The second volume in a series detailing passenger departing from San Francisco during the Gold Rush era. These lists have been abstracted from the pages of the newspaper 'Alta California'. The lists provide the name and last name of the passenger, ship name, date of departure and destination. The passenger lists are first presented chronologically by date of departure, then in the second part indexed by surname. The notes and sources sections provide additional information.

Magnificent series of books,

This volume and all others in this series make available invaluable information which has remained hidden for over a century. Since the Great Earthquake and Fire of San Francisco in 1906 most U.S. Customs passenger arrival records have been unavailable since they were destroyed. However, this abstraction of records for passengers departing San Francisco during the first part of the 1850s allows the researcher a glimpse into a lost world. This book series stands right up there with that of Louis J. Rasmussen who many years before wrote a similar series about inbound passengers.
