Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Enjoy glare-free images and flicker-free progressive-scan movies with the Samsung 27-inch flat-screen TV, which features a three-line digital comb filter and an antidistortion DynaFlat picture tube. Unlike many CRT televisions, the TXP2745P is compatible with 480p progressive-scan DVD players, doubling the scan resolution of traditional devices to eliminate blurring and occasional flickering. Progressive scan also provides sharper edges and detail than 480i images, and combines with such features as 3:2 pulldown processing to give original film sources a better picture when converted to video. Other video enhancements include three-stage video correction, velocity scan modulation (which further refines resolution), vertical compression for widescreen anamorphic DVDs, and Total Digital Signal Processing (DSP) for converting analog signals to digital.

Viewers will appreciate the variety of convenient user features, such as widescreen and zoom viewing modes, V-chip parental control, a sleep timer, a multilingual onscreen menu, and front panel controls that let you operate the TV if the remote is hiding. Audio flows through the 15-watt side speaker system (7.5 watts x 2) with MTS stereo decoding. The TV also lets the viewer select one of several preset sound modes--standard, movie, music, speech, or custom--that best fits with the chosen programming.

Progressive-scan DVD players connect to the TV through one of the two sets of component inputs (the other is ideal for a satellite connection). The device also offers three rear composite inputs for such components as VCRs, camcorders, or video game consoles, along with a side AV input for quick connection. The connectors are rounded out by an S-video input and a set of AV outputs.

What's in the Box
TV, remote control, two AA batteries, user's manual.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good TV for price but problems, May 17, 2005

I've had this TV for about five months and the picture is fairly good and the sound is alright, its what you would expect from two internal TV speakers. But when I got it, the left side of the screen was tinted green. But I don't think it's the TV, it probably wasn't shipped right or placed by a magnetic device. You may be wondering why I haven't gotten somebody to look at, I'm just really busy. But anyway it has a fair amount of inputs, but it only has one output, which is an A/V output. Also, it only has a NTSC tuner, so you can't take advantage of the progressive scan picture with over-the-air channels or digital cable unless you have a seperate digital tuner, which the cheapest one cost around $150.00. I would recommend looking elsewhere for a good EDTV.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware, April 28, 2005

This set started shutting itself off intermittently a week after I bought it. When the repairman came, however, it worked perfectly. Then 5 months later it started shutting itself off as soon as it was powered on, and this time the repair is costing $225- for a set that's less than 6 months old!
