I installed this in or condo's common bathroom because we've always had a problem with TP theft. No lock and key here. There's a trick to unlocking the roll. So far, those who would take a cheep roll of TP haven't been able to figure out how to take the rolls off the dispenser. They have, however, broken the dispenser off the wall so I installed hardwood over the drywall and anchored the dispenser to it. This dispenser is really solid. It should last for years.
