Excellent Little MP3 Player,
This review is from: Samsung YP-U3JQL 2GB USB Digital Audio player with FM Radio (Blue) (Electronics)
Ok, keep in mind that this review is coming off of a person who previous owned a Sansa M240 (a piece of junk!!!) but ...
This little item is excellent. I stores a lot of songs and from the first view one can see that it is much better built. It's got a FM radio built into it, which is nice, and can handle a variety of music formats. The unit is better designed so that buttons don't physically need to be pressed - all you do it swipe your hand over the button to activate it. The is nice because with a small unit like this I'm thinking the physical energy to push the button is stress the unit to eventually break. And it is incredibly light - about the size of a small pack of Wrigley's gum. The only drawbacks that I see to it are: 1) It recharges through the USB port, so you'll need to have a computer nearby to recharge it. As someone mentioned in another review, that might be a pain for using on a vacation unless you own a laptop. However, to counter this, the unit does have a 15 hour charge, so you'll have to be listening to music a fair amount of time until it loses charge. 2) It would have been nice if it came with a lanyard. However, both of the concerns I noted are miniscule, and I would still recommend this MP3 player. I got the black version of this unit, but the blue unit doesn't look that bad as well.

The Samsung YP-U3LQL is a pretty decent MP3 player. Its durable, had great sound, but....it has a couple main drawbacks that make really kill it, and those drawbacks could have been easily fixed by just making it a bit bigger. First off, if you are going to use this for working out. Dont Bother! Unless you just turn on the player, and dont plan on touching it at all when you are working out. The touchpad is so small, that if you are moving, you will hit the wrong button, and usually it dumps you to the main menu. Now, this would be OK, but sometimes you just want to adjust the volume (you know if you have a mix that sometimes volume changes, and you need to adjust) you need to fumble through the menu and hit the button at least four times to go back to now playing. That is the only way you can adjust the volume. A seperate volume control would have been nice. I cant tell you how many times I had to slow down on the treadmill to futz with the thing to get it back to "now playing" The same thing happens when you want to skip over a song, it goes to the menu and you have to fumble around with the thing. Believe me, no matter how steady you hand is, since you are moving when working out, the touch pad is just awful. Another horrid feature is how complicated it is to adjust the EQ. It wont allow you to listen to your adjustments as you are making them. You have to guess, then save, then see if you like how you adjusted it. Then once again, you better be dead on to hit the button to save, or all your adjustments are lost. The third and worse feature it sometimes this player freezes for a minute, or runs very slow when trying to go through songs. Not good when you are working out, and then everything jams up, and you are forced to once again slow down. Hey, the sound is good here, its a durable, but I rather pay 20 or 25 dollars less to get the Sansa clip. (which I did) It has all the same features minus two. No 3D effect EQ, and its only 1G, but if you are only using this for on the go or workouts, 1G is plenty. I mean this isnt meant to be used for major storage of your music. It can only be charged by USB, had no AUX input, so its not like you are going to be plugging it into your car or home stereo

The iPod Shuffle, but thinner.,

Loved it's design and color. There have been some problems putting it in the USB and trying to get it recognized. Just try it 2x or so to get it going. Great storage amount; Sounds great. You also have a 1-year Warranty offer on it if anything goes bad. If it breaks, just send it back in for free (Pay for shipping) and there you go.

All I needed in an MP3 player. Have dropped it a million times on treadmills, ellipticals, and the like and it still works like a charm.

It holds plenty of music, and plays for a long time. Unlike ipods that give you 3days of music and play for 6hours. this plays for about 48hours

This is my 3rd. Yepp and have to say that the previous models where quite better. This one doesn't have buttons for volume, forward, etc... instead of it is sensible to touch, but EXTREMELY SENSIBLE, which is very inconvenient.
When you store the music through the USB port in your computer, you can't create files (as playlists) the device separate them in Artists, Songs, Albums, etc, but never in the files you previously programed. Besides this, after 1 week of having it, is giving me problems since it turns off saying there was a system problem.

I wanted a media player that had the capability of getting FM radio. This is just what I wanted. It has a long lasting battery and is easy to charge. It also has the ability to play downloaded music which makes it multifunctional. If you are looking for an item like an iPod, this is not your device.

I had this product for 6 months. After keeping it in my purse for 2 days, the touch controls stopped responding to any input. When you turn it on the volume goes up to max, and you can't turn it down, or even turn the device off. This product had great reviews in PCMag, but I was disappointed in its durability. I will get an Mp3 player with real buttons next time.

This Samsung YP-U3JQL never would start out of the box. Plugged it in the computer and it would show charging at first and transferring files. But when tried to start, nothing. Called Samsung and they had me try a few things unsuccessfully and then said I would have to pay to ship it in for repairs which was probably a defective battery. Guess this is my last buy of a Samsung product.

good enough for this price,

Overally, this mp3 player is good for this price. It's easy to use. The only problem is the battery. It's supposed to last 14 hours but only 7 hours instead which this problem probably is happening only with my mp3 play.
