4.0 out of 5 stars A good vcr overall
I bought this vcr to replace a phillips one that cost twice as much and lasted 6 months. I love this Samsung VCR. As soon as you plug it in it sets itself to the right time. 2.0 out of 5 stars broke in 5 months
I really liked this VCR, especially for the money, but it broke after only 5 months.

I bought this vcr to replace a phillips one that cost twice as much and lasted 6 months. I love this Samsung VCR. As soon as you plug it in it sets itself to the right time. The rewind is incredibly fast (less than one minute to rewind a tape). Timer recording is a breeze to set up. The single best feature is that you can have 3 separate input lines and you can set the VCR to record from which line input you choose. I have my dvd player as one line input, my satellite coming in on another, and the antenna input on the 3rd. I can switch which one I'm watching instantly. The self-tracking system works great and a little graph pops up on the screen to let you know the progress of the tracking adjustment. In fact, there are only 2 minor annoyances that can be overlooked because of the outstanding value you get. 1. The coaxial jacks on the back of the vcr have very little room around them to get you fingers into to attach a cable. You have to use pliers. 2. On most vcr's when you can press fast forward once for medium fast and twice for even faster. The button does not do this on this vcr. If you press it once, it advances medium fast. If you press it twice it fast-forwards 30 seconds and then resumes play. But don't despair, as there is a separate shuttle button that allows you to fast forward or review in 3 different speeds. You just have to get used to using a different button for this. But like I said, I love this VCR and am buying one for my father for Christmas. I would recommend this VCR to everyone. Why spend more than (dollar amount) with all the features this stereo VCR has?

I had this vcr programmed and ready to go in 5 minutes. Had absolutely no problem. I'm even considering buying this for my sister.

Easy to set up. Recording and playback are exceptionally good for a budget-priced machine.

5.0 out of 5 stars almost every function you need is here, July 24, 2001

pros:

1.intuitive time table in which you can set up auto recording up to 10 (or more) items along with date/weekdays/Saturdays/Sundays setting:

channel date start end record_mode

2.internal auto clock

3.quiet and fast rewind

cons: only record at standard(2hour) and SLP(6hour) modes for a 2-hour tape. looks like it is missing SL(4hour) mode

the SLP(6 hour), however, is pretty clear. Maybe it does not need the 4hour mode anyway. It is a great deal for a basic VCR, with all the functions you need.

This is a pretty good VCR at a great price. I saw a demonstration of this unit. The 19 micron heads delivered a good picture in the EP mode.
