Product Description

Style: Sony Alpha

The new Samyang 35mm F/1.4 Aspherical UMC Wide Angle Lens is the most recent addition to Samyang's professional line of lenses, and it's a beauty!  It is superbly constructed with spectacular sharpness and high contrast.  The Samyang 35mm F/1.4 is the least expensive 35mm F1.4 lens in the market! The lens is an optically sophisticated lens designed for full frame cameras, and it can also be used on APS-C and Four/Thirds cameras.   The lens is beautifully constructed with multiple lens elements made of quality glass with a high refraction factor.  This enables Samyang to keep the weight low and the dimensions small.  The lens is also constructed with one aspherical lens that prevents horizontal chromatic aberration. Samyang has also added a focusing scale to this lens which will help the user focus more accurately.  The lens is available in the following mounts:  Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax & Olympus 4/3.  The Nikon version features a built-in focus confirm chip for auto aperture and auto exposure. This new Samyang lens is an excellent addition to any amateur or professional photographer who is looking for stunning clarity and high contrasts.  It is also the perfect lens for high definition video recording.  The 35mm lens follows in the footsteps of the Samyang 8mm Fisheye, 14mm Wide Angle, and 85m F/1.4 lenses.

What can I say.... this is one of the sharpest, best low light lenses I've had the pleasure of owning. My entire lens bag includes nothing but Canon lenses, I love the cinematic look they give. That being said, this lens works better in low light than any of the Canon's by far. The build quality is insane, and the focussing ring is ultra wide and smooth. I use this with my 5D Mark II & III.

In my back pack i've got just fixed focals but this one so far is awesome the contrast, sharpness, bokeh is incredible too mucho colorfull than the 50 mm 1,4 perhaps the 85mm 1,8 gets closer. the 14 mm 2.8 also from the same brand under the opteka name makes a great job but this one become my favorite

Samyang 35mm f/1.4

Having used Samyang lenses before (the Samyang 24mm f/1.4 and the Samyang 85mm f/1.4), I knew that the 35mm f/1.4 version would not disappoint. But while testing the expensive 35mm f/1.4 lenses, I still thought that it would show worse performance than all of its competitors. I was rather surprised to see the lens outperform the exotic Zeiss Distagon T* 35mm f/1.4 lens in my lab and perform so close to the Nikon 35mm f/1.4G. In fact, I had to re-test the Zeiss and the Nikon lenses over 5 times to make sure that I was not miscalculating anything or missing focus. In all cases, the lenses performed about the same, with the Samyang still rocking the game at smaller apertures. This lens surely shows a lot of value when compared to the expensive brands, with its under $500 MSRP price (compare that to the $1850 price of the Zeiss). For those that shoot landscapes and other types of photography where autofocus is not needed, the Samyang 35mm f/1.4 seems to be a superb choice for sure.
Presuming you can nail focus, it's perfectly sharp and contrasty, even at f/1.4! It's astounding.
Bokeh, the character of out-of-focus areas, not simply how far out of focus they are, is very good.
In fact, the only 35mm f/1.4 lens with better bokeh is the $1,650 Nikon 35/1.4 G.
Every other 35/1.4, even the $5,000 LEICA SUMMILUX, have much, much worse bokeh.
The Samyang Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 has much better background bokeh at f/1.4 than theNikon 35mm f/1.4, than the new $5,000 LEICA SUMILUX-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH mit floating element group, than the previous $4,500 LEICA SUMMILUX-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, and much better bokeh than LEICA's original SUMMILUX 35mm f/1.4 from 1960-1995.
Except for the Nikon 35/1.4 G, this Samyang has the best bokeh I've seen in any 35mm f/1.4 lens.
