5.0 out of 5 stars Extreme Convenience
These SD cards with USB plugs from San Disk are extremely convenient. They're sturdy, ingeniously designed, and reasonably priced. This is my second one, and my first, a 1 Gb model has served me well in heavy use for more than a year. I'll be buying more. (They make great gifts too -- anyone who uses SD cards hasn't got one will appreciate it.)...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great product hurt by mechanical design flaw
I have purchased various flavors of "readerless" USB-ready SD cards over the last few years, from the removable cap style to T-style to the hinged variety such as this product.

Generally a good job by SanDisk: the card performs quite well for its class, and the hinge feels pretty sturdy given how small the unit is.

Unfortunately the electrical...

Postscript: More than a year later of heavy use and this thing is still going strong. Get the newest one in the biggest size you can, but this style of USB / SD card from SanDisk is a solid winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best thing since sliced bread, January 23, 2008

Not sure who introduced this idea of the USB functionality in an SD card but they should get a Nobel prize in something. I've used this card with different cameras, most recently with Canon G9 and it's such a joy not having to have a card reader or cable around. It works great.

It is very convenient not to have to deal with any cords; just pull the thing out and put it in your usb slot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Faster than advertised, May 21, 2008

I bought this card because older SD card readers cannot read the newer SDHC cards and I wanted the convenience of not needing a card reader. I assumed I would have to settle with the performance of the slower class 4 instead of the faster class 6 available with other SDHC cards.

What I realized when I tested it was it is actually faster than my class 6 sdhc card, as tested on a usb 2.0 card reader. I got writes in the 10-11MB/s range and reads around 20MB/s.

This card is a total no-brainer, excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Product!! The smartest thing to come out for Digital Camera's., February 25, 2008

A Perfect Product!! The smartest thing to come out for Digital Camera's. I love this product. The ability to act as a memory card for your camera and a jump drive is great!! This makes sharing and transferring pics so easy because you don't need a card reader. And forget about needing a jump drive, this is smaller and a lot more versatile.

This mem card is a truly ingenious idea. It works well and exactly as described. I think it is brilliant, just plugs right into your card reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy!, May 13, 2010

I have had one of these for a couple years, and it is awesome. I originally had a 2GB version, with a keychain caddy, and it has often saved my butt. I work in IT, and this little device takes up virtually no room. On my 4GB litttle monster, I have enough room to transfer files, carry a rescue image, or to put a couple decent-sized movies on it for the kids' enjoyment on those occasional long car rides. The fact that it is also USB is great, since every PC has a USB port. It is a real icebreaker when I whip it out of its case, and hand it to someone to grab their precious My Documents folder-"But I don't have a card reader!" they say..."Sure you do" I tell them, then fold it in half for them and stick it in their USB port. The only drawback is that it is so tiny, you have to pay attention not to accidently leave it behind in the machine! Good speed, capacious, and versatile, this is the ultimate IT commando toolkit to have with you- since I ALWAYS have my keys on me, I don't ever have to remember to bring a flash drive with me when I head down the hall on a rescue mission. I have four of them, in various sizes, always at the ready. One does duty in a camera, where it is nice not to have to bring a card reader or cable to download your pics to your laptop, just pop it in and transfer the pics! I got my original 2GB model at Circuit City (remember them?), and have wanted another, but bigger, ever since. I got two 4GBs, two 2GBs, and even a 1GB after searching for them at Amazon. Get one before they're all gone- I don't know if they make these any more, I never see them in stores. Only gripe? The folding mechanism will eventually wear out (my original 2GB can fall open almost by itself- gives you an idea of how often I use it, had it over two years before finding replacements online!), and that they don;t have the keychain caddies any more...

5.0 out of 5 stars HAPPY, May 6, 2008
This review is from: SanDisk SDSDPH-004G-A11 4GB/15MB Ultra II SD Plus Card (Personal Computers)
So, I got this on the suggestion of a co-worker at Apple. I shoot photos and like to be able to download RAW images on the fly. This is a great little bit of technology. I can shoot and immediately upload to my computer, delete and then start over with an empty card without the added hassle of a card reader. The best part of this is I can use it to port files even while using it as the primary means of collecting images. Hands down the best porting solution I have seen to date. I love the flexibility of this product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect 11" Macbook Air accessory, December 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: SanDisk SDSDPH-004G-A11 4GB/15MB Ultra II SD Plus Card (Personal Computers)
This card works exactly as described - folds in half to reveal a plug that fits snugly in the USB port.

Can't comment much on actual SD card characteristics - my needs are pretty basic (i.e., I'm not a sports photographer); that said, the throughput is good enough for me to take photos in burst mode at max JPEG quality on my D5000 no problem, so I'm happy as a clam.

No more having to worry about where my annoying proprietary Nikon USB cable is!
