Product Description

San Francisco Bay Coffee French Roast

We take a blend of fine 100% Arabica coffees from Central and South America, and roast it dark, until the flavor oils rise to surface of the bean. A coffee with an intense, bold, and smoky flavor. ..not for the faint of heart!

Do you take your coffee black...or green?

K-cup brewing systems – so convenient, but so wasteful. All that plastic going into a landfill – over 10 billion cups a year – enough to circle the earth thirteen times. We decided that we had to be more environmentally responsible. So, to begin with, we developed a pod that used 35% less plastic. Then, we began developing biodegradable components. We have been working for years on this – and are 97% there. Currently the OneCup packaging and the coffee are all 100% biodegradable. The lid and the mesh filter, are the only components not biodegradable – and we are working on that! All combined, the OneCup is 97% biodegradable. Now you can enjoy single serve coffees with a better conscience.

A truly superior coffee

Great coffee has to start with great coffee beans. Now, everyone says this, but it is really true with us. We source only the very best quality Arabica coffee beans, grown high in the mountains and hand-picked for perfect ripeness. We are very, very picky (pardon the pun) – we have the most demanding standards in the business. When we have found the best beans, we then we roast them to perfection – to their fullest flavor point – using our proprietary and top-secret roasting system. Then, we grind them for optimum flavor, just before packaging into our revolutionary OneCup single serve pods. And finally, our stringent Quality Assurance procedures ensure that the coffee you receive is as consistent as it is excellent. One of our criteria for the OneCup was simple - that it had to taste better than the other single-serve pods out there. Our OneCup filter is designed specially to ensure you will experience the maximum flavor extraction from each cup you brew.

What about the coffee farmers?

To many coffee roasters, green bean procurement means a phone call to a broker in New York. But by going straight to source, we are able find better coffee – while at the same time, changing lives for the better. You see, coffee farming is like betting your life savings on something, without knowing the odds, the outcome, or the payback. If there is a glut, prices will crash, and you could be out of business. There could be a storm at the wrong moment, which knocks all of the flowers off of the trees or buries the farm in mud. Or a fungus could wipe out your trees – and your livelihood – for years to come. Our farmers are like family to us, and we want them to do well. We guarantee our farmers a profit – and a comfortable life. We also help them with improved farming methods, environmentally responsible practices, crop yield increases, and producing better coffee. But suppose we had a great idea for a farmer to try – and it didn’t work out, and hurt his crop? Not good. So, we try our ideas out on our own farms. We have over 3,000 acres from where we try to develop better tasting coffee. We also try other ideas which can lead to increased yields, more natural production methods, and more consistent, higher quality milling and processing methods.

Grown for good

Your purchase is touching the lives of, literally, hundreds of thousands of people in the farming communities around the world. Our Grown for good Programs have built thousands of housing units, and dozens of schools, kitchens, medical / dental facilities, water treatment plants, etc. We have educational programs, hot meal programs, sports and recreational programs, adult education programs, nutrition programs, environmental responsibility programs. And because of all these improvements in education, housing, health, and sanitary conditions, every person, at every farm we work with, enjoys an improved quality of life.

Who is behind it all?

Founded more than 34 years ago, the Rogers Family Company is comprised of Jon and Barbara Rogers, their three sons, their daughter, and two daughters-in-law, along with over 250 employees. Many of our employees have been with us for 10, 20, even 30 years and more, and some even have sons and daughters here now! Our approach to farming, milling, roasting, packaging and selling coffee is different than any other company. Our goals are simple: Produce the best coffee possible. Offer it at a reasonable price. Improve the lives of all of those around us. And be respective of our environment. To us, our employees, our farmers, and our customers are all family. And we treat them as such.

As for the coffee itself, it is a good strong, bold flavor.
De Plume
Good, strong, and with 80 in a box it's nice to not end up paying 60 or 70 cents per cup buying at the local store.
amy
I especially like the fact the coffee pods are sealed in plastic bags to keep them fresh.

I did not buy this at Amazon even though I am an avid amazon shopper. Needless to say I went to cosco with a friend and got this exact box for $25 at Cosco. I debated getting it and once it was in my cart I had two different people tell me how much they loved the coffee and with 80 pods at that price I figured I would try it. I came home at 8 pm and decided to open it up.

IN THE BOX: Inside I have 10 clear plastic bags each with 8 pods. The bottom has no plastic white thing I am used to and not only is the coffee in a mesh bag making it so you can not store it in the carousel nor you would not want to because it would lose freshness. SO the other 7 went in Tupperware. I give it 2 points for helping the environment and 4 for the price without trying it!

TASTE: Brew it at 8pm (not the best time for coffee but ahhh) It smells absolutely amazing! Super strong odor if you like the smell of coffee. Color is very dark, smell is strong. I taste it black and it is stronger then even the jet fuel k-cups. Add some creamer try it again and then add a little more and it is the best coffee I have had in my life and that says a lot as Paris had some amazing coffee!

Needless to say I grabbed the phone and called my friend who also bought a box after the two people commented on how much they loved the coffee to find out she had tried it and loves it as much as I do! If you are debating trying this like I was I am hoping this review will help as I think I have finally kicked my expensive k-cup habit and I no longer need to worry about losing a bang for my buck! Hopefully amazon will start matching Cosco prices as I do not have a cosco card though :)

These are a wonderful alternative to expensive K-Cups. After opening up the sealed bags, I kept mine in a ziplock bag until use. The 80 count French Roast is significantly cheaper at Costco.

Best coffee for Keurig but the price hiked up recently--why is that? It averaged .37 a cup previously. It's really good coffee and I love the packaging. But I think I'll be buying coffee from Costco if the price stays this high.

I have tried all the San Francisco Bay K-cups and like them all but if I had to pick a favorite it would be the French Roast. We used to brew a pot of coffee each morning and sometime most of it got used and sometimes it didn't. I don't like the tasted of stewed coffee so I love the convenience of K-cups, the fresh taste and I find the San Francisco Bay brand quite economical.

I was so happy to find this deal on this rich, robust French Roast for my Keurig coffee maker. It smells wonderful when you open the packages-one thing I have really missed with a one-cup system. I will definitely keep buying this product.

These pods work great. I usually drink emerals, double black diamond, and recently newmans. All of these are extra bold and dark. I brew 10oz. I was concerned about weak coffee body and flavor. These cups are definitely worth trying. You won't be disappointed. The 10oz came out great!

I thought this coffee was really good and I ordered it from Amazon because Costco didn't have the French Roast. But after telling several people about how much more reasonably priced it was than other good coffees, the price went up by eight dollars per box. Needless to say, I've ordered my last San Francisco Bay Coffee and they have lost other customers.

Let me start by saying that San Francisco Bay coffee is excellent. And I especially like the fact that the packaging is biodegradable. I tend to compare all coffee Starbucks, but that’s just my personal preference. And maybe that’s only because my son works at Starbucks and I’ve been flush with Starbucks coffee for five years now. But they really do make a great coffee no matter what your preference of type. Having said that, I do like to try other brands of coffees. I am using the San Francisco Bay coffee pods in an adapter that allows me to place them in my new Vue machine. This French Roast by SFB is delicious. Not to mention the price is hysterically low at about thirty-five cents per serving. It is as good, or better than the Starbucks French roast I have been using. It is a strong coffee, but very smooth with rich undertones of a light fruitiness. I am completely sold on this stuff, so much so that I just purchased a big pack of the decaf version. I like the decaf after 5 PM. By the way, they pack these pods in sealed 10 packs. So if you're not a fast coffee drinker, that is to say the coffee is going to be sitting around for a while, you might want to consider putting the unused pods into a Ziploc bag or some other sealed storage medium so as to keep them fresh (the only thing between the coffee and the air is a thin permeable mesh filter!). But that is a small price to pay for the peace of mind that I am not filling landfills with useless, non-biodegradable, non-recyclable plastic! Highly recommended. Five stars all the way!
