This is hands down the best bluetooth headset i've used. If you are within 20 ft or less of your phone the other person may not even know you are using a headset.
It has three different colored lights: Blue for when in use or ready to synch. Red for charging Green for fully charged. Will stay connected up to 60ft away.

The title says it all. I ended up getting another headset for my SLVR because people had a hard time hearing me. The range and battery life on this is positive though..

To be fair, I got this headset for free when I purchased the Samsung ACE from MobileESPN in September 2006. MobileESPN is now getting out of the phone business and I find myself having to get a new phone again, but I digress. Back to the review, I took it out of the box and it looked great. Charged it and the phone for the period listed in the instructions books. Paired them up, which was a breeze, and started using them. It worked great, but then in the middle of a phone call, the conversation dropped from the headset back to the phone. Because it happened a couple more times, I took it back to Best Buy and requested an exchange. They did (kudos to Best Buy for replacing the product, even if I got it for free), and the next one didn't even work. So I went back to Best Buy and requested, nay, demanded a new, different one. Not surprisingly, they wouldn't give me a different one for the same price (I had to try it), but they did give me a new one. The third one works as good as the first one, choppy, unreliable and it drops every second conversation from the headset to the phone. This is particularly annoying and for that reason, it's sitting somewhere at the bottom of some drawer, I don't even remember which one.

I had this headset for about a year until I finally got fed up and bought a Motorola H700. (My cellular phone is a Samsung A900).
The Samsung has some things that are good about it, but the things that were bad outweighed the good so I cannot recommend this headset. Here are the positives: RANGE: The range is really good. I never, and I mean NEVER, had a problem within 15 feet of the phone. No static. This was something that was a huge plus. (When I switched to my Motorola H700, however, I was disappointed with my Motorola's range. The Motorola only has a range of 3 feet -or line of sight- before getting staticy. So the Samsung beats the Motorola in this respect, hands down.) ECHO: There is no echo. No one complained about that. I did notice a slight lag in speaking, so that my caller and I would interrupt each other quite often, but this may be more a function of Bluetooth, and not this headset. SIZE: The form factor is tiny. It is really nice because it is so small. It does not even look like you have a headpiece. DESIGN (LOOK): It is very unobtrusive and classy. It does not draw attention to the headpiece. (My Motorola, however, is a little too obvious sometimes -with the futuristic shiny look). PRICE: The cost of the headpiece is fair, even with its flaws. And now the negatives: VOLUME: I really had a problem hearing calls on this headpiece. The volume never went up high enough. When I was driving the ambient noise of the car was loud enough that I had to continually press the headpiece into my ear to hear the conversation. Not much point to having a "hands free" headset, if it is not truly "hands free". Very disappointed here. DESIGN (FUNCTION): It was a real pain to turn on and off. You have to press and hold the on button for three full seconds before it would turn on or off. This was fine if I was making calls, but it really made receiving calls difficult. I would often be scrambling for the headpiece so that I could answer the call before the caller went to voicemail. This was probably the single most annoying thing about this headpiece. BATTERY LIFE: I never really thought it lasted that long. Standby time is average, and though I never had a call cut off on me, I really got the impression that the battery life was not great. (Plus, the charging of the headset took a lot longer than the Motorola). CONCLUSION: Though this headset had some positives, I would NOT recommend buying it if you are in the market for one: I would recommend the Motorola H700 instead. But, if you already have the Samsung, and you do not find that you have any problem hearing the caller, then I would say that it might be worth keeping. It is fine for making calls, just a pain when trying to receive them if the headset is off.

After one week, the fragile earhook fell off and Samsung offers no replacement. Samsung's advice was to buy a new headset!

I got it at pretty good price, and it paired with my Samsung T809 good, and works quite good. Voice quality is goot after changing the channel with much statics... Yet there is a catch. The other side of the line hears echo (of their won voice). I testes extentively what could be the cause, but failed. I even blocked the microphone of the bluetooth since the earphone itself is not a snug fit to the ear, and may be the sound from the earphone may be leaking to the microphone, but nothing worked. The other side still hears the echo. It's a real pity... 'cause it looks so good, and matches prefectly with my phone, but can't be selfish to keep using it when whoever I talk to complains every time about the echo.

I thought I'd try the WEP150 since the Motorola 850 I had was choppy when the phone was more than 10 inches from the headset. This one does the same thing though. I wear my Samsung A920 phone on my left hip and the headset on my right ear. I'm not fat, but the short distance it must go, though my body, between the phone and the headset just seem to be too much, and I get choppy reception on my end. People I'm talking to have not complained. The headset is OK when within line of set, from my hip to the headset, but it gets choppy if I move my arm in the way. I'm thinking it may not have enough power, but I really expected it to have sufficient power.
Perhaps it is the phone's fault, since both the Mot and the 150 do the same thing, but I have no way to test that at this time. I bought the headset locally, at Best Buy, just so I would be able to return it if I didn't like the performance. Glad I did, even though it cost more. |
