4.0 out of 5 stars Note: Choose other SanDisk product for Compact Flash
A visit to SanDisk's web site confirms that the 6-in-1 PC Card adapter is for SD/MMC/SmartMedia/Memory Stick/Memory Stick Pro/xD. It will not work with Compact Flash as mentioned in the short description. SanDisk has two other products available on Amazon for use with Compact Flash cards.

People trying to buy this card adapter should be aware of the following capacity limitations, you may notice that for MMC, SM and MS, the adapter is actually useless,

- SmartMedia (up to 128MB)

- xD-Picture cards (up to 512MB, none M or H)
And the card adapter also has some compatibility problem, it doesnot work with my IBM T42, but OK with my Lenovo T60 and my friend's Toshiba, but this could be a problem of my laptop instead of the adapter itself.

I bought this to use in the NAV system of my 2007 Honda Civic. It works perfectly with 1 and 2G SD cards - I put 1.77G of MP3s on the 2G card and was able to listen to all of them. SD cards fit so that the end of the SD is flush with the end of the PCMCIA card.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Product!, November 25, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: SanDisk 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter ( SDAD-67-A10, Retail Package) (Personal Computers)

At first I thought that this adapter wasn't being recognized by my 3 year old Compaq 2700T laptop when I first inserted it, and then I discovered that it becomes recongized when you insert any one of the 6 media card types into it. When I put a Secure Digital card into it the adapter and the card's 'contents' were immediately recognized. All pictures on the card were successfully downloaded to the hard drive.

I have not tried any of the other media card types yet, but I have no reason to believe that they shouldn't behave just as well as the Secure Digital card.

This was a GREAT choice I made! This gives me one more option for making sure that I am able to download and store my digital pictures. Buy it if you have a notebook PC and need an 'extra' option for downloading 'your' digital pics. Also, I would not get it unless you have 2 or more varieties of media cards.

Be aware that this card adapter does not allow for downloading the Compact Flash variety of media card; for that, there is another adapter product by SanDisk for the Compact Flash variety.

I hope I have helped somebody with this review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Working in Mercedes new E-Class E350 with 16GB SD card, June 28, 2009
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: SanDisk 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter ( SDAD-67-A10, Retail Package) (Personal Computers)
for my fellow new E-class Mercedes owners (mine is E350 with HDD DVD changer - code 512) this card works great for all the functions you want to do with the PC-Card slot in your car .

Works great for transferring data (i.e. Address book vCard) or just simply listening to music off of it (i.e. MP3). Transfer all your music to an SD card of your choice and leave the rest of the cd changer for movies. Trust me, it'll be $$ well spent...

p.s. I am posting this to confirm that it works with SD cards bigger than 1 GB (mine is 16 GB SDHC) ... opposite to what others are sayin (earlier post by Xin Dou (IA, US) )

3.0 out of 5 stars No compatible with cards over 512mb, June 20, 2005
This review is from: SanDisk 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter ( SDAD-67-A10, Retail Package) (Personal Computers)
I owned one of these for compact flash worked great.

Bought this one for my new digital camera and found out that it doesn't support anything above 512mb. Too bad it wasn't listed on the item at amazon.com.

Tech support from Sandisk is the one who informed me of the limitation after struggling to get the PC Card to work correctly.

Probably works great for anything 512mb and under.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does not work with 2GB SD card, March 20, 2006

This review is from: SanDisk 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter ( SDAD-67-A10, Retail Package) (Personal Computers)
This adaptor does not work with large SD Card (greater than 1 GB). On my 2GB SD card it work fine when the total used space is below 1GB. When it goes beyond 1GB, I start to encounter error. I tried formatting the 2GB card, it shows as 1GB good and 1GB error.
Finally I bought the SanDisk 12-in-1 USB Reader and it read/write my 2GB card without any problem.

3.0 out of 5 stars slow transfers compared to USB 2.0 readers, February 14, 2006
By
HC (Bay Area, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SanDisk 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter ( SDAD-67-A10, Retail Package) (Personal Computers)
Products used for comparison testing:
- Dell Latitude D410 notebook running Windows XP SP2
- Dell Latitude D610 notebook running Windows XP SP2
- Sandisk 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter
- Sandisk ImageMate 12-in-1 USB 2.0 Reader/Writer
- Sandisk Ultra II 2GB SD card

Installation:
The 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter was easily recognized by both notebooks and did not require any additional drivers or software. One difference between this and the ImageMate is that the ImageMate will be detected by the operating system and it will assign 4 drive letters automatically regardless of whether or not any media is inserted. The PC Card Adapter will not be detected unless I insert the SD card into the memory slot. When the SD card is removed, the assigned drive letter disappears from Windows Explorer.

Compatibility with memory tested:
I only tested this with a standard Sandisk 256MB SD card and a Sandisk Ultra II 2GB SD card: both cards worked fine. The PC Card adapter had no problems reading or writing to the 2GB card, despite the large capacity.

Transfer rates:
I tested transfer rates with my 2GB SD card and a 428 MB folder that included 32 files roughly about 14MB each. Copying the folder over using the ImageMate reader via USB 2.0 resulted in a copy time of roughly 50 seconds. Using the PC Card Adapter, the entire process took 8 minutes and 10 seconds. Similar results were found for both Dell notebooks.

Ergonomics:
Inserting an SD card requires a little care because there isn't anything to really guide it along... but that's the only way they can get 6 in 1 to work in a slim PC card. Removing the SD card is also a little difficult unless you have long nails as the card is flush with the edge of the notebook. If you have large fingers, it may be necessary to eject the entire PC card from the notebook in order to remove the memory card from the reader.

Summary:
I was hoping to be able to replace the ImageMate with the 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter for reading/writing to SD cards while on the go, but the slow transfer rates make it very undesirable for me to use when managing digital music or photos stored on my SD card. Also, inserting/removing SD cards from the device requires a bit of caution to prevent any damage to the card or reader itself. For these two reasons, I give the card only 3 stars. However, it is convenient for moving small files and it works even with 2GB SD cards so I plan to keep it as a backup for those times I foget to carry the ImageMate.

If you need to access 2GB SD cards, get a different adapter.
