OK, this is it! My kind of Sons of the Pioneers! This stuff was originally recorded in the early to mid-1960's, the Golden Age of Sons of the Pioneers recordings in my opinion. It's a true studio recording--the best musicians (such as Glen Campbell on guitar on some selections),the best technical support, and one fine vocal trio--consisting mainly of the great Lloyd Perryman, Tommy Doss and Dale Warren. This album contains super smooth orchestrations, great arrangements (thanks to arrangers like Darol Rice and Billy Liebert). Don't expect any of the rough, primitive "cow manure on your boots" type western music here. This was produced by RCA Victor's Hollywood studio in the '60's, a time when country was about to go pop--and when even cowboys were expected to be smooth singin' dudes! Though some of the songs do have a western flavor ("San Antonio Rose"), these are mostly classic easy listening tunes ("Green Fields") good for throwing a log on the fire and relaxing to. You'll hear some of the finest vocal blends that the Sons of the Pioneers ever put on vinyl. And this collection contains some of the best songs (not just westerns) that America's original great western singers ever chose to perform. If you like (1) The Sons of the Pioneers, (2) music with a western flavor, (3) classic country, or (4) relaxing vocal harmony, I think you'll like this one! Remember, too, that this type of music is getting more scarce with every passing day. That's sure to make it worthwhile for collectors.

This is definitely one of my best CD's. The songs are beautiful and well recorded. I never get tired listening to the songs and this CD will always be my favorite.
