Solid Compilation of San Francisco Artists,
This review is from: San Francisco Under a Groove, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
I bought this album on a whim, and was very pleasantly surprised. It starts off pretty chill, with great melodies, sultry vocals, and a good deal of diversity from the widening electronica genre.
I've listened to the album in my car on the way to work, and just hanging out with friends over a couple of drinks at home. It's a good mix, and makes for a great addition to my music collection.

Gift to Self,

I originally purchased this album as a birthday gift for a friend. Well, that friend ended up with some scented candles. I just had to keep this little gem for myself. The first time I slipped SF Under a Groove into my stereo, I was mesmerized.
I love the deep-house and jazz undertones running through each song. And my very favorite (I hit repeat and listen to it about a million times a day,) is Spontaneous Love by Maximillian. It's the Rev. Cecil Williams put to a powerful mix of echoes and rhythmic sounds. This album is the best gift I've ever didn't give to someone else.

Fans of electronica, jazz, deep house, and just plain good music will love this one. I also bought the special edition on itunes because it has some extra tracks not included here.
Anyway, definitely worth the purchase... Jeff

Sexy San Francisco Style,

I love this CD! I found this at the Virgin store on Union Square in San Francisco. I was immediately drawn in and felt great that I made this purchase. Although I knew nothing of this CD, I must say that one of the sexiest songs and sexiest songs is Day by Day, track 2 on this CD. I am in love with it! Irina has a lovely voice that makes me think of sex with my divine lover...okay let me stop by saying BUY THE CD, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

Who knew Delta Airlines could be so hip?,

Strangely enough, I "discovered" this CD while on a Delta Airlines flight. I was scrolling through the plane's music selection and stumbled upon this. Fell in love with it right away. Great beats, and just really nice ambient sounds. Made for a very pleasant flight (even if one is stuck in a middle seat!) I bought it as soon as I landed.

Better than Paris Under a Groove,

I love this album and have been listening to it for a couple years now. I picked up Paris Under A Groove hoping it would be as good as "San Francisco" and I was a bit disappointed. I had to write this review after seening the reviewer who said that Paris was better. To each his own, but I'd say that "San Francisco" is a bit more funky and captures that San Francisco underground feel. Maybe "Paris" captures the Paris club scene, but I've been to that scene and I'd rather be clubbin' at home in San Fran.

i too heard this album on Delta airlines. Random huh? I was on my way home from a Long trip in the South. & i mean the DEEP SOUTH where confederate flags still fly. So in the final stretch of the plane ride back to the Bay Area, i was bumpin' "Spontaneous Love" as we coasted over the SF lights. A Perfect vibe & welcome home to some good, chill house music. Delta Airlines, u Rock! ....obviously i was feelin this album.

I bought this based upon reviews but wouldn't rave about it. It's nice but I don't want to listen to it over and over.

Not as Good as Paris!,

The first 'under the groove' (Paris) was a considerably tighter and consistent collection; the first half of the San Francisco selections were better than the second.

im not someone who hosts cocktail parties, but I am beginning to love the Lounge/House/downtempo genre. Listening to this, I imagine myself in a lounge bar, the lights dimly lit with martinis everywhere. You dont have to have cocktail parties to enjoy this kind of music. I slip this disc in when I get home from a long day at work. it seriously helps me relax!
