This review is from: San Francisco Jazz 1930-1932: The Flexo Recordings (Audio CD)
Jack Coakley's orchestra played at Tait's in San Francisco during the early 1930's, earning it a reputation as one of the Bay Area's most distinctive. Even today, the band has a certain unique quality when compared to other musicians of the era. Two excellent tracks on this disc, "My Future Just Passed" and "Come Easy Go Easy Love" showcase the best of San Francisco dance orchestra music from this period, and recreate a sense of the City during the 20's and 30's.

Flexo was a record label produced locally by Pacific Coast Record Corp., Ltd., and recorded not only Coakley's orchestra but also those of Fay Elliott and Lew Reynolds. Both other bands appear on this disk.

All in all, a most welcome and listenable addition to any collection of 20's and 30's music.

Great rare San Francisco dance bands from 1930. I've only seen one flexo in my life

and Harlequin has captured the sound as excellent as all Harlequin CDs are.
