Awkard, but functional,

This review is from: Samsung WEP700 Bluetooth Wireless Headset (Colors Based on Availability. May come in Black or Silver) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
The Samsung WEP700 Bluetooth Headset is everything that the manufacturer claims in it's advertising, however, the "buttonology" can be a bit awkward to get used to. Pushing the Call button will automatically dial the last person called, while holding the same button down for 2-3 seconds then releasing it will allow you to use voice commands, and the same button held down for just a little longer will shut the unit off. This may cause issues if you keep calling the same number or can't figure out why the voice command feature isn't coming up because you weren't paying attention to the length of time you pressed the call button. If patience (or timing) is not one of your virtues I would look for something that automatically triggers the voice command feature rather than last number called and has a separate on/off switch.

I can hear just fine. People can understand me with the headset on, but they often ask if I'm calling from a bathroom or from inside a barrel. They can can hear me when I'm outside, even in the wind. I'm not sure what the claimed battery life is, but I wish it lasted a little longer. Easy to use.

My first bluetooth headset,
This review is from: Samsung WEP700 Bluetooth Wireless Headset (Colors Based on Availability. May come in Black or Silver) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Since this is my first bluetooth headset, I do not have anything to compare it to except a Logitech headset that has a wire. I chose this one because it was the only one I could be sure would match my phone, Samsung M520. The headset is very lightweight, I hear others very well as long as there are minimal noises around me. No real complaints from my callers about the headset except an occasional comment that the caller hears themselves (echo) when i use it. I am wondering if they are hearing background noise and not their own voice (tv in background?). There also seems to be a slight lag time in the volume controls, so if you push repeatedly it takes a second or two to catch up to the adjustment. The headset is still relatively new for me so I probably don't use it to its full potential, but it is great for what I bought it for... i am able to drive hands free to and from work, also i can work in the kitchen and make calls. Downside for me is that as long as the bluetooth is on and near my phone, the only ring that can be heard is in the headset, so i have occasionally missed calls. My fix to that is turning the headset off when i don't need it.

I have been enjoying the headset. The only caution is beware if it is hitting something in your purse it tends to dial the last number you called without you knowing. Also, the earpad is too big for the ear so it hurts a little to leave it in your ear. I read somewhere you can replace that with something smaller but just hadn't looked yet. The sound is good.

This is the 2nd bt headset that I have. The first one was Motorola H700 which worked well until it dies on me a few weeks ago.
I've searched for a new bt headset and had considered Blueant's but didn't want to spent much for something that would go busted in a year or so, so I decided to go with WEP700, $17 after $20 rebate, you can't beat that. Pros: light (lighter than my previous Moto H700), fit confortly, nice gloss black finish, paring with samsung A737 was a no brainer, and sound quality is 8/10. Cons: not compatible with usb charger, can't charge the device with anything else but the charger that came with the unit. Amazon Prime is great, I received my unit in 2 days. Also, I wasn't sure if the unit is black for metalic silver since the picture on Amazon's site is metalic silver. The unit I received is black which I like.

I have been buying Samsung ever since I lived in Korea in 1996, and have always been IMPRESSED with the quality, ease of use, functionality and durability of their products. I'm sad to say, the WEP 700 is the exception to this rule. It all falls to ONE FLAW that could only have been intentionally designed into this product.
Some fool in their interface design department thought the default action for "tapping" the button should be "call last number" instead of "activate voice command". So you have to HOLD the button for a second or two until you hear a beep, and then you can release it to activate voice command. This is a problem for me, since I find the pressure required to hold the button causes pain to my outer ear! This is all beside the fact that one of the voice commands on almost every device is "call last number". So the default command (call last number) is not only redundant, it forces me to cause pain to myself in order to use the other commands which I do almost every single time (98% of the time)! Shame on you, Samsung, for intentionally designing a bad product, and then pricing it so low we can't resist to 'try it out' out of sheer brand loyalty. You have just dented my brand loyalty for you :(

Satisfactory device overall. Can sometimes drop out and have static and callers sometimes do not hear me well, but it's pretty good all-in-all.

I bought this while samsung was offering a rebate, so I couldn't pass it. Got it and it works great... Has good battery life, reception and fits well. The noise canceling is not the greatest but not horrible either...
