Fast Performance for Multitasking and More

Enhance and extend the life of your computer and enjoy fast, reliable performance with the SanDisk Solid State Drive. This SSD features a storage capacity of 128 GB (1) and delivers sequential read speeds of up to 475 megabytes per second (MB/s) and sequential write speeds of up to 375 MB/s (2). This allows you to multitask and transfer large files with ease, as well boot up your laptop or desktop computer more quickly than you can with a typical hard drive.

Designed to Keep Your Data Safe

Housed in a durable stainless steel case, and featuring a reliable solid state design, the SanDisk Solid State Drive has been engineered to resist shocks, vibrations, and extreme temperatures, preserve the integrity of your data, and prevent data loss. In addition, because SSDs typically use less power than hard disk drives, they put less strain on your computer system.

Quiet, Stable Operation and Low Power Consumption

Unlike traditional hard disk drives in computers, solid disk drives contain no moving parts, making them cooler and quieter and less likely to break. SSDs are also more energy-efficient than standard HDDs for longer laptop battery life.

SanDisk SSDs are engineered to deliver sustained high performance over time.
Sustained High Performance

Rather than focus on peak speeds, which may be achieved only for a few seconds at a time, SanDisk maximizes real operating speeds and performance consistency over a long period of time. Thanks to a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of 2 million hours (4), the SanDisk Solid State Drive can deliver years of fast, reliable performance, whether you're enjoying multimedia or transferring files at work.

With this SSD, you can multitask and transfer large files with ease.

Faster Write Speeds and Safer Data with nCache Technology

To optimize the user experience, the SanDisk Solid State Drive contains nCache--a large, non-volatile write cache that consolidates small writes to boost random write performance and the long-term data endurance of the drive. This proprietary technology from SanDisk is designed to mediate how modern-day operating systems and flash memory interoperate. The result is faster response times and better multitasking without stuttering.

The SanDisk Solid State Drive is suitable for a laptop or desktop computer.

Reliable Performance with an Extended MTBF

Like other SanDisk drives, the SanDisk Solid State Drive offers a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of 2 million hours based on a parts stress analysis. MTBF is the predicted amount of time the drive will operate without failure and is a measure of reliability.

This SSD monitors and provides updates on its health status.

Monitor the Health of Your SSD in Real Time

Thanks to S. M.A. R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) capabilities, this solid state drive can detect and report on various indicators of reliability and alert you of an impending drive failure while there is still time to take action.

SSDs deliver cool, quiet operation and consume less power than typical HDDs.
The Advantage of SSDs

Why replace your computer's hard disk drive with a solid state drive? SSDs offer a number of advantages over traditional hard drives. Because they contain no moving parts, SanDisk SSDs are less likely to break, and they deliver cooler and quieter operation and consume less power than standard 7,200 RPM hard drives (3). In addition, the SanDisk Solid State Drive is cased in stainless steel and has been rigorously tested to withstand shocks and vibrations. This, along with fast read and write speeds for games and more, makes an SSD a compelling option, and it's easy to remove an HDD and install an SSD without losing any data.

I was a little bit skeptical about the whole SSD thing, but I got a refurbished laptop that is a few years old. It has a 2 GHz Core2Duo and 4 GB of RAM, so it's terribly slow, but every little bit helps. I had heard that SSDs are the way to go, but given their small size and high cost, I didn't want to plunk down the cash a tiny expensive hard drive only to be disappointed. Well, this SSD is affordable and I could not believe how much faster it has made my computer! It used to take about 2:30 to boot and now it boots in just over 30 seconds! Apps open instantly. It feels like a whole computer. Can't wait to see what kind of effect it will have on battery life.

For me, it's a choice of either Sandisk or Samsung for my SSDs, as they're the only companies that make their own NAND flash chips. I choose Sandisk where value is most important and Samsung where performance is more important.

That said, I've built two customer systems now using these SanDisk SSDs and haven't had a problem whatsoever. These are fast, stable drives despite their low price.

As a side note, I tend to initially load systems to a temporary HDD and do all the updates and installations there, and then transfer the image to the SSD. This eliminates the enormous number of writes that occur during an OS installation and initial update.

Update: I've implemented 2 more of these recently without issue in HTPC and DVR applications. That's 4 drives and ZERO failures.

I bought this SSD for mainly one reason, the price. I was building a HTPC for someone and they wanted to keep the price as low as possible. This SSD helps me achieve that goal!

Pros:
Price!
Small/Light
FAST

The only "complaint" I have is that it just feels so... cheap, but it isn't. The build quality was fine but its just all plastic.

It should be emphasized that this is the bare drive, with no imaging software provided or even available free of charge from Sandisk through their website. There is also no SATA to USB cable provided, which is very helpful when trying to copy the contents of an existing disk.

If you are buying this to build a new system or you know you have the tools and experience necessary to make use of a bare drive, this is a great drive with great performance that will not disappoint.

I can't believe how hard it is to find small SSD's these days!
This SanDisk fit the bill perfectly for a custom pfSense router I was building. This drive was small and low power, which was exactly what I was looking for. Very very fast read and write speeds, even on old SATA2 (3.0 gbps). Would buy again for small builds like this one.

NOTE: the ReadyCache 32GB model will also work as a standard SSD if anyone is looking for a smaller drive. It says Windows-only, but that is just for the ReadyCache software. When formatted, that drive will work in ANY system.

for older MOBO sata controlers this is awesome !!!
MB tranfer is good and IOPS are lower than average!!!!
but for older SATA II controller that is unable to squeze more IOPS this is awesome -- it revived a 5 YO laptop from the graves of molases into the world of Speedy Gonzales!

because of the weight i kind of feels cheap but i think it should hold up (heat is no issue and the sandforce controller is not woking hard @ 6000 IOPS

I bought this because my laptop was getting older and I wanted a performance boost. It is great, I can shut down my computer and be fully back and logged in in under 30sec. It puts off less heat than my old mechanical drive too. The only thing is that I have changed my behavior about storage on my computer. I want to limit writes to the SSD so all of my torrents and everything goes directly to an external HDD. I only locally store installed programs. Everything else is on a HDD. It kind of changes your computer from having a primary (ram)/secondary(HDD) memory scheme into a Primary(ram)/secondary(SSD)/tertiary(HDD) memory scheme, which is a bit more complex, but much more efficient.

I spent hours trying to get the BIOS on Dell Inspiron 1545 to recognize the drive. The problem was that the drive seems to be a little off spec and doesn't dock with the SATA connector when properly mounted on the caddy that comes with Inspiron 1545.

It's possible that it may fit better in another laptop, but I had to rig it in order to make it work. It's pretty fast though. I clocked 278Mbps read time in Ubuntu 12.04 Disk Utility benchmark tool.
