Bad Card, Defective Product or Fluke?
on August 11, 2013
I received this card on May 29, 2013 for use with my ASUS laptop (which has an SD slot for extra storage). By August 8, 2013, about 10 weeks later the card is splitting apart on the bottom of the card, the opposite end away from the metal contacts (clearly not sealed properly) and is now registering only 32MB, not 128GB. I'm disappointed in SanDisk, and out $153.00 unless they honor the warranty. I have emailed SanDisk (support@SanDisk.com), per their warranty instructions (see link: [...] and [...] and I'm waiting to see how they respond. I paid more for this card because of the great reviews, assuming I'd receive a much better than average product. I'm hoping this was just a fluke, as no manufacturer has a perfect product track record, so we'll see if they honor their warranty and replace the defective card?
UPDATE: SanDisk replaced the card under warranty, although they did argue with me a little about the card simply falling apart (shoddy manufacturing is not my fault, LOL). I told them to check the card when they received it, since it would show no damage from misuse - the card simply fell apart, as I said. In the end they honored the warranty and replaced the card, so I'm increasing the stars to 3 from 1 because of this.
