The data cable that came with my Samsung phone did just that; transfered data. As a result the battery is drained fast and there is no way to charge it as the data cable uses the same port as the power on my Samsung A900. The only problem I have with this cable is that it does not seem to charge the phone as quickly as the charger. The battery indicator does not indicate charging when plugged in. Instead, the battery indicator just indicates full.
