PRO:

The clarity of this TV is astounding. With this TV, I can honestly say that I feel like I'm just peering through a window when watching HD content. There are times, three weeks into our purchase, that my wife and I exclaim "it's so clear!" while watching shows on 1080i. This is a big deal to me because we have a 65" Pioneer Kuro PRO-151FD in the living room, but now I prefer watching on this unit.

Blu-ray at 1080p is just beautiful and jaw-dropping. I played Ratatouille using a PS3, and the hairs on the mice and blades of grass are so detailed. I also noticed that the SD commercials seems clearer, and on some of them, someone with an untrained eye might mistake for HD if the pillars were not present.

I haven't hooked it up with a receiver yet, but the sound of the unit is more than adequate for our bedroom. We only go to "8" on the sound, which is animated as a blue circle on the lower left as opposed to a bar at the bottom of the screen. The "8" setting corresponds to about 1 o'clock, so you can go really loud if you wish.

I connected a PC to the unit and it can go up to 1920x1080 pixels at 60Hz, which is the max for my graphics card on that particular computer. Although it can display all those pixels, you can notice shadowing on the images and text. Not enough to give you a headache, but just enough to be noticed. If you do not plan on hooking a computer to this TV, then this is not a big deal. Actually, it's really minor considering you can watch Netflix and it does DLNA (accessing media files you share on your network).

I have this connected to my router via Ethernet, and even Netflix came out clear. I saw Dead LiKe Me and it still had that peering through a window effect. We watched Food, Inc. and was pleasantly surprised that Netflix serves that up in HD.

CON:
All HDMI inputs are located on the side. Although it's a good idea for game consoles and on the fly connectivity, I believe it would have been better to have one in the back and three on the side. This would give the users the option to use the rear connection for wall-mounting.

SUMMARY:
This is a great TV for around 8-10 feet of viewing. There are a lot of extras that you may not even touch, but if your main concern is clarity, you can't go wrong with this unit.

Just got this machine and I love it. Setup was easy, internet connectivity worked like a charm and the picture is so real it even movies look like live TV.
Speakers are not the best but a quick hook up to a real sound device solved that problem in about 5 minutes.
I would have given it 5 stars except for the speakers.
The menues are quick and intuitive and the remote is functional without a manual.
The whole TV out of the box without the stand is very light and easy to maneuver.
I mounted it on a wall mount, plugged it in, turned it on and was watching my Netflix in about 20 min, including packing up the trash.

After extensive research and trying out a couple sets, I've finally settled on the UN40C6500. This is Samsung's 2010 C series LED TV with Internet Apps. Here is my take on this set.

Aesthetics

This is a really nice looking TV. 1.1" thick, handsome bezel with integrated controls, with a unique chrome legged stand make this a stand out. The set also comes with a cord so you can hang it on the wall like a picture.

Picture

The picture on this set are beautiful. The picture is gorgeous with great color reproduction and deep black levels. The edge-lit LED backlight is great, except for some uniformity issues in the corners that can be noticed with an all-black screen. During normal viewing, this is not noticeable to me. The movement with the default settings is smooth and "video like", the same as you'd expect on any 120Hz or 240Hz, but what is great about this set is that you can customize the dejuddering and smoothing to a level of granularity that I've never seen before. Standard Definition TV viewing is one of the best I've seen.

Sound

The sound on this set is on par with other comparable sets, in other words, "meh". If you are an audiophile you probably already have a sound system to jack this TV into. If not, you might consider a sound bar or some inexpensive surround sound speakers. However, I've chosen to stick it out for awhile, and am content with the standard setup.

Device Connectivity

I'm most concerned with the number of HDMI ports, which this set has plenty of at 4. I wish it had separate component and AV jacks, but alas they are combined, so in my situation, I can't have my Wii and DVD player plugged in at the same time. This won't be a problem once I get a Blu-ray player. There are also two USB ports for viewing videos, photos, and firmware updates.

Network Connectivity

With Ethernet only, you either have to have a jack nearby, or go the wireless route. Samsung offers an unreasonably expensive USB dongle to provide Wifi access to your TV. I opted for a wireless bridge so I could connect both my TV and Tivo with wireless N speeds without having to buy two separate (and expensive) Wifi dongles.

Internet Apps

The UN40C6500 supports both Samsung Apps and Yahoo Widgets. The Samsung Apps are great, and support Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora, etc. The only thing I use Yahoo for is the Amazon video streaming. There is a good and growing selection of Samsung Apps, however, Skype is only available on the 7 Series sets and above.

This set is also DLNA compliant for streaming from computers and other compliant devices. There are also the "AnyNet+" feature for content and control sharing that I have not tested.

Other Features

The only other feature that I'd like to point out is the iPhone/iPad remote capability. I have no idea why this isn't touted more, because it is fantastic. The stock remote is fine, but the free Samsung Remote iOS app is great because of one killer feature: QWERTY Keyboard! Being able to enter user names and passwords without clicking letters out one-by-one using a number pad is so nice. Plus, if you can't find the remote, you just have to reach into your pocket for your iPhone. Awesome!

Summary

If you are looking for a TV with a great picture, decent sound, fun Internet apps, at a reasonable price, this is the TV for you. Plus, Samsung has a history of great quality, so it should last for quite some time.

This TV is great. No complaints with the product. I upgraded from a 1080i to this one and I can notice a big difference from the 1080i to the 1080p in the clarity and depth of color on the screen. I had a 1080i-32 inch Sharp and it was a nice flat screen TV but after doing research and reading reviews on the Samsung I chose to upgrade to this model. I am really glad I did because the picture, when watching high def shows, is much better than my old TV. I haven't hooked my blu-ray player up yet and watched a blu-ray movie but I purchased an HDMI cable for it so I know it is going to be fantastic. My only problem was with the shippers Amazon used to deliver. (I chose the free shipping option). I won't go into details since I have since returned to this product on their web page and they are no longer offering it until further notice (one of the reasons is their shipping method). Mine was delivered by CEVA (total nightmare). They don't pinpoint the issue but my money is on the shippers and I feel good that they will take the effort to try and resolve the issue. Overall I really like my new TV and enjoy shopping at Amazon.

This is my second Samsung TV. The first was a 56" 720p DLP that was state of the art when I bought it 5 years ago. How times have changed. The DLP is no where near as bright as the LED... but interestingly, the older 720p DLP is smoother when it comes to sports action. It turns out that even at 120Hz, the action of the 6500 LED is no where near as smooth as a 60Hz DLP. It really is noticeable but the clarity of the LED overcomes this issue. Although it is not 3D, the 40" 6500 LED has a high density of pixels per inch that it does not display the "screen door affect" found in older generation plasmas and LCD's. The images are really bright and so clear that it makes television broadcast in 1080i look you're looking at live action right there in your room. It is really kind of surreal.

I have the 6500 LED mounted on the bedroom wall in my apartment. I bought a cheap equivalent to the Samsung ultraslim wall mount on Ebay. The knock off was much cheaper than the $150 rip off that Samsung sells and the knock off works very well. With the slim wall mount the television hangs like a picture frame that literally lays ~1 5/8" off of the wall surface. Then all the wires are hidden away, it looks just like a picture frame.

The television has lots of options including the ability to not only set a sleep timer but is has a schedule timer that can be set to turn on to a particular channel and volume level. So I have it set to turn on M-F to my favorite morning channel with a preset volume that won't jolt me out of a sound sleep. The television has effectively replaced my alarm clock. There are three turn on timers so I could set different times depending on the day of the week.

The television has WiFi capabilities, but unfortunately, it requires a proprietary Samsung WiFi adapter which lists for $80. Other branded WiFi adapters will not work. Bummer.

All in all, it is a great television... but to be perfectly honest, I still spend more time watching my 56" 5 year old DLP. I have no plans to replace the older set until it dies.

One more note: There were no shipping problems what-so-ever. The freight company delivered it in perfect condition and on-time with no surprises.

Our extensive wall of built-in cabinetry was designed for the old 4:3 monster-size televisions. We were limited to a 40-inch size HDTV. The Samsung UN40C6500 fits perfectly. The swivel base makes for easy access to the rear and side
connections. The thin bezel looks sleek. Convenient touch controls placed on the lower right below the screen are unobtrusive. But the best part is this Samsung is smart, recognizing and connecting seamlessly to our home network, old VCR, new DVR, old surround sound system and receiver. The picture quality can only be called amazing. It has really impressed others who have HDTVs in their homes.
The frustrating glitch was our cable company. In the process to switching to a more propriety way of providing HD signals, they kept trying to pawn off old, reconditioned HD receiver boxes with coax connections. We spent hours on the phone with tech support, made several trips to their store to exchange equipment and had to schedule two visits by their technicians to get the new Samsung plus our other tvs to operate. The hangup with the new Samsung was the HD receiver (provided by the cable company) has to have an HDMI cable to the tv. Only their boxes with digital recording capabilities have this and they want to charge more for this service. We stumbled across this capability and were not told about it nor are we being charged.
We are still learning how to navigate the features. Inputting using the remote is a bit clumsy. We need to do more customizing of the apps to have a lineup of those we will use the most frequently. I like the picture-in-picture showing the current channel while viewing the program guide or internet apps. I haven't tried connecting my laptop yet.
Going from the dark ages to the future, we are finding this tv is lots of fun.

I moved a little out of my budget when purchasing a television and I am really happy that I did. While the Samsung UN40C6500 is a little pricey compared to other brands, I feel the picture quality and performance have been fantastic. I would not hesitate to recommend this television to anyone interested in getting a midrange LED set. Even the Cleveland Brown look good on this TV.

purchased this for our living room and it is definitely worth it! :) the only con though is that the delivery guy didn't really bother going through the inspection of the item (as it was said on the amazon guarantee page that the delivery guy will set-up tv to check for flaws and other stuff that might affect the quality of the merchandise). good thing, the unit is working perfectly.

picture quality is excellent. we watched avatar using the xbox360 as the player and the images were crisp and the small details were so visible, it was better than when we watched it on the big screen! internet@tv feature is awesome, too. love the allshare and you should definitely consider buying the samsung linkstick with it (if you hate exposed wires like me).

all in all, we're loving the tv and the features. movie night-ins would definitely be a date for us with this thing around!;)

My 40" Samsung LED HDTV (UN40C6500) has a great picture, but is not compatible with Macintosh computers. Maybe one day it will be, "when Apple lets them in." But until then, if you want to connect your MacBook Pro laptop, to this TV, using one of the HDMI inputs, to create a DROP-DEAD-GEORGEOUS monitor, FORGET IT! For now, to use as a monitor, you're limited to using Apple's DVI to Video adapter, with a COMPOSITE or S-Video cable, which is just above the VGA-quality range (I think). And if you want to upgrade the firmware on the TV, find a friend with a Windows computer to download the file onto a USB drive for you.

I ordered a bunch of cables from Amazon, including a DVI to HDMI adaptor. I've been spinning my wheels for 2 weeks. I spent 1 1/2 hours on Samsung's live Tech CHAT yesterday, and called their higher level TEIR 2 Customer Support today. The Customer support lady solved my problem rather quickly, responding to my problem with: Samsung TV's aren't compatible with Apple. Maybe one day they will be, when they let us in. Until then, it's 'Windows Only.' (That was strange, since I've read forum posts from successful MBP users (although some were glad to get any picture at all, and were moving up from a tube TV). Maybe it was my 15" laptop; maybe she took care of a lot of future calls today, with one brush stroke.)

I was teased with all the extras I read about in the Samsung Instruction Manual (part of doing homework before such a big purchase). The instruction Manual showed where to connect a Mac computer (it would always connect to HDMI1-- I tried that first).
You can still connect your Ethernet cable to it, or the Wi-Fi Adaptor-Dongle, for the Samsung apps. You might also be able to share computer content via Ethernet & Wi-Fi. I'm not quite sure. I'm brain-dead at the moment.

Oh, well, I'm sure of one thing. If you ever get up-tight, stressed-out, and have reached your limit because of all this techie stuff spinning around in your head and making absolutely no sense -- before you smash something expensive, or say something hateful/stupid to someone near & dear to you, remember, you can always use this Samsung as a TELEVISION, and you know, kick back & watch TV. It is a very, very nice TV.

After thorough research I chose this TV over competing models from Sony.
I'd definitely recommend this LED TV in 40" category.
