Book Description

November 1, 2000
There's nothing like truth-shattering myth or true stories more fascinating than fiction. This book offers both exceptionally well, with passionate prose and careful documentation. It's about the Tenderloin, a small area in San Francisco with a controversial 100-year legacy.

The book begins by tracing the Tenderloin's past and debunking its notorious reputation. This provides the historical backdrop for incredible stories of extraordinary Tenderloin people and their compassionate alliance with a conservative psychologist, the author, who developed an unorthodox clinical practice to better serve them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reality Writing at its Best, November 4, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: San Francisco Tenderloin - Heroes, Demons, Angels and Other True Stories (Paperback)
Larry Wonderling writes a moving story about the very real people who live in San Francisco's sometimes infamous "Tenderloin." This should be a television series!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Most Memorable book, one you'll never forget., April 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: San Francisco Tenderloin - Heroes, Demons, Angels and Other True Stories (Paperback)
Reading this book was an intensely human experience that I'll
never forget...all of the stories were deeply human, stranger than fiction and moved me to tears and laughter.
I couldn't set the book aside until finished.
