What a great ride, August 10, 2001
This review is from: San Francisco 49ers: G.H. 1 (Audio CD)
If you're a loyal 49ers fan, you're gonna love this one. The audio clips of the greatest games and moments in Niner history are absolutely amazing. And the songs accompanying such greatness pitch in really well. Right off the bat, Pat Summerall gets you going with the intro. Then, among the clips, you've got all the great stuff..."The Catch", "The Drive", and some of the greatest performances ever...Jerry Rice, proving he's the greatest NFL player of all time, with Joe Montana, Steve Young, and a nice dose of Ricky Watters. To sit back and listen to highlights of Super Bowls XXIV (55-10) and XXIX (49-26)...makes you feel as if you're there. All the montages and highlights are put together very well.
The songs are a nice mix of pumped-up sports anthems and good-listening rock classics. Most of it is 80s material, but that ain't half bad. The songs fit in, for as we know, the Niners were the team of the 80s and rocked California-style.
A great album to commemorate a great team. Listen to Brent Musberger call Montana's drive against the Bengals and just try to tell me you're not electrified. Or how about that NFC Championship Game against Dallas in 1995? It just never gets old. The Niners are on their way to getting back up there real soon. Can't say that about those Cowboys...ha! Listening to San Fran's historic glory gets you psyched for future success...playoffs and more in '01. GO NINERS!
