Make sure you have a UDMA camera,
By devcon (NorCal) - See all my reviews

First off...make sure you have a UDMA compliant camera or you will be spending extra money that won't offer any benefit. If you're camrea doesn't supprt UDMA, don't come back here and whine that it's slow. In fact it may cause problems but from what I've read those are few and far between.
Secondly, the Extreme IV is actually rated at 45MB/s now (UDMA). If you order a card and it's not 45MB/s, send it back as it's old stock. As for the performance of the card, it's a perfect match for my 50D. I use a number of them while shooting sporting events and they keep up just fine with the 6.3 FPS the 50D can do. Never had one fail on me even in less than perfect conditions. If you have a UDMA compliant camera, give this card a shot. If you don't have a UDMA compliant camera, go for the Exteme III.

WATCH OUT FOR THE FAKES! DUMB & DUMBER ON THE LOOSE,
By
This review is from: SanDisk 8 GB Extreme IV CompactFlash Card ( SDCFX4-8192-901, US Retail Package ) (Personal Computers)
Well, I've seen some dumb things before, but when Amazon allows an afiliate vendor to sell counterfeit ExtremeIV 8GB cards, now that is dumb. Especially, since the vendor was brand new to them (obviously not vetted). I bought the card from these guys just to see if it was going to be fake or not. And sure enough as soon as I got it I called SanDisk and what do you know, counterfeit as a 3 dollar bill. About the only thing that could be dumber is for SanDisk not to find a solution for this problem and lose many potential customers because of the uncertainty. BTW These are really convincing fakes, including the high quality retail packaging, the software included, even a little zipper pouch that says SanDisk on it. Maybe it will be best not to buy expensive SanDisk for some time to come.

BEWARE - My Card was a FAKE!,
This review is from: SanDisk 8 GB Extreme IV CompactFlash Card ( SDCFX4-8192-901, US Retail Package ) (Personal Computers)
BEWARE:
I bought a Sandisk Extreme IV from AMAZON and it would not work properly and finally went dead completely. I contacted Sandisk and they absolutely documented my card as a FAKE, not an authentic Sandisk. I really expected better than this from AMAZON! I guess I am stuck. Below is the actual response from Sandisk. Dear Mark, Thank you for contacting Sandisk. We have received your email with photos. Unfortunately the photos show that the card is not an authentic Sandisk card. Take card back to vendor and inform them of our decision. Best regards, Segundo Rma dept.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: SanDisk 8 GB Extreme IV CompactFlash Card ( SDCFX4-8192-901, US Retail Package ) (Personal Computers)
I was first concerned that the card would work with my Canon XT. I tried and was very impressed with ease of format and download speed. I could tell the difference with my prior II speed chip. I wanted this size to use on vacation in the fall of 2007. Cruise up the New England coast to Nova Scotia. I shoot all in RAW format so I use a lot of space. I am very happy with the SanDisk 8 GB Extreme IF CompactFlash Card.

Works fine with no problems in my Canon 400D. Not noticeably faster in this camera than the Sandisk "Extreme III" cards, but Extreme III is slightly faster than "Ultra II." Price per gigabyte is pleasingly low, and with RAW files at around 10 MB each it's a good balance between not changing memory cards constantly and avoiding the all eggs in one basket worries from putting everything on one huge card. I bought a second after verifying that there were no problems with the first I bought.

I just bought a Nikon D200 and needed a lot of storage space for my work.
I always shoot Raw and this card is good enough for a wedding from start to end. Fast and reliable. Excellent price

Counterfeit Sandisk Cards,
By
This review is from: SanDisk 8 GB Extreme IV CompactFlash Card ( SDCFX4-8192-901, US Retail Package ) (Personal Computers)
Be very careful when purchasing these Extreme IV 8.0GB "Sandisk" CF cards. I bought one that was also a counterfeit on here and after it failed and I lost all of my photos, I contacted the manufacturer only to find out that the card is counterfeit. I have many other Sandisk cards and could not tell the difference between the real cards and this fake one, so be very careful. I lost hundreds of photos from a trip I recently took that can never be replaced. I wouldn't risk it if I were you.

This card is very fast. I've owned several cards from SanDisk and have never had an issue with one. If you purchase this card for use in a camera, you will appreciate how quick the uploads can be.

I have used this card for several months, and have taken tens of thousands of images with it. I have not had a single problem on my 30D, that is not something I could say about Lexar cards. All of my Sandisk cards have served me very well, and I hope and expect them to continue to do so.
I get about 9MB/s using my PCMCIA reader on my laptop, which is decent. I would invest in the firewire reader to get the true potential transfer rate, but my laptop doesn't support firewire.

Lots of Memory in a Small Package,
By ZR-Juan (Tucson, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SanDisk 8 GB Extreme IV CompactFlash Card ( SDCFX4-8192-901, US Retail Package ) (Personal Computers)
Excellent capacity. It provides me with enough memory to record 1535 high resolution shots in my Canon EOS 5D. I am not sure how fast it is in comparison to my SanDisk 4 Gb Extreme III. Seems to be faster when I transfered 1 Gb using my Extreme USB 2.0 Reader. I have just bought my second 8 Gb card. Now I can shoot 16 Gb without having to go back to my computer. I can take a 10 day summer vacation through Europe and leave my laptop home.
