U3 Launchpad Crashes My System,
By GinAZ (AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive 3-Pack SDCZ6-2048-A11T (Personal Computers)
I would have rated this as 5 Stars before it started crashing my system each time it is used on my HP desktop system with an Intel 6300 CPU running Windows XP Home, SP 2. It has crashed my system 5 consecutive times. It does run OK on my older laptop also running Windows XP Home (so I'll give it 2 stars). When the Cruzer is plugged in, the U3 Launchpad autoruns, the launcher shows in the lower right of the screen with the spinning indicator, after about 5 seconds my monitor goes dark, it then displays "Monitor going to sleep", and a few seconds later my system has a blue screen and is rebooting. The Windows information provided after the Error Report is sent is that there was a driver conflict that caused Windows to Stop. I also have an external USB hard drive which could be causing conflicting drivers but it runs an automated back-up each night with no problem. SanDisk help responded that I should contact HP.

U3 Program can be uninstalled,
This review is from: SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive 3-Pack SDCZ6-2048-A11T (Personal Computers)
I had issues with the U3 program initially until I found that there is a program from SanDisk called U3Uninstall that will turn your flash drive into a generic drive. After that, no problems. Hope this helps others who are having difficulties with this so-called feature.

Work Well, Except...,

This review is from: SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive 3-Pack SDCZ6-2048-A11T (Personal Computers)
I bought a three-pack of SanDisk Cruzer flash drives some time ago. In general, this product has proven to be very useful for my needs. I'm constantly giving lectures, both as a university professor and as an outside visiting lecturer. I put my PowerPoint presentations on this neat little flash drive and it's worked flawlessly with any computer/projection equipment I've encountered. I just take it off my necklace holder, plug it in and I'm ready to go. The only problems I've had is when the host computer has a different PowerPoint program than the one I based my program on, but that isn't the fault of the flash drive.I've been very satisfied with the product, except that one of the three drives failed after I'd put a large number of presentations on it. Groan. What a pain. I had to go back and redo the whole thing and countless hours were wasted. However, I've only had that one problem and these flash drives are better than my previous drives (Dane-Elec) and I'm not always losing the caps. I've now purchased a three-pack of SanDisk 4GB drives and I expect they will serve even better. Hopefully, I'll have no more failures. ADED NOTE OF 4/28/10: Alas, I was carrying two of these flash drives around in the coin pocket of my jeans and forgot to take them out when I washed the pants. Both went through a Tide washing with a double scoop of OxyClean added. I found them in the bottom of the washer and let them slowly dry out. I'm delighted to report that neither suffered any damage.
