded picture. Over-the-air HD signals are not compressed and look spectacular!

This antenna enable me to watch weekend sports in HD. I can watch three major public channels in High Definition. Highly recommend it.

I must be too far away,
This review is from: Samsung TV5.2 SAX Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna (Electronics)
This is a nice looking antenna and it should be for the price, but I'd take ugly rabbit ears for great reception. I read reviews that this got great reception for people who were within 15 miles of the towers. I live in a suburban/city area with towers 18-20 miles away and figured I'd get alright reception. Unfortunately, no matter what I did, even putting this thing outside, I didn't get much reception at all. The best channel I got was less than 15 miles away, so it should have looked great, but it was very grainy. I couldn't give this a good rating of course, but I do think this will work for certain people in the right environment.
