4.0 out of 5 stars U3 Program can be uninstalled
I had issues with the U3 program initially until I found that there is a program from SanDisk called U3Uninstall that will turn your flash drive into a generic drive. After that, no problems. Hope this helps others who are having difficulties with this so-called feature.

2.0 out of 5 stars U3 Launchpad Crashes My System, March 5, 2008

This review is from: SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive 3-Pack SDCZ6-2048-A11T (Personal Computers)
I would have rated this as 5 Stars before it started crashing my system each time it is used on my HP desktop system with an Intel 6300 CPU running Windows XP Home, SP 2. It has crashed my system 5 consecutive times. It does run OK on my older laptop also running Windows XP Home (so I'll give it 2 stars). When the Cruzer is plugged in, the U3 Launchpad autoruns, the launcher shows in the lower right of the screen with the spinning indicator, after about 5 seconds my monitor goes dark, it then displays "Monitor going to sleep", and a few seconds later my system has a blue screen and is rebooting. The Windows information provided after the Error Report is sent is that there was a driver conflict that caused Windows to Stop. I also have an external USB hard drive which could be causing conflicting drivers but it runs an automated back-up each night with no problem. SanDisk help responded that I should contact HP.

4.0 out of 5 stars Work Well, Except..., February 23, 2009

I bought a three-pack of SanDisk Cruzer flash drives some time ago. In general, this product has proven to be very useful for my needs. I'm constantly giving lectures, both as a university professor and as an outside visiting lecturer. I put my PowerPoint presentations on this neat little flash drive and it's worked flawlessly with any computer/projection equipment I've encountered. I just take it off my necklace holder, plug it in and I'm ready to go. The only problems I've had is when the host computer has a different PowerPoint program than the one I based my program on, but that isn't the fault of the flash drive.

I've been very satisfied with the product, except that one of the three drives failed after I'd put a large number of presentations on it. Groan. What a pain. I had to go back and redo the whole thing and countless hours were wasted. However, I've only had that one problem and these flash drives are better than my previous drives (Dane-Elec) and I'm not always losing the caps. I've now purchased a three-pack of SanDisk 4GB drives and I expect they will serve even better. Hopefully, I'll have no more failures.

ADED NOTE OF 4/28/10: Alas, I was carrying two of these flash drives around in the coin pocket of my jeans and forgot to take them out when I washed the pants. Both went through a Tide washing with a double scoop of OxyClean added. I found them in the bottom of the washer and let them slowly dry out. I'm delighted to report that neither suffered any damage.

I liked the color coded micros - makes it easy to store photos on one and not have to search thru titles to find it.
The price for the 3 pack was great - vendor service was swift.
Very satisfied with product and service.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sneaker Net at its best, February 10, 2009

For anyone doing presentations on client equipment or moving data where nets don't go, the "geek stick" is an essential tool. The Sandisk Cruzer series has been the best I've seen lately; no caps to lose; access lights; easily fits a keychain or a pocket. The included U3 bloatware is a bit of an annoyance, but it is easily removed (and I highly recommend you remove it) to gain the full capacity of the chip without leaving fingerprints on the presentation PC.

I read some of the reviews of thumb drives with U3, and was a little wary, but so far, so good! The speed is good, the price is great, and no weirdness from the U3.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great flash drive!, February 13, 2008
This review is from: SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive 3-Pack SDCZ6-2048-A11T (Personal Computers)
I like SanDisk products in general but these flash drives are the tops in my opinion! Good construction. Easy to use. Fabulous retractable USB hub so no worries about losing anything. Comes with software on it that is easily removed if you don't want any of it.
Strongly recommend this flash drive to anyone looking for a very user friendly product!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Inexcusable file errors, January 27, 2009
By
This review is from: SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive 3-Pack SDCZ6-2048-A11T (Personal Computers)
I used the red drive in this 3-pack that my friend bought. First, I should say that I used this drive on several computers - a PC running XP, a Mac Powerbook G4, and a bubble-type iMac G3 (both running OSX). With all 3 computers, the drive refused to "eject" - I would wait and wait, and it wouldn't respond. When I just pulled it out anyway, the computer warned me that because I pulled it out suddenly, it could create data errors. And sure enough, when I looked at the files again, all their dates had been rewritten to the last time I had used it. This was very frustrating considering I was working on several versions of written documents! When I would load these documents again (in OpenOffice or the Mac's similar NeoOffice, my word processors of choice), it would tell me that the data was corrupted, and ask me if I would like to attempt to restore the file. The file restorations have worked thus far, but it still scares me every time I encounter an old file that has been messed with.

In addition, it comes with the ULead program that wastes drive space and is almost impossible to erase.

I warn everybody in the market for a flash drive to avoid this one completely. I have a Kingston that was found on the floor, lost by some stranger, and works flawlessly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cruizer 2GB flash, September 18, 2009
This review is from: SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive 3-Pack SDCZ6-2048-A11T (Personal Computers)
I purchased two packages of 3 each, 2GB flashdrive. I will be using to transfer information to others that will be taking over the duties that I will be vacating in my retirement. I found them a little difficult understanding the preparation for receiving date but once that was acheived, I find the very easy to use and the security of password protection a great feature. The price is also very-very good.
