I purchased this phone as soon as it was available from another online retailer. The two reviews posted here are so different, thought I might throw in my 2 cents. The default supplier for the Samsung i8000 (on this Amazon website) is Worldwide Distributors. Because of other negative reviews about this supplier, I called them yesterday (Nov-19-2010) and asked if the i8000 they are shipping has 8 GB of internal memory as stated in the items description. I was told the phone they are currently shipping has only 4 GB of memory, yet...

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect, November 6, 2009
This review is from: Samsung I8000 Omnia II Unlocked Phone with 8 GB Memory 5 MP Camera, Windows Mobile, GPS, Wi-Fi--International Version No Warranty (Rose Black) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I purchased this phone as soon as it was available from another online retailer. The two reviews posted here are so different, thought I might throw in my 2 cents. I have had the phone since September. During that time I have used it pretty much constantly. The media capabilities are the best of any Windows Mobile Device I have ever had, including (axim x50v, tilt, ipaq 210 and diamond 2). The device plays almost all my movies out of the box with no transcoding necessary. You have to watch your bitrates though. I have tversity setup at home and use the connected home program on the device to stream my media files over the air. Very cool feature. This also has video out so I can hook it up to any TV with RCA inputs. You will need an additional cable to accomplish this though; it is not in the box. To make the most of this device, you need to purchase the A/V cable, a 16GB Micro SD card, additional screen protectors and I would suggest a case. You don't want to mess up the beautiful amoled screen on this phone. I compared this device to my iPod touch and the colors are amazing. The 5mp camera is good enough for quick shots, but you should not assume this will replace your point and shoot. I also have found that the camera on the front of the phone is a moot point until someone develops a Skype like program that does video on the phone. I have not found one yet. I agree with the one poster who complained about Samsungs reskinning of the email program, you will hate it, it is sluggish. I have been using SPB mobile shell in place of this and will never go back. The phone is fast, easy to use, responsive, and until windows mobile 7 or whatever they are calling it comes out, I think I have found my device. Take it from a gadget junkie, this phone is fantastic. I use AT&T prepaid in Washington DC and get mostly 3g+, some 3g, and rarely does is go slower than that. Connection speeds are on par with wifi at a hotspot, meaning that you get WebPages with a little delay. Home browsing is fast.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best phones, February 25, 2010
This review is from: Samsung I8000 Omnia II Unlocked Phone with 8 GB Memory 5 MP Camera, Windows Mobile, GPS, Wi-Fi--International Version No Warranty (Rose Black) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I have had this phone for about a month and I must say I love it.I didn't buy mine from Amazon. Here are the things I like:
-Large crisp screen
-The touchscreen feels like the iphone.
-2 to 3 days between charges
-improved touchwiz interface(I thought it was a joke on the 1st Omnia). You wouldn't believe it's a Windows mobile phone.
-packed with a lot of features especially the camera
-good speaker
-proximity sensor that turns off the phone during a call(Omnia 1 used to lock the screen)
-Adobe Le and Office preinstalled

Things I hate:
- the landscape keyboard is only available in the browser and messaging.Hello, what about Office mobile?
-the space bar of landscape keyboard should be larger
-speaker in the back
- it takes some research and effort to make mms and wifi work
If you are looking for an iPhone alternative,I definitely recommend the OmniaII.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware, November 20, 2010

The default supplier for the Samsung i8000 (on this Amazon website) is Worldwide Distributors. Because of other negative reviews about this supplier, I called them yesterday (Nov-19-2010) and asked if the i8000 they are shipping has 8 GB of internal memory as stated in the items description. I was told the phone they are currently shipping has only 4 GB of memory, yet the price is the same as advertised for the 8 GB phone. I guess this an improvement over the 2 GB phone another reviewer received <g> but is still not the phone that is listed on this Amazon storefront.

Since this appears to not be a new problem, I suggest it is time for Amazon to give this outfit (Worldwide Distributors) the boot or at least make them clean up their act.

I recieved this device some days ago. It looks excellent for WM lovers, but what is not good at all - I've got 2Gb version instead of 8Gb. Be careful!

Seller Worldwide Distributions DOES NOT have the 8gb model! I've asked Amazon to update their site last night to reflect the 2GB model. I gave 4 stars because this has nothing to do with the cell phone itself and I don't want to lower its rating but yet can't give it a 5 either.

I just ordered this in Nov 2010 and was so excited. It took less than 2 days to get my item with standard shipment which was great but unfortunately, they shipped me the 2GB model instead of the 8GB.

The phone package is supposed to seal with 2 labels printed with warning Do Not Accept if Seal is broken and sure enough both seals are broken. I called the Seller right away without even look into the box and the customer service rep told me they had to open the box to unlock the phone. He guide me thru how to exam the item is not used like if everything is there and if the ties looked they've been untied and everything looks good to me. The battery was not packed in a plastic bag and he said they needed the battery to unlock the phone (make sense I guess).

Finally, I spotted on the box stating it's 2gb model and the customer service rep kind of knew right away and went and check inventory but no luck. He then spoken with the manager and offered me $20 credit but I declined as I want a 8gb internal memory model. They have sent me a return shipping label thru email and promised I'll get my full refund including original shipping charge. I hope they will keep their words as reading their return policy, it worries me about the restocking fee and all. I can't imagine it can be legal charging shipping or restocking fee when they sent wrong item. I'll update this review when everything is settled.

I cannot find any 8gb model (new) available anywhere so now have to go with the 16gb model at a much higher price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excelent windows mobile phone, July 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Samsung I8000 Omnia II Unlocked Phone with 8 GB Memory 5 MP Camera, Windows Mobile, GPS, Wi-Fi--International Version No Warranty (Rose Black) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I've had my omnia 2 for a week. It looks and behaves very well.
I've had smartphones from palm (treo 650), nokia(5800), hp (ipaq 910, sony ericcsson xperia x1 and before that, I had allways used PDAs with windows pocket pc.
The omnia 2 is the best one I've ever had. The touch screen works very well, multimedia files go without problem and the most important to me. PIM (agenda, contacts, tasks) have the easy and powerfull management that WM users are used to.
Setting up the internet was a little tricky, but that's because this unlocked international version phone was configured for singapur operators. A little google and then I found the answers. By the way, if you need to change your default country, you better do it before installing anything, or you'll loose your info.
Blutooth works great. It self configured to work with my motorola stereo headphones and the handsfree.

Cons. Little included documentation about seting up for a specified country and language. A little slippery to grip. Little accesories available.
Pros. Touch Screen size and response, applications installed, windows mobile 6.5 functions, fits in my shirt pocket, general behavor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great smartphone!, June 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Samsung I8000 Omnia II Unlocked Phone with 8 GB Memory 5 MP Camera, Windows Mobile, GPS, Wi-Fi--International Version No Warranty (Rose Black) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I'm a heavy business and personal smartphone user: mainly for emails and watch TV shows and movies on the phone. And this phone absolutely rocks in both areas.
* Video: Is the best device regarding video capabilities that I've ever had (HTC Dash, HTC Touch, HTC Diamond, HTC Touch Pro, and now Omnia).
Coming from the Touch Pro, I kinda miss the physical keyboard, but typing especially in landscape is acceptable (not like and actual keyboard, but is very good). The Samsung media player reproduces with EXCELLENT quality, however, myself being used to the advanced features in TCPMP, could be seen as a downgrade. Anyhow, I'd rather use the S. Media Player to gain with the tremendous video quality.
* Screen: And if we talk about quality, the screen in this phone is astonishing.
* Interface: Also like very much how Samsung redesigned the WinMo to be much touch-friendly. I've used the original Samsung today with the Widgets for a week or so. The interface is pretty good, but the available widgets are sometimes, or too big, or too rudimentary, so now I'm testing the SPB Mobile Shell (kinda reminds me the HTC Touch Flo most of the time) and I'm comfortable with it.
* Camera: as other reviewers pointed out, takes a second or 2 to load it. And let's face it, we're not buying a Canon EOS. But being a phone camera, with 5mp, is a great camera. The best feature is the panorama capability, works great and does the image stitching pretty fast and accurately. Amazed with this feature.
* TouchScreen: absolutely rocks! I know, is not the Iphone touch, but is the closest you can find. Very responsive.

* Overall: a great product, totally worth the money spent. Highly recommended!
