4.0 out of 5 stars great for the price
You need something to tide you over until HDTV prices come down? I got this TV and it takes a little messing around with the picture to get it looking good, but once you figure that out, DVD's look AWESOME! IT's like watching on a HDTV. 1.0 out of 5 stars CRT failure
At 7 months the CRT failed on this product, it cost $65.00 to have the authorized dealer tell us that. The solution was a complete replacement of the television and since it is out of warranty, charged another $120.00. After 4 calls to Samsung, I was finally referred to an office to look at my problem. Samsung would not reimburse me for anything. I would not buy...

You need something to tide you over until HDTV prices come down? I got this TV and it takes a little messing around with the picture to get it looking good, but once you figure that out, DVD's look AWESOME! IT's like watching on a HDTV. I've got digital cable, and the picture is a little grainy but still clearer than the 32" analog Sony Wega (no horizontal scan lines with this Samsung!!!) I would get an even nicer TV, but I want to wait until HDTV prices fall. This is a great inbetween analog and HDTV alternative. The only Negative statement I can make on this Samsung is that when you are close (within a few feet) to the tv the picture is a little grainy on broadcast television, but still as good as analog sets. Who needs to sit that close to their tv anyways?

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value, January 7, 2004

This tv is perfect for the kind of person who doesn't watch a lot of tv but wants to watch dvds and/or play games in 480p (progressive scan). Out of the box the tv needs to be calibrated to look its best (everything is set too high). Once adjustments are made you have a crystal clear digital picture - you just won't believe how good it is for this price. With 2 sets of component video inputs you can easily hook up a digital cable receiver and set it to output in 480p and you've essentially got an hdtv for much less money. Excellent quality. I don't know about the speakers as I use my surround sound system for that. A word of caution though some tvs of this model have poor power supplies but most are fine. If you are getting a poor picture or flicker exchange it for the same model (I had to do this). If you are getting an unbelievable crystal clear picture you've got a good one, don't settle for one of the duds. There's a hidden service menu that lets you adjust the picture quality further and fix geometry.. accessing this menu is a must just search online and you'll find out how.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome picture for the price -- after adjustments, September 23, 2003

This has to be the best deal currently going on ED/HDTV. I've had this set for almost two months and I love it. Out of the box, you might be unhappy with it, but if you search online, you'll find a message board full of good instructions on how to make the proper adjustments from within the service menu -- including a few settings that give the TV video/audio abilities it's not advertised to have. Get a calibration disc such as Video Essentials to help you make the adjustments. The 480p image, straight up from DVDs or digitally enhanced over-the-air, is gorgeous, with incredible clarity for a non-HD picture.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect TV for the price, March 20, 2005
This review is from: Samsung TXN3245FP 32" DynaFlat Digital EDTV (Electronics)
This TV is undoubtedly a "Perfect" one for the price. Crystal clear "digital" picture... no less than HDTV. I've owned this for almost an year and have no issues either with the picture quality or the sound quality.

When I was purchasing this TV, I've compared this with the Sony Analog 32'. This TV has better picture quality because of the fact that this one is a "Digital" TV. You can clearly see the difference. And sound quality is just amazing! You don't need a home theatre, if you tune this TV.

Overall, I am very satisfied with Samsung. I'll recommend this TV to all who have trouble making the decision with Sony analog 32 or any other analog 32' TV. Believe me, you'll not regret.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good choice at this time. Nov. 2003, November 28, 2003

Very good definition. A good alternative to the higher price HD offerings. If you need a TV now this is a good choice. I am going to wait until the dust settles to buy the HD or Plasma.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth 4.5 Stars, and the money, August 27, 2003

If you can get past the size of the box (like a ford excursion parked in your living room), and spring the extra $.. for component video cables, you'll find it difficult to beat the picture and sound for the price. Wasn't even considering this TV when shopping. Was looking at Sony and Toshiba 32" analog sets, then happened to see both of them next to this TV. Asked the sales guy why this one was the same price but looked so much better. Then learned about the world of EDTV (Enhanced Digital TV), which is the best of both worlds. Same price as comparable analog sets but with much better picture, and no horizontal lines--big distinction from analog sets! Much less than HDTV AND!!! the price of the in-home warranty for HD is 3 times as much as analog and EDTV! Flat screens have more of a tendency to burn hot spots into the screen, so I'd definitely spring for the extra $$$ or so for 4-5 years of in-home service and peace of mind--considering the price of the TV, the extra $..is totally worth it.
Sound and picture might take some tinkering to get it right. Reasons for 4 or 4.5 stars instead of 5 are size of the box and stupid cell phone-type sound it makes when you turn it on or off. Maybe there's a setting for that one.
