great hardware,

This review is from: SanDisk Connect 256 MB + WiFi SD Card (Personal Computers)
I had the previous card without the 256 mb memory . This card works very good.
Installation - with no problem and with zero config as promised by the wifi founders. Range - I had it working in 120 ft !! amazing ! One can download file into the memory while the trans/recv is working - something I thought was impossible . the stream works very fast and the pages are downloading as fast as the device can open them . i use hp 1930. Very good work from the sandisk boys

Sandisk has discontinued these cards and are not replacing them under warranty,
This review is from: SanDisk Connect 256 MB + WiFi SD Card (Personal Computers)
I own this card and recently started having problems. When I called Sandisk and they have no stock to replace these cards. I am pretty ticked off at Sandisk. They should be able to replace this card under the three year warranty. They want me to return it and they will replace it with a 1 GB memory card, which is worthless as I really need the wifi portion, not the memory.
Buyer beware. Note added 3/21/06...I have to give credit to Sandisk, after repeatedly calling (for six months) and escalating the problem, I did get a replacement. THANK YOU SANDISK! It was not the way it should have been in warranty position (6 months into a 3 year warranty). It was very much a hassle, but eventually worked out. Should hold me over until I purchase a new PDA with wireless built in. This is an excellent idea of combination unit, hope someone else picks up the idea.

Great.... unless you own a Toshiba.,
This review is from: SanDisk Connect 256 MB + WiFi SD Card (Personal Computers)
If you own a Toshiba, do not buy this. Toshiba's SDIO slot is propriatary and will NOT work with the SanDisk WiFi cards. Toshiba has told me on the phone that the Socket card will work (however socket does not make a card with the memory.
That being said... Instalation was easy, and when I had a problem, SanDisk's support was outstanding. I am giving it a 5 becuase of this.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU HAVE A PALM! Though it seems to be Palm's fault for being uncooperative, there are no drivers yet available to make this sandisk product work iin a palm device.

YES IT DOES indeed work with the Navman PiN GPS Pocket PC,
By Cyborg Superman "Jeff" (Brea, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SanDisk Connect 256 MB + WiFi SD Card (Personal Computers)
OK, so I admit ... I'm the type'a guy who gets totally stoked when I look at the latest gadgets & gizmos online or in magazines. And although I'm pretty adept figuring out how to work most doohickeys and thingamajigs, I'm secretly in awe of the techie dudes at my work who know all the jargon, can define all those confusing specs or answer compatibility questions off the top of their noggin. I suppose that's why I find myself going back to e-tailers like Amazon who have the courage to permit customers to candidly share experiences with their products. Interestingly enough, if you really shop around, most sites don't: so props to Amazon. Anyway, I just wanted to report that I got Navman PiN GPS Pocket PC about 2 weeks ago or so and immediately realized the only way the device would be truly indispensable would be if it went online. I spent last week reading every product review I could on SanDisk's 256MB WiFi SD Card because it seemed like the perfect solution. And guess what? It is. Despite some user experiences to the contrary, I can confirm with confidence that the card does work with my Navman AA005600. I was sure I'd have to download updated drivers or at the least, do some tweaking (OK, wild guessing), since the only info I could find on the card's compatibility with my Navman is conflicting, depending on the review your reading. WELL ... I didn't need to download drivers or configure a thing ... I simply followed the instructions on the installation disc, reset my device and there ya go ... it did everything for me and recognized my wireless network, same as a PC. One snafu: the first attempt sent my Navman into a sorta limbo state when the installation didn't finish for some reason. I basically just aborted, made sure nothing partially installed and did it again AND it was as smooth as silk. The LED on the card is accurate and handy ... I roam freely around my two-story home without losing my connection ... load speed can vary but overall performance is better than I expected. Better than dial-up on a PC, from what I remember (it's been awhile). I installed everything upstairs using my bedroom's PC, which connects to a Linksys router downstairs via wireless network card. Tomorrow I'm trying it in my offices at work and anticipate similar luck, based on my experiences thus far (hey, gotta be optimistic). The Navman I picked up was a refurb; too ... the card was new, though. Hopefully my two cents here helps other users out there 'cuz, quite honestly, this took my 'lil pocket PC from being pretty rad, since it ardy was a GPS/PC combo ... to being a truly kick butt (and ahem, affordable) all-in-one device.

This product works!!!!!!!! at least with my device,
By
This review is from: SanDisk Connect 256 MB + WiFi SD Card (Personal Computers)
I have read a few other ratings so far, and I cannot understand why this device is not rated higher. I bought this card yesterday and have susessfully installed it into my MDA compact (T-moblie) pda phone, AKA I-mate Jam and just love it. It picked up a signal immediately and is very fast. For the ones who have rated this device low, my suggestion is to buy an up- to-date PDA which is compatible. Don't rate a product bad because it doesn't work in your older device. If it is a money thing, try shopping on E-bay for a used MDA/XDA I or II PDA phone. They are not very expensive. Check out the photo I've attached. It shows my old P800 pda phone along side the MDA compact.

DOES work with Audiovox 6600,
By Cy Gone (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SanDisk Connect 256 MB + WiFi SD Card (Personal Computers)
contrary to a previous reviewers claim that it doesn't work, it does in fact work with audiovox 6600. i did upgrade the rom, first, too the latest and greatest by going to the audiovox websites downloads. they call it a software upgrade. just be sure to follow instructions to the letter. once done, simply install the driver that comes with the sandisk product. patiently and strictly follow the instructions again. you may need to type in a security key for the device. if the screen for the key disappears, tap on the icon near the top of the screen to bring up the screen again. in any case, it does work with the audiovox 6600. write me at richard@richardlansing.com if you have any problems. a lot of people have problems getting this technology to work but patience and following instructions to the letter works every time. this combo card is great in that it extends the utility of this fine pda/cell with not only wi-fi but also more storage space. finally, if the install window seems to disappear, just tap the icon on top of screen by the tele icon. often times though, i suspect the problem is the card is simply wating for a network key. usually one of these two things are your problem.

Does NOT work with Audiovox 6600 and Pocket PC 2003 2nd Edi,
By
This review is from: SanDisk Connect 256 MB + WiFi SD Card (Personal Computers)
I bought this product after reading a review that stated that the drivers finally worked after performing the ROM upgrade from the Audiovox website. This is simply not true. While the ROM upgrade does fix/enhance other features of the Audiovox 6600, it DOES NOT fix the driver issue with this product. After installing the driver and utility for the product, the wifi card is only recognized one out of every 30 (or so) soft resets and I was prompted to format the storage portion of the card most other times. No format ever completed successfully and the storage portion of the card was only accessible one out of every 15 (or so) soft resets. After calling SanDisk technical support and going over this issue with them, they stated that it is a known issue with their dual SDIO bus driver and they suggested that I return this product and purchase their other sd wifi card without the storage.
I have read rumors in discussion threads that SanDisk is planning on releasing a driver that will actually work with Pocket PC 2003 Second Edition but I would not recommend purchasing this product until it is released.

I bought this product by mistake, I was actually able to install the program on my X50 but wasn't able to make it work. We tried it on a MIO and it worked just fine.
I give it 5 stars because the Idea of having a SD WIFI and 256 MBs is great... too bad bad I can't use it... |
